Since it was my first Internship, I was getting paid for learning

The idea of content was pretty alien to me till the time I started with an Internship at a PR company in the first year of my college.

It was a 3 month long internship and I spent the majority of the time sleeping and called it learning.

While it was not very satisfactory monetary, it changed the way I looked at content, since I was spending most of my time sleeping and dreaming, the only thing I used to dream about was ideas, which were authentic and at least true to me.

Internship karke itna toh pata chal gaya tha ki career toh content me hi banana hai, chahe wo career Dinesh Karthik jaisi kyu na ho( inserts a cricketing joke).

It's pretty hard to remain consistent at what you do. It's boring especially when you see no growth in the first couple of years.

But my love for content is beyond any metrics and praise, it's a part of my life, it makes me feel content and that is what matters.

Well, I am not someone who will promise to make your brand a unicorn in 30 days, nor can I skyrocket your growth exponentially.

But if you're someone who is looking for core authenticity and a community of people who trust you then I might do it.

A few unpopular work realizations I’ve picked up along the way in my career.


Curiosity played a bigger role in my career than networking ever did. 
Asking better questions and taking the work seriously changed what came my way.

Kindness at work turned out to be practical. It reduced friction, made conversations easier, and helped things move without unnecessary tension.

Some of the best phases of work felt boring. That usually meant the work had become stable and responsibility had increased.

Most work stress came from unclear expectations, not from too much work.

And growth rarely felt dramatic, when done right and through consistency.

You usually realise these things only after you’ve been in the work for a while.

This year started well.


A lot of work was happening in the background. 

Client strategies were reviewed and tightened and set for the rest of the year. What’s working is getting more attention. What isn’t is being removed without attachment.

New clients are onboarding. Steadier systems are being built and implemented.

And now it’s time for me to take a short break.

Therefore, Holi feels like the right pause.

Here are some advices for LinkedIn that you must skip.


- Advice like reposting your own post multiple times a day to “boost reach.”
Or commenting certain words so automated DMs start firing.

- Reply to every comment with a question to boost engagement.

- Share personal struggles in every post to appear authentic.

- Then there’s the idea that posting at an exact minute will magically increase visibility.

Most of this sounds clever.

But very little of it builds anything meaningful.

LinkedIn is a place where people decide whether they trust how you think.
And trust rarely comes from tactics.

The advice that actually works is usually simple.

- Be clear about who you’re speaking to.
- Share what you genuinely know.
- Stay consistent long enough for people to recognize your voice.

Remember, not everything needs a trick behind it.

Most brands misunderstand LinkedIn influencer marketing.


They start with the wrong metric, like big follower counts high like numbers or impressive-looking engagement.

It feels like reach but reach alone rarely creates business.

On LinkedIn, influence works differently.

People are not scrolling for entertainment. They are scanning for credibility. They want to know if the person speaking actually understands the space.

That’s why simple language often works better than corporate messaging. 

A creator with a smaller but trusted audience will usually drive more meaningful results than someone with inflated engagement.

Because on LinkedIn, the real currency is credibility.

Brands that understand this stop chasing numbers and start asking..
Does this person influence decisions or just attention?

Some companies show up through their people. Like you must have seen team members sharing how they think, what they’re building, what they’re learning from the work.

While other companies choose to stay completely silent.

And the interesting part is that silence doesn’t stay neutral for long.

If one team is speaking and another team isn’t, people slowly start associating the first company with the ideas in that space because they become familiar. 
They start feeling like the people who know what they’re doing.

The other company might be doing equally good work, but no one outside the room really sees it.

Most of the time they feel uncertain about what to do and rest of the time they think it as an unnecessary task.

So the safer choice becomes saying nothing.

But over time, saying nothing just means someone else becomes the voice of your industry.

And once that happens, catching up is much harder than simply starting.

Today marketing is just about showing the work while it’s happening.

I live and work in Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world.


This city has seen centuries pass. Empires came and went. People rebuilt, adapted, continued. And somehow, the core of it is still here.

Then, I open my laptop and enter the world of LinkedIn. 

A world obsessed with the latest "hack" to beat the algorithm, “Trending" audio and 5-second hooks and always chasing a viral moment that will be forgotten by tomorrow morning.

The contrast is jarring.

In Varanasi, you learn that anything built to last requires a foundation that doesn't move. In marketing, we call this Category Authority.

Most personal brands are built on "sand", they shift every time a new trend emerges. They look like everyone else, sound like everyone else, and eventually, disappear like everyone else.

But over time I have seen that the elite founders never look for a "moment." They are looking for a Legacy.

We don't build brands on what’s "happening now." We build them on:
Unshakeable Character.
Intellectual Depth.
Strategic Silence.

LinkedIn makes you believe speed is a strategy. But speed without clarity just creates more content. It doesn’t build memory.

If your brand depends on what’s trending, it will always feel fragile. If it depends on what you consistently stand for, it becomes stable.

In a place that has seen centuries pass, 24-hour trends don’t look very powerful.
 
After all, the real work is choosing what you’ll still stand by years from now.

Minimalist retains customers by being selective and not affordable.


The idea wasn’t new. Ingredient-first, clinical skincare already existed in markets like Canada and was trusted there.

Minimalist brought that standard to India and priced it within reach of a very specific buyer.

Not for bargain hunters, but for buyers who value clarity and consistency.

Minimalist also sits deliberately between two extremes. 

It isn’t luxury, and it isn’t very cheap. That middle ground is where repeat purchasing happens, because customers here are the people who want to be elite but they don’t have a lot of time in their hands.

These customers aren’t experimenting, they stick to their usuals and routines.

So basically retention here is driven from alignment. 

Mostly I have seen when retention drops or churn increases, the instinct is to become more affordable, more flexible and more pleasing. 

But price is a filter. When it’s too low, you attract experimenters and when it reflects outcomes, you attract stakeholders.

The same goes with positioning.

Brands that try to be liked by everyone end up being replaced easily. 

That’s the lens we apply at Social Toast as well. 

We don’t build voices for the masses, we help people become the obvious choice for the right audience.

So if you’re thinking about your own brand, it’s worth asking: Are people experimenting with you, or relying on you?

Because retention comes from being exactly right for someone and staying there.

IKEA’s marketing has always answered one core question:
How do we fit into your life?


That question explains almost everything about how IKEA operates.

IKEA doesn’t try to offer one perfect solution for everyone. It builds for variety.
A small apartment, a growing family, a temporary setup, a long-term home. The solutions change based on context.

That’s exactly how I think about personal branding.

Not everyone is here to build viral content or chase followers. Some people simply want a presence that feels right for them. A profile that reflects how they think and a way of showing up that aligns with who they are and how they want to be perceived.

At Social Toast, we don’t build profiles only for growth or visibility. We also build them for intention. 
For people who want their online presence to feel considered, consistent, and true to their context.

Personal branding doesn’t need only one outcome to be successful.
Sometimes, it’s simply about fitting into your life, the way you actually live it.

So, if too much online exposure feels unnecessary, that’s okay. Not every profile needs scale. Some are built simply to fit the person behind it.
