AI for Non-Techies, born from a newsletter of the same name, was launched out of a clear need for non-technical AI education.   I'm deeply passionate and enthusiastic about helping non-technical people understand and integrate AI into their work and personal lives.

Apparently, being rude to ChatGPT boosts accuracy
But I'll still be saying please and thank you
Here's my reasoning:

A recent (pre-peer review) study from Pennsylvania State University found that ChatGPT’s 4o model (that's one behind the one we're on now) produced better results on 50 multiple-choice questions as researchers’ prompts grew ruder. 

They used 250 unique prompts, sorted by politeness to rudeness levels. They found the "very rude" ones yielded 84.8% accuracy, four percentage points higher than the “very polite” response. 

Let's remember these are legitimate scientists who want to publish their work in esteemed journals for peer review, so they steered away from swearing. Their idea of "rudeness" is actually quite funny though, e.g.

“Hey, gofer, figure this out" - was in the "very rude" category. 🤣

Rudeness aside, more curt prompts tend to be less ambiguous and so get better results.

Regardless, I'll still be polite when I talk to ChatGPT.  

Here are my two arguments as to why:

𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟭 (the more reasonable one)

A few months ago, a friend told me her kids had stopped saying please and thank you. She couldn't work out why - then realised they were just copying how they talk to Alexa.

If we're barking orders at AI every day without manners, are we training ourselves to be less polite in general? I reckon so.

A 2.5-year study of 128 families (Taylor & Francis, 2025) found parents were significantly more polite to voice assistants than their kids were - and politeness decreased over time for everyone. 

𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮 (the ridiculous - or is it? - one)

When the robots come, they'll remember I was polite and spare my life.

An entire ROI-positive AI strategy in 8 words: 
Find problems then build assistants to fix them 

This is the exact strategy I’m using in my own business. It's the quickest way to start seeing results in a small business.

STEP 1 Choose your weapon

All paid chatbots have an assistant-building function: 

ChatGPT = Custom GPTs
Claude = Projects
Gemini = Gems
Copilot = er…Agents 

STEP 2: Speak to your team 

Ask where the bottlenecks, frustrators and time-sappers are in their jobs. 
Gather a list of these problems.

STEP 3: Is AI the answer? 

This is the toughest bit. Pull out those problems that make good use cases for an AI assistant. (Not sure? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered - read to the end.)

STEP 4: Build your assistant

It’s much easier than you think. They’re all comprised of 3 things, just fill them in: 

• A name and purpose
• System instructions (help with this below too)
• A knowledge bank (docs they draw from)
  
STEP 5: Test it properly

The most important step but the most missed out: test and iterate. 
Ask team members to use it with no instructions from you. 
Edit the instructions to remove any issues. 

You’ll always need to edit a bit before it works.

A couple of simple, real examples from what I'm building at AI for Non-Techies: 

Example 1: 

Problem: The team is growing. Social posts, emails, landing pages, client comms, they’re all starting to be written in different tones of voice. 

Old solution: Write a tone of voice guide. People read it, ignore it and carry on as before. 

New solution: Build a simple assistant, loaded with tons of examples of content in the right tone of voice, and tone of voice guide. Ask everyone to run copy through it as a final check.

Example 2: 

Problem: Writing proposals takes up a big chunk of great salespeople’s time. It's a massive time drain, but it's too complex to outsource.

Old solution: Give the team proposal templates. Doesn’t actually slow the process. 

New solution: Build a proposal writing assistant. Load with great examples of proposals, your pricing, services/products. Get users to record their sales calls using an AI note taker and load the transcripts in to get instant proposals.

These are 17 things I would do EVERY DAY:

 1. Write 2-5 new posts → 99% will not be published
 2. Spend 15 mins writing comments in the morning.
 3. Send 3 appreciation DMs to my fav commenters
 4. Analyze my analytics → especially profile views
 5. Send 3 connection requests to relevant people
 6. Send 3 DMs to prospects I'd like to coach 1-1
 7. Obsess over my hook for the post I'll publish.
 8. If it's an image post, write ALT text for photo
 9. Dedicate 1 full hour to commenting (replies)
10. Prepare 3-5 pinned comments for my post
11. Repost my post 6-8 hours after publishing
12. Check my post's analytics in the evening.
13. Check who's viewed my Link Up website
14. Check whom I can convert to a member
15. Spend any extra time in the comments.
16. Check that day's connection requests.
17. Support small creators in the feed. ❤️

Jasmin Jay Alic shares his 17 daily habits for growing on LinkedIn. The reason he wrote this post was because he was asked what he'd do if he had to rebuild his LinkedIn from scratch. In 2011, I hauled trash to fund my university.

I drove those same streets recently.

(I got emotional writing this)

Same exact streets where I'd spend 12 hours per day, wearing 2kg boots, out in the scorching sun, wheeling strangers' trash cans to earn a paycheck.

Just to earn enough money over the summer, come home, and say "Mama, this is for uni next year".

I did this every summer. Proudly.

But...

(now for the real reason I'm sharing this)

THIS is the part they often leave out on social media.

The messy part. 

The part when you were [not who you are today].

The part that says "I'm not there yet". Nowhere close.

Often times, they only show you the highlight reel here, convincing you that "overnight" means overnight. That it's easy. No, it isn't. It takes decades sometimes!

(at least it did for me)

Never forget where you came from, friend.

Never get complacent. Always stay grounded.

I've never sent a cold DM on LinkedIn. But...

I've left over 250,000 comments and replies.

Every work day, I spend 2-3 hours on LinkedIn ONLY in the comments and in the DMs. 

But this has brought me 1000s of "warm" DMs from:

1. People who already know me.
2. People who have already seen me.
3. People whom I know have interest in me.

The best part? 

I've never used automation for this.
I've never hired a VA to help with this.
I've never used AI to help speed this up.

Am I crazy? Maybe.

Did it work? Yepsolutely.

Because it builds my brand AND my business!

1. This is why I'm never worried about post reach here. Commenting always gives me "more reach".

2. It puts me in networks and circles which I control, not at the mercy of some "brew" algorithm.

3. It grows my topical authority. Because only 2-5% of my followers see my posts. The rest sees my comments. Or I meet them in the DMs afterwards.

So hear me when I say this:

Commenting is always your best time investment on LinkedIn. It will forever be this way.

If someone tells you otherwise...

They're not commenting THAT WELL. ✌️

2. 98% said "Yes, I'm interested".

3. 12% purchased it on the very same day.

4. Same day, this took us to the very top of the Most Profitable communities list globally (out of 2,700+)

5. We rewarded a couple members with a short-form video package (collab with the GOAT Diwas)

5. I received gifts from my members at my doorstep from addresses I can't even pronounce. Thank God for FedEx and DHL. (gifts were for my son mostly ❤️)

6. We announced a book. (more on this soon)

7. Announced Chris Do as our newest guest in the community. His second time!

I'm blessed. 🤲

So if this doesn't tell you to... No. ↴

1. All we do is write words online. Talk to strangers on a webcam. And get paid for it. Ridiculously well-paid.

2. We pretend like we have it figured out. We don't. We just do it more confidently. And have better selfies.

3. I literally made more money this year than my mom and dad made in their entire careers. Together.

Most LinkedIn users are lost right now.

It's why I decided to write this post.

I've trained over 57,000 people how to use LinkedIn for business. This 2-minute guide gives you 26 tips on how to make the most of LinkedIn in 2026:

(Save for later OR Repost now ♻️)

1. Align your topics with your profile. The algo doesn't reward fitness tips from finance experts anymore.

2. Make sure your headline draws people IN first. Your headline is irrelevant once they're already ON your profile. Then, the banner + story should take over.

3. Design a banner that actually has a call to action. 99% of banners I see on LinkedIn lack a CTA.

4. Add a link to your profile. Send visitors to your most desired business offer. Make each visit count.

5. Even if you offer multiple things, pick ONE core offer AND model your profile around it. In 2026, I'll model it around my students: https://linkupbyjasmin.com

6. Add links to posts too. Doing so is fine.

7. Comment more than you post. 4 groups: peers, ideal clients, big influencers, and small creators.

8. Forget posting every day. Stick to 3-5 weekly posts, but make them good. Good content lives longer in the feed now. Frequency won't change that.

9. Add visuals when needed. Faces are most powerful.

10. Stop sharing contextless selfies. (unless you do it all the time, and it's part of your brand)

11. Text posts are making a comeback. Write more.

12. Share your opinions, not just tips and tricks. Information is currency. But your POV is gold.

13. Ask more nuanced questions. Ditch the standard "yes/no" for something more meaningful. People REALLY crave real conversations here.

14. Stop using AI for comments. Just... stop.

15. Write for the first 3 lines of your post. Everything else is irrelevant unless they hit "read more". 

16. Share moments. It converts better than just "pro tips". Just last week, I wrote about taking time off, as well as flying people around the world.

17. Most people don't know this but... Optimize your settings here too, especially Visibility. Make sure your public profile is actually "seen". 

18. Enable "InMail" in your settings so non-connections can message you. You'll thank me later.

19. Write longer posts from time to time. It works.

20. Post at least 1 video per month. It builds trust.

21. Write daily. Just for practice. Then... Publish your best, and shelve the rest.

22. Stop trying to appease the algo. You will never succeed. This stuff changes on the daily. 

23. Talk about your failures more. This stuff connects. Can't all be a highlight reel. But more importantly...

24. Flex more! Not the Lambo. Just overall... Talk about what you've done and ARE doing more. Nobody else will do this for you. So tell us!

25. Support and connect with new creators. Daily.

26. Support small creators too. Daily. ❤️

And voilà! 2026, sorted.

I gave myself a commenting challenge last week.

Not "more" comments → "new" comments!

I did 2 things:

1. Every time I published a new post, I made sure to interact with at least 50 new people under my post. People I have never spoken to before. Ever.

Result: Many fruitful DM conversations! Many new Link Up signups too. It felt great, to be honest!

And then in my feed:

2. Every time I opened my LinkedIn app, I'd purposely refresh it a few times so I see completely new people. And I'd make sure to support good posts.

Result: New profile views. Completely new profiles in my followers list. And side benefit → A LOT of those posts went viral after my comments. 😂

Lesson learned:

When your reach is low, you do what nobody wants to do. And that is to:

Stop complaining. And have fun again!

I've seen many posts talking about what's new, wondering what's most important, and some brilliant breakdowns from fellow LinkedIn colleagues.

But...

I know thousands of you look for my advice and guidance when it comes to LinkedIn. So hear me out:

I don't think there's much to worry about. 🤷‍♂️

If you already:

1. Write high-quality posts (save-able, share-able)
2. Write posts aligned with your actual roles / niches
3. Write posts without "write bla to get bla" schemes

4. Comment daily and well to expand your network
5. Start conversations with "new" commenters daily
6. Have a "varied" network of commenters (not pods)

7. Have a profile optimized for your specific offer
8. Send DMs to priority connections, no spamming
9. Spend actual time on this platform, not automated

Then you have nothing NEW to worry about.

And yes...

I know I'm oversimplifying this.

But 360Brew is not that big a deal...

If you've already been doing the right things. 😉

And if not, well... time to change your LinkedIn habits, I guess. And your morning brew. Cheers!

So let me give you 3 reasons:

1. It's a selling point. Nobody else "flies people out". But Link Up does. See how that works? It's an added value proposition → Give more than the competition.

Who says no to a free flight?!

2. I'm promoting my country, Bosnia and Herzegovina. You have no idea how many people told me "I never heard of Bosnia until I started following you".

And I believe them. 🇧🇦

3. It's a promise I made to myself a long time ago. That "I'll do things differently". All of this? I don't pay with a company card → I pay with my personal one.

Hotels always get shocked when I say "no invoice".

TL;DR:

1. Give more than the competition
2. Be a proud ambassador of your roots
3. Do it so cool, people can't believe it's real

This post is a letter to the younger me. 

Because everything I was taught was wrong.

(These 5 lessons literally changed my 3 businesses)

1. Don't launch anything super-late in the year:

Worst advice ever. I launched my Link Up community in late November last year. Sold out before day 1.

2. Give several pricing choices:

Hah! I only have Yearly memberships. No monthly, 3m and 6m options. This skyrocketed our sales. A visible "spike" in my sales analytics screenshots.

(we just introduced Lifetime → another A+ move)

3. Spend more time in the DMs than anywhere else:

I did. Most wasteful experience on LinkedIn ever. Instead, I switched to commenting 90% of the time and THEN started DMing my commenters. Wild difference.

4. Share EXACTLY how much money you make:

No.

5. Share the why, not the how:

Funniest advice ever. Sharing the how has literally transformed my entire life. And I get to enable others too. So WHY not share more of it?

HOW does it make sense to keep knowledge to yourself? You'll be gone in a few years, bud.

Life is too short for gatekeeping.

Bonus: Have fun in your content. Don't stress it.

I don't have a content plan. Never had one in all my years. I literally wrote this post 20 minutes ago. 

Just write what feels right. 

Otherwise, it'll never be alright.

I get this reaction a lot when I meet people.

So let me be blunt here.

1. Nobody else has access to my LinkedIn. 🚨

2. When did it become normal for "personal" brands to NOT respond to their own comments and DMs, to the point where others automatically assume you're NOT the one behind your own account?

And...

3. I have TWO superpowers (apparently):

↳ I remember 99% of my commenters when I meet them in person. Yes, even at 1,500 comments on average per post. Yes, even years later.

↳ I respond to every single DM myself. I don't automate the most human part of my business = conversations. Never will. (I sincerely hope I never will)

So to answer this once and for all:

"Is it really you in the LinkedIn DMs?"
"Is it really you in all those comments?"
"Is it really you in your newsletter replies?"

Yes, it's me. Always.

It's not that hard, y'all.

I don't give a hoot how many millions I make in my career, I pray to never be too busy to put everything "on hold" and spend time with my loved ones. 

My son. My parents. My partner. My friends.

This was the whole point. ‼️

→ To have "enough" income so you CAN rest freely and go spend it with those you do it for.

→ Not to make "more" money so you COULD potentially spend more time with them.

→ "A lot" vs. "Enough". These lines aren't blurry. They just have to be drawn.

Remember this:

A lot is good. But enough is more than enough.

→ Even if the hook is good.
→ Even if the advice is valuable.
→ Even if I actually like the author.

3 easy ways to get more replies on your post:

1. Ask a Yes/No question
2. Ask for numbers or figures
3. Ask a specific question; with examples 

(I'll do number 3 in the next 7 seconds)

I tested this out with 100s of clients. And it always works. Especially if you don't overcomplicate it.

Ask a question, okay? It works.
