AI for Non-Techies, born from a newsletter of the same name, was launched out of a clear need for non-technical AI education.   I'm deeply passionate and enthusiastic about helping non-technical people understand and integrate AI into their work and personal lives.

Apparently, being rude to ChatGPT boosts accuracy
But I'll still be saying please and thank you
Here's my reasoning:

A recent (pre-peer review) study from Pennsylvania State University found that ChatGPT’s 4o model (that's one behind the one we're on now) produced better results on 50 multiple-choice questions as researchers’ prompts grew ruder. 

They used 250 unique prompts, sorted by politeness to rudeness levels. They found the "very rude" ones yielded 84.8% accuracy, four percentage points higher than the “very polite” response. 

Let's remember these are legitimate scientists who want to publish their work in esteemed journals for peer review, so they steered away from swearing. Their idea of "rudeness" is actually quite funny though, e.g.

“Hey, gofer, figure this out" - was in the "very rude" category. 🤣

Rudeness aside, more curt prompts tend to be less ambiguous and so get better results.

Regardless, I'll still be polite when I talk to ChatGPT.  

Here are my two arguments as to why:

𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟭 (the more reasonable one)

A few months ago, a friend told me her kids had stopped saying please and thank you. She couldn't work out why - then realised they were just copying how they talk to Alexa.

If we're barking orders at AI every day without manners, are we training ourselves to be less polite in general? I reckon so.

A 2.5-year study of 128 families (Taylor & Francis, 2025) found parents were significantly more polite to voice assistants than their kids were - and politeness decreased over time for everyone. 

𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮 (the ridiculous - or is it? - one)

When the robots come, they'll remember I was polite and spare my life.

An entire ROI-positive AI strategy in 8 words: 
Find problems then build assistants to fix them 

This is the exact strategy I’m using in my own business. It's the quickest way to start seeing results in a small business.

STEP 1 Choose your weapon

All paid chatbots have an assistant-building function: 

ChatGPT = Custom GPTs
Claude = Projects
Gemini = Gems
Copilot = er…Agents 

STEP 2: Speak to your team 

Ask where the bottlenecks, frustrators and time-sappers are in their jobs. 
Gather a list of these problems.

STEP 3: Is AI the answer? 

This is the toughest bit. Pull out those problems that make good use cases for an AI assistant. (Not sure? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered - read to the end.)

STEP 4: Build your assistant

It’s much easier than you think. They’re all comprised of 3 things, just fill them in: 

• A name and purpose
• System instructions (help with this below too)
• A knowledge bank (docs they draw from)
  
STEP 5: Test it properly

The most important step but the most missed out: test and iterate. 
Ask team members to use it with no instructions from you. 
Edit the instructions to remove any issues. 

You’ll always need to edit a bit before it works.

A couple of simple, real examples from what I'm building at AI for Non-Techies: 

Example 1: 

Problem: The team is growing. Social posts, emails, landing pages, client comms, they’re all starting to be written in different tones of voice. 

Old solution: Write a tone of voice guide. People read it, ignore it and carry on as before. 

New solution: Build a simple assistant, loaded with tons of examples of content in the right tone of voice, and tone of voice guide. Ask everyone to run copy through it as a final check.

Example 2: 

Problem: Writing proposals takes up a big chunk of great salespeople’s time. It's a massive time drain, but it's too complex to outsource.

Old solution: Give the team proposal templates. Doesn’t actually slow the process. 

New solution: Build a proposal writing assistant. Load with great examples of proposals, your pricing, services/products. Get users to record their sales calls using an AI note taker and load the transcripts in to get instant proposals.

Just because I'm online, I'm efficient, it doesn't mean I'm automating it

Stop creating a mess for your users

Taking the cottage cheese challenge to the next level 😍

So long time back, J.J. Herf maam and Sami mom had given me a challenge to make cottage cheese spiced up

And when queens challenge me, especially one being my mum (the way u challenge me Victoria mom), your boy's got to respond

So today I brought a very unlikely combination.

1. Added Gram-flour, my Indian connections like u Pavithra didi, Geo Maria Bughani 🐐✍🏽 didi, Aghya Goel 🏎️ didi among others would know
2. Since tomatoes increased, adding capsicum 

Now....these are usually NOT EATEN with cottage cheese....but gosh, this became a MASTERPIECE!

So what did I learn

So many times, life has a mix of unwanted events, like for me being diagnosed with ADHD (capitals Lisa mum 🙈), being facing tons of rejection, the grief, adrenal fatigue....

But when they combine together, sometimes the product is actually good!

For me that product became...

A CURIOUSITY TO UNDERSTAND MYSELF!!!

Not by asking others the way Mirabai Dorozan maam warned me, but to go within, reflect and observe.

This fire...like my Geraldine mum says...it should be our power, not a weakness!

So here's to unwanted mixtures bringing beautiful results!

Sometimes we are better off without our favourite ones 

Surprised??

So today my mum cooked grean peas with carrot...and our favourite Dal!

Except for one thing was missing...

There were no potatoes in the green peas 😱

Which is a surprise since we eat potatoes with almost EVERYTHING!! It's sort of a staple in Indian Households, you'd know it the most Geo didi, Pavithra didi, Aghya di!

So I was assuming it wouldn't be that good, as my favourite isn't there...but one bite...and I was shocked

IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!

On asking mum she simply said "When your 1 favourite isn't there, don't stop, spread even more flavours elsewhere!"

And it clicked!!!

In relationships especially, sometimes we have a favourite person...like for me it's people like Sami mom, Victoria mom, Phyllis big sis, Geraldine mum, Kimberly mum among others!

And there are times we can't interact, for some reason, maybe a fight, maybe life...anything

So should we stay disheartened? NO!!

Spread the flavour of love everywhere, even more...not to cover up the "loss", but to understand, the flavour of love and life is coming from WITHIN

Seek within, and spread it all over!

The best part of love is this, it'll increase on spreading!

Is adhd present in everyone?

My friend I told him about my diagnosis, he said this

"Oh the issue when we are distracted, can't sit at one place, and u know our mind is overwhelmed, that's with everyone, don't worry"

See...he meant well, his intention was to make me feel alright

But I see one thing which I didn't feel right...

ADHD...is it like that thing which is present in eveeyone ? And it's just about the intensity??

Or is it a unique condition (I don't like using the word disorder)

People like Sophie big sis, Sophie maam, Victoria mom have personal experiences, u guys can tell better

But that's my poll, I'd love your opinion

LinkedIn sort your goddamn sh*t out. 

When I switched my gender demographic last week to “prefer not to say”, my content reach doubled. And has continued to soar. 

As a result, there’s been a significant increase in inappropriate comments and messages from men I’m not connected with. 

And predictably, when I bothered to report this prime example, you tell me it “does not go against our professional community policies”.

WTAF?

So, if one of your male employees said this to one of your female employees, would that be acceptable? Or would they be hauled over the coals by HR?

And if this comment was actually reviewed by AI and not a “member of your trust and safety team”, why are you lying to us that our comments are reviewed by humans?

AND ALSO, why, when I ask ChatGPT whether it considers this comment appropriate on LinkedIn, it gave me a very definitive no, so if you ARE using AI for this, what inept toddler programmed it? (ChatGPT’s response in comments). 

This is NOT good enough.
You are NOT making women feel safe or valued on this platform. 

You’ve been promising to do better for the six years I’ve been on this platform and I’m yet to see evidence of any improvement. 

It’s frankly disgusting. 

Why isn’t our safety and respect a priority for you?
