Since I was a kid I have loved building stuff with my hands. 

My dad having his own workshop, let me play around with tools and various materials. 

It lead to a passion for technology and creating stuff. 

My dad got me into racing gokarts and formula/car racing from when i was 12 till i was 18. 

When I was 17 I got into MMA and have been having fights as well. 

I studied Mechanical engineering at Aalborg University for 3 years before I started my own company, DIC Group, during the summer before my 4th year. It was an incredible experience and I quickly saw that in the first 2 months of starting my own company that summer, I made more money that I would in half a year as a mechanical engineer. This, combined with my extensive background growing up in a workshop, allowed me to bet on myself and take the leap into DIC Group full time instead of finishing my studies. 

By age 22, I scaled DIC Group to 22 employees, $2 million (USD) in revenue, and made my first million in profit (DKK). Then, I experienced by biggest business hardship at the time when a massive contract went south. In the end it unfortunately cost me my company and ended in bankruptcy. Even though I felt like giving up, I refused to do so. I simply believe that the way to win is through perseverance. So, I got back up and took all of my learnings and experience into my next venture, Airflight.

Shortly after the bankruptcy I founded @Airflight together with a team ( now we are only 2 founders) with the aim of making ordinary people get an extraordinary experience by flying in a flying car.

We flew the flying car and got a lot of media attention that showed us an market opportunity within the Wind turbine industry for flying spare parts and tools. 

Airflight now applied for grants and investment to convert the flying car into an unmanned 100kg payload drone called the AF100. One of the largest quadcopters in the world. 

With the AF100 flying we raised capital and got more grants to build the AF200 a 200kg payload drone that would be able to solve multiple industry headaches. 

Unfortunately we crashed the AF200 in the midst of a funding round, forcing us to scale down operations. This crash seemed to be the end of Airflight. 

I have now partnered up with one of the best companies in Denmark, Jack Foged A/S, to head their sales efforts and deliver even more value to even more customers.

Hos os har vi lige løst en opgave for en af vores kolegaer i industrien som er klar til levering. Fuldt ansvar fra start til slut. 

De sidste 6 måneder har jeg brugt tid på at brede budskabet til mange af vores konkulegaer: Vi hjælper gerne med røropgaver.

Det giver mere værdi at sige ja til en ordre når man har en samarbejdspartner man kan stole på. Som tager hele opgaven uden mange administrative timer.

I værste fald tager man en opgave ind som ikke går som den skal. Fordi man ikke havde de rigtige folk. Eller ens projektleder bliver for overloaded. 

Det at kunne skrue kapaciteten op og ned fleksibelt og hurtigt, samtidig med at ansvaret ligger hos en pålidelig partner. Det er værdifuldt.  

Så selvom vi måske byder mod hinanden på projekter eller arbejder tæt op af hinanden i industrien. Tøv ikke med at række ud.

Det handler ikke om at tage hinandens kunder det handler om at yde service og hjælp til hinanden. 

Jeg kommer gerne forbi til en snak og ser om der kan være grobund for et samarbejde. 

De gode lange samarbejder starter med kemi og tillid. Noget vi i Jack Foged A/S ikke går på kompromis med.

Vi har eksisteret i 40 år og vi er frisk på 40 år mere.

Det er ikke kun vores kunder som opnår en fordel når vi præfabrikere store rør spools til montage det er også vores folk. 

Ved at præfabrikere rørspools så store som muligt opnår vi mindre svejsning på pladsen. 

Det betyder mindre svejsning i stilling som betyder bedre arbejdsmiljø for vores folk. 

Vi skal passe på vores medarbejdere og vi skal forsøge at lave den højeste kvalitet muligt samtidig med vi driver forretning. 

Derfor tror vi på præfabrikation.

Som den gode gruppe minds og 99 synger: Alle skuffer over tid. 
Denne dag skuffede jeg mig selv og mine kollegaer. 

Jeg svejste et rør sammen som ikke skulle svejses sammen. 

Jamen hvor dum kan man være tænkte jeg selv efter skaden var sket. 

Men et øjebliks uopmærksom og for meget iver om at komme i gang gjorde det. 

Måtte blive ekstra og rette min fejl på egen regning da det var det eneste rigtige at gøre efter sådan en fejl 40 ! 

moral of the story, vi fejler allesammen det er mere hvordan vi retter dem eller rejser os.

Fra ide til opmåling til fremstilling til montage til aflevering. 

Endnu et læs rør skal nu ud og monteres. 

Vi er stolte over endnu engang at være med til at bidrage til industriens spillere der bygger en bedre fremtid for os alle.

For 10 år siden byggede jeg denne aluminiums afskærmning for en kunde. 
Det fik mig til at tænke på hvor langt jeg er kommet på ren og skær:

Vilje. 

Viljen til at forsøge. 

Viljen til at forsætte. 

Viljen til at lykkedes. 

10 år med hårdt arbejde og mange timer. 
Men den dag idag så mærker jeg frugten af det arbejde. 

Aldrig være bange for at ligge mere i det end hvad du umiddelbart ser du får ud af det, om ikke andet så får du erfaringen og den kan ingen tage fra dig.

Så er det blevet mandag morgen og det er blevet tid til at smelte rør sammen igen. 

Ethvert procesanløg med respekt for sig selv har svejste rør. 
Det kan være:

- Sort rør
- Rustfri rør
- Plastik rør

Allesammen med hver deres formål og applikation. 
Det som de alle har til fælles er at de alle sammen godt kan lide når vi i Jack Foged A/S svejser dem sammen.

Something that I have struggled with for years and still do sometimes is the feeling of not feeling good enough. 

Like whatever you are doing and how great you are doing it seems to never be enough? 
It is also what makes you push hard to achieve big results but even when you reach the bar and look up again the bar have moved. 

Over the years I have found that it helped me to realize AND relate the bar not to where I want to go but to where I have been. 

Our minds can be our biggest asset or our enemy it really comes down to what we choose. 

Thought I would share a mental struggle for once.

En af de mest frusterende ting der kan ske som totalentreprenør er at tabe i et udbud men noget som er meget værre end det:

At vinde og tabe penge på projektet. 

Alle i industrien har prøvet det.... 

Det sucks ass ( som min bedste makker ville sige det) 

Som totalentreprenør så kan du ikke vide alt.
Samtidig er det ikke sikkert udbudsmaterialet er det bedste ( sorry til jer der laver udbud ). 

Men efter 40 år i branchen har Jack Foged A/S et hav af projekt data. Det data har Philip og Jacob udviklet en metode til at beregne priser på rørentrepriser. 

Derfor opfordre vi alle vores kunder og samarbejdspartnere om at involvere os tidligt i tilbudsfasen så vi sammen kan sikre at hvis i vinder udbuddet så taber i ihvertfald ikke penge på den del af projektet der har med rør at gøre. 

Vi tror på tidlig involvering da vi ved og har set gennem tiderne at det kan gøre forskellen på jubel eller gråd.

Stærke ledere formår at skabe organisationer der kan trives i konstant forandring hvilket er et påkrav mere end nogensinde når du kigger ud af vinduet på den verden vi lever i pt.

Just got back from South Africa. Still processing how incredible that trip was.

We started with a few days on safari, then explored Cape Town, and ended at the wedding of one of my best high school friends. (Joseph M. Shook, IV – congrats on getting married and thank you for inviting us! It was a beautiful wedding, and we had an amazing time.) 

The safari was unbelievable.

What I loved about it is the same thing I love about fishing – you can’t control it. You can’t schedule the moment you see something amazing. You just have to be present and pay attention.

It was summer there, the landscape was full of growth and cover, and a lot of the animals had just had babies. We got to see baby lions, baby elephants, herds moving through the brush.

Being out there immersed in nature forces you to slow down. There’s a stillness to it that’s hard to explain.

Cape Town is also one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to.

And the contrast across South Africa – the way different worlds exist side by side – was really cool to see up close.

This was a true bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Grateful I got to experience it.

Cold outbound is so cooked right now that people are putting “Your name is on the Epstein list” in the subject line just to get an open.

That’s where we are.

Reply rates on cold outbound used to be ~15% a decade ago.
Now they’re sub-1% in a lot of industries.

So naturally, people are escalating the shock value. 

But using something wildly insensitive as the Epstein list just to hijack attention isn’t creative. It’s lazy (and it burns trust before the conversation even starts).

That said… I do respect smart, timely creativity.

A friend of mine, Skyler Birk-Stachon, sent 100 cold emails to Canadian COOs the day after Canada lost gold to the U.S. in the Olympics.

Subject line: “gold medal workspace”

Email opened with:

“Hey there eh 🍁

So sorrey you got silver yesterday (again), but you were so close I wanted to give you a chance to get gold today!”

Then he tied it into improving their Notion workspace.

That’s actually funny – and it's relevant to the pitch.

Big difference.

If cold outbound is going to survive (which it probably won’t if we’re being honest), it can’t rely on shock value. Everyone’s numb to that now.

It has to feel human, observant, and at the very least *slightly* clever.

Otherwise you’re just another screenshot on Linkedin of “look how insane this sales email was.”

I laugh every time I see a new “company” that’s really just an AI wrapper.

But here’s the thing – just because a startup is technically a wrapper doesn’t mean it won’t win.

Not everyone is going to train foundation models. It’s insanely expensive, and most startups aren’t trying to compete with OpenAI.

There are absolutely companies that will build real value on top of existing models.

At the same time… some categories are getting ridiculous.

My favorite example are all these AI note takers.

Every Zoom call now has 2–3 random bots joining.

“Fathom joined.”
“Otter joined.”
“Some new AI assistant joined.”

It’s like a digital conference room full of interns silently recording everything.

One, it’s annoying as hell.

Two, I swear I see a new one launch every week.

That’s probably the cleanest example of the wrapper phenomenon – highly replicable, easy to spin up, differentiated mostly by branding and distribution.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:

Some of those companies will still do very well.

Because distribution, positioning, and trust matter just as much as raw technical innovation.

You don’t have to build the base model to build a business.

But if your only edge is “we also connect to GPT”… good luck.

There’s a Zen saying I’ve loved for a long time –  because it perfectly captures what discipline means to me:

“Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.
After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”

I first heard it years ago and then again when I was in Japan visiting a temple.

It stuck with me because it’s a reminder that no matter what level you reach – money, status, success – the work doesn’t go away.

You still chop wood.
You still carry water.

I think a lot of people believe that once you “make it,” things get easier.

They don’t.

The problems, the scale, and the pressure change. 

But the daily discipline? That stays the same.

The best founders I’ve seen understand this. Their level of discipline doesn’t drop as their level of success rises.

They’re steady.

Because discipline always matters.

And it doesn’t care how successful you are.

My first real swing at starting a company failed because of COVID – and it taught me a brutal lesson about timing. 

The idea was in sports tech. Think an early version of something like 5 Iron Golf: indoor simulators, a software layer, physical locations. We wanted to build both the tech and the spaces.

The thesis was solid, and the demand was there…

Then COVID hit.

Suddenly we’re trying to raise money for an in-person concept when the entire world is terrified of indoor activities. 

On paper, so many pieces were right.

But the timing was wrong – and we couldn’t raise what we needed.

It’s an uncomfortable realization as a founder. You want to believe that if you’re smart enough, scrappy enough, hardworking enough…you can make anything possible. 

Sometimes you just can’t. Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose.

Even exceptional founders get clipped by timing. 

But the lesson I took away from it wasn’t “don’t try.”

It was to respect timing just as much as you respect product, team, and execution.

When users start asking, “Can this just work inside what I already use?” that tells me two things are coming:

1) Consolidation.

Big platforms will keep absorbing smaller tools that primarily live on top of them. If your product’s main interface is Slack, Teams, or Gmail… don’t be surprised when those platforms decide to own that layer.

2) The bar for new software just went way up.

AI made building easier. That doesn’t mean adoption got easier. It means expectations exploded.

Consumers are exhausted. So if you’re asking someone to learn a brand new system, it better be exceptional.

From a VC lens, this shifts how I think about opportunity.

If you’re building:

– Either integrate into an interface people already live in
– Or build something so undeniably good that it earns the right to change behavior

There’s zero patience now for “nice to have.”

Meta just delayed its major AI model “Avocado” – and that tells you how brutal this race has become. 

Even a company as big as Meta is still playing catch-up in foundational models, and when the model isn’t strong enough versus what’s already out there, you don’t have many good options.

You either ship something weak and get penalized for quality…or delay and get penalized for momentum.

I think delaying was the right call.

Strategically, it’s better to take the hit now than launch a model that underdelivers and damages confidence. (In this market, people forgive delays faster than they forgive bad products.)

That said, this still doesn’t exactly bode well for Meta’s long-term positioning. 
If you keep getting cornered into admitting you’re “not quite ready,” that tells you how hard it is to lead in this category.

So to me, delaying Avocado was smart, but it also highlights just how far behind they are in this race. 

AI is moving so fast that even the giants don’t get a pass.

The DoD naming Anthropic a “supply-chain risk” is one of the more interesting AI policy moves we’ve seen in a while.

It’s also pretty extreme. 

Anthropic is one of the first U.S. companies to receive that designation. Historically, that label has been reserved for companies tied to adversarial governments like China or Russia – not major American AI labs.

My read on this:

1) This looks more like a power move than a policy move.

It’s a classic dealmaking tactic: the DoD is leveraging policy to apply pressure on a major AI company.

2) Anthropic and OpenAI are more similar than some people would like to admit.

The federal government clearly favors working with OpenAI over Anthropic. And I think Anthropic is acting like they’re “holier than thou” – even though they have a ton of similarities with OpenAI. That’s why the “good lab vs bad lab” framing feels performative IMO.

3) Anthropic’s concern about surveillance is valid.

If the default becomes broad surveillance of U.S. citizens without clear guardrails, that should concern everyone.

4) They will eventually come around to government work.

Most companies avoid government contracts for as long as possible until they see how large and long-lasting those deals can be, so I think Anthropic will eventually go for that. 

Personally, I agree with what Anthropic is standing for. 

Constant surveillance of US citizens shouldn’t become the default, and this DoD designation feels unprecedented and potentially overreaching.

The broader issue: 

We need clearer rules for how AI companies engage with national security – before case-by-case pressure tactics become the norm.

In the early days, I took Paul Graham’s “Do Things That Don’t Scale” literally – I processed every single customer payment by hand.  

We had a custom payments flow that didn’t exist yet.

So instead of building some big, beautiful infrastructure from day one, I processed every single payment manually.

Every. Single. One.

Bank transfers. Double-checking amounts. Making sure customers got paid correctly. Acting as the middleman between both sides.

It took an excruciating amount of time (probably a few hundred hours I’ll never get back).

But I needed to understand the flow:

– Where people got confused.
– What they expected to see.
– What felt clunky.
– Where trust mattered most.

If we had pre-built the full system upfront, we would’ve guessed at half of that.

A lot of founders overbuild too early. They architect for scale before they understand reality.

Doing it by hand forced me to learn the money movement inside and out.

Only after that did we build a more complex, proprietary system – and when we did, it was informed by real behavior, not assumptions.

It wasn’t glamorous, and it definitely didn’t “scale.” 

But it made the scalable version 10x better.

Robinhood’s startup fund dropping 16% on debut wasn’t shocking to me.

It raised real capital (~$658M, up to ~$706M with allotment), but the market still said:

“At this price? Not yet.”

My take is it was probably mispriced at launch.

The basket composition didn’t line up with what investors actually wanted (people were hoping for names like OpenAI/SpaceX, not a random-feeling mix). 

In this market, buyers are much more disciplined on valuation when the brand story isn’t strong enough.

And yes, macro matters too.
When there’s geopolitical uncertainty and broader market pressure, buyers get pickier.

What’s interesting, people say valuation doesn’t matter in AI.
But that’s only true for a small group of elite names.

For everything else, valuation still matters. A lot.

I do think this space works long term, but this debut was a reminder that demand for “startup exposure” and demand for “this exact package at this exact price” are two very different things.

Matt Shumer’s article hit 80 million views for a reason – but I do think it’s a lot of fear mongering dressed up as inevitability. 

That doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Some of it is undeniably true.

Shumer says two years ago in AI time is “ancient history.”
Frankly, two months ago feels ancient.

The models today are dramatically better than what most people tried in 2023. If your last experience with AI was early ChatGPT, you’re operating off outdated information.

Things are moving fast.

But here’s the part we need to zoom out on:

We live in a microcosm.

I saw a stat recently that only ~15% of people have meaningfully used AI. A much smaller percentage are paying for it or integrating it deeply into their workflow.

Meanwhile, if you’re on X or LinkedIn, it feels like the entire economy is about to evaporate.

Both things can be true:

Yes, entry-level white collar jobs will be impacted.
Yes, many roles will disappear.

But when the internet showed up, people didn’t “lose their jobs forever.” Capacity shifted. New roles emerged – and entire industries were created that nobody could’ve predicted in 1985.

This feels similar.

It’s not calm or slow by any means…but it’s also not extinction.

Things are going to look different. (That part feels undeniable.)

But I don’t think it’s a question of “are jobs disappearing?”

It’s: where is capacity shifting – and are you moving with it?

Open article: Something Big Is Happening by Matt Shumer • 21 min read

“AI for investing” is the latest trend in get-rich-quick schemes. 

I’ve been using AI to trade myself, and it’s actually pretty funny. I even have my Clawdbot trading prediction markets every day.

At first, it did really well.
Since then, it’s been more like: up a little, down a little, mostly average.

So no, I haven’t retired yet haha.

To me, this whole trend says a lot more about people than it does about the tech: everyone is looking for a get-rich-quick angle, and now AI is the latest version of that story.

You see it all over X – people running bots, trading prediction markets, trying to automate their way to easy money.

I get the excitement, I’ve tried it myself.
And I do think we’re getting closer to models that can be genuinely useful in investing workflows.

But right now, “AI for trading” is still mostly a reality check. Interesting edge in some cases…but not a magical money printing machine.

If it were, I’d be writing this from a tropical beach somewhere.
