I’ve interviewed 300+ people in the last 6 years.
 
Here's my 1 big lesson:

I don't just look at resumes anymore.

Resumes show what someone did,
but not how they work.

All my "bad hires" looked great on paper,
but they never worked out.

So, I stopped hiring only on experience,
and started hiring based on personality.

Now, I mainly use 2 tools:

1. DISC

DISC shows how someone:
 
- Works
- Communicates
- Solves problems.

D = Dominance (fast, direct, assertive)
I = Influence (social, outgoing, persuasive)
S = Steadiness (loyal, patient, supportive)
C = Compliance (careful, accurate, detailed)

You need different types for different roles.
For example:

→ Ops = high C and S
 
They need to love structure,
details, and follow-through.

→ Sales = high D and I
 
They need speed, energy,
and the ability to bounce back.

→ Admin/VA = S and C
 
They need patience,
consistency, and focus.

I don't guess anymore.
 
I just check their DISC,
and compare it to their role.

2. Motive Compass

Skills matter.
But drive matters more.

And this tool shows what makes someone tick:

- Status
- Growth
- Freedom
- Connection
- Control
- Security

This is key.

- If they want freedom,
they won’t do good with strict systems.
 
- If they want control,
they’re great for owning a process.
 
- If they want connection,
don’t isolate them in a solo role.

Hire based on WHO they are
