Thankful that the first repatriation flight from Muscat, Oman has landed safely, bringing fellow Singaporeans home.

Heartfelt thanks to our officers for making this happen. It was a whole-of-government effort. Ministry of Foreign Affairs officers in Singapore and our overseas missions, including those deployed as Crisis Response Teams, worked closely with counterparts from the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, and other agencies to make the arrangements and support this effort. Thanks also to our consular and embassy teams, the flight crew, and everyone who has been working round the clock to help Singaporeans return home safely.

Our thoughts remain with those whose loved ones have not yet returned. MFA will be mounting a second flight tomorrow and will continue reaching out to Singaporeans in affected areas, while also organising assisted overland trips for Singaporeans elsewhere in the Middle East. Our officers are working hard under challenging conditions, to ensure the safety and security of Singaporeans.  – LHL

One of the most powerful barriers to success is not the obstacles placed before us by the world, but the invisible limits we quietly place on ourselves. Negative experiences—failures, rejection, criticism, or moments when our efforts did not lead to the results we hoped for—often leave deeper impressions on the mind than we realize. At first, these experiences seem like isolated events, just difficult moments in time. But if we are not careful, they slowly begin to shape the way we see ourselves and our possibilities. 

A single setback can gradually turn into a silent belief: “Maybe I’m not good enough,” or “Perhaps this path isn’t meant for me.” Without noticing it, we begin to adjust our ambitions, avoid certain opportunities, or stop taking risks altogether. We don’t do this because we lack ability or potential; we do it because our past experiences have quietly convinced us that the future will only repeat the past.

Over time, these beliefs become self-imposed barriers—limits that exist not in reality, but in our perception. The mind tries to protect us from disappointment by encouraging caution, but sometimes that protection turns into restriction. We begin to play small, choosing comfort over possibility, safety over growth. Yet the truth is that negative experiences were never meant to define the boundaries of our future. They were meant to teach us, refine us, and strengthen our understanding of the journey ahead. Every setback carries insight, every rejection carries direction, and every difficult moment holds the potential to reshape our resilience.

The danger lies not in experiencing failure, but in allowing those experiences to become permanent conclusions about who we are and what we can achieve. When we treat past outcomes as fixed verdicts rather than temporary lessons, we unknowingly surrender our ability to grow beyond them. But the moment we begin to challenge those inner narratives, everything changes. When we choose to see negative experiences as stepping stones rather than stopping points, the walls we once believed were solid begin to dissolve.

In that moment of awareness, we realize something powerful: our potential was never truly limited by what happened to us. The only real limitation was the belief that our past had the authority to define our future. Once we release that belief, the path ahead expands again, filled with possibilities we once thought were beyond our reach. 

Success, then, is not simply about overcoming external obstacles—it is about freeing ourselves from the invisible barriers created by our own doubts, and daring to move forward with the courage to believe that the future can always be bigger than the past.
