MY STORY:

As a mentor, coach, & and servant leader, I have served over 50,000 families and led 100+ direct reports in the span of my 20-year career as an education leader. I have coached and mentored 1000s of stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, ed leaders, and teams) to expand their capabilities, achieve progressively challenging goals, and overcome obstacles. I have coordinated and led over 200 conferences, including being a keynote speaker.

​After experiencing chronic stress and habitual burnout, I resigned during the pandemic, in December 2020, so I could be a better mom to my kids and a better human to myself. I used restorative practices and the tools and techniques I have learned to patch and fill my own bucket, find harmony and joy again, and be the best mom possible. As a life-long learner, I am dedicated to gaining and sharing knowledge.

Alka Howard

1. Real estate development for residential area in Temeke.
 
2. Designing using AutoCAD six residential houses, site preparations and construction supervision of the  first two residential houses that are currently in finishing stages.

3. Site visit, designing and construction for Yard fencing of a 5200 square meters land in Kisarawe II, Kigamboni

Senior Civil Engineer

Advent Construction Ltd

1. Led a team of 70+ skilled and unskilled labour to renovate a 3 storey residential building into a world class fertility clinic called NuLife in 8 months.

2. Revised the site plans drawings for commercial building in Pemba Island to match site conditions that saved costs on landfill materials.

3. Performed analysis on the bill of quantities and design drawings that raised a discrepancy in materials that was solved before bulk purchase by the procuring department.

4. Reviewed 3 DAWASA water supply projects’ designs and reports, conducted the early stages site visits to finalize the data required by structural designers for tank and suction pump stations.

5. Coordinated client’s and contractor’s design teams for the €40M+  international project for Knauf Gypsum Plant that currently serves the East African market for its gypsum board, plaster products and metal profiles.

6. Reviewed designs and collaborated with colleagues to complete a 10 floor residence at a $3M+ budget.

7. Managed the variation to company’s completed and ongoing projects’ designs that cut outsourcing costs.

Civil Engineer

Group Six International Ltd

1. Oversaw daily construction site activities.

2. Developed project schedule in collaboration with other site engineers to fast track the project that resulted to casting concrete for 9 floors in 5 weeks.
 
3.Presented minutes and reports during weekly and monthly site and stakeholders’ meetings.

Engineer Trainee

Nimeta (T) Consult Ltd 

1. Designed a 150 cum water tank structurally and prepped its bar bending schedule that resulted to 4.43 tons of steel needed to complete the work.

2. Analyzed 2 storey house plans using load bearing method and produced detailed drawings.

Consultant Engineer (Intern)

Konoike Construction Co., Ltd.

1. Supervised the earthwork and asphalt paving of 880m diversion road that allowed for the bridge construction on the main route (New Bagamoyo road) to continue without road closure.

2. Conducted laboratory tests on concrete cubes for bridge work and soil tests for road earthworks.

3. Worked closely with senior bridge engineers to acquire onsite training on the girder bridge technology.

Site Engineer (Intern)

Nordic Construction Company LTD

1. Performed site activities alongside other 4 interns that increased productivity by 25% during our tenure.

2. Solved water flooding on a school parking lot by analyzing the levels and directing the flow to the outlet.

🤓📕Aside from that I love learning, anything I come across that interest me I pursue it. You probably won't find the evidence on my profile or anywhere for some of them but believe me those things I seem to weirdly know I learnt them through internet searches, listening, staring at babies, movies etc.

I got an offer for the Quantic MBA during my online searches about personal finances (I think the cookies caught up with me 😅)

My passion for learning got me doing the Mckinsey Forward Program because I believed there is always something new to learn and I was right
