I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might have to consider a pivot right now.

In this brutal market with so many good folks out of work, making such a hard decision is becoming more of a reality.

And it sucks. 

Let's not sugar coat it. It's a brutal decision to have to consider, accept and then take action on.

But where to start?

👉 I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this, as I had to pivot 11 years ago, and it was hard AF. 

The first step is accepting the fact that pivoting isn't a sign of failure. 
→ Most of the time, the causes are outside of your control. 

The second step is doing a true self-awareness assessment of your strengths, weaknesses, skills, and passions, and finding where the overlap is and focusing on those traits and mapping them to industries and roles.

The third step is taking action. It takes work, like REAL work. Researching deeply into the industries then companies that are hiring for the types of new roles that you are looking for. 

→ Then digging into your network, reaching out for informational interviews, reestablishing contacts and having those conversations that should lead to door opening opportunities. 

And you have to apply, a lot. And accept that there will be a lot of rejection.

BUT KEEP GOING.

* The hardest step is accepting that you might have to take a couple of steps backwards financially and title in an effort to realign to make leaps forward!

Have faith, work your a$$ off and good things will happen! Be open to change and know that it will either be temporary or potentially put you on the trajectory of a new path that will be fulfilling and rewarding! 

Have faith.

Accountable for developing all aspects of a start-up sales organization including hiring, financial planning, reporting, sales goals, team metrics, develop incentive compensation plans, implement pricing strategy and establish a go-to-market blueprint.  Recruited 12 new sales reps, trained and grew team from $0 to a $15MM annualized run rate in 10 months.

Director of Insides Sales - Healthcare National Accounts 

KeyBank Commercial

Started inside sales team for American Express Business Finance (NYSE: AXP) to focus on new business development and program management for healthcare national and regional customers throughout the country. Responsibilities included: recruiting, financial planning, pricing, project management and on-site customer solicitation, training and program implementation. Managed 15 direct reports and grew sales revenue to $175M exceeding both new revenue and margin targets by an average of more than 25%.

Successfully managed through Key Equipment Finance's (NYSE: KEY) acquisition of American Express Business Finance and led the relocation of the entire healthcare inside sales team from New Jersey to Colorado while continuing to grow new finance origination by 30%.

National Sales Manager - Healthcare National Accounts

Hewlett-Packard Financial Services

Promoted to a new leadership position for the recently segmented SMB North America inside sales team after the acquisition of Compaq Computer by Hewlett-Packard. (NYSE: HPQ) Responsible for 40 sales reps in the US and Canada with call centers in Murray Hill, NJ, Colorado Springs, CO, Toronto, Ontario and Halifax, Nova Scotia.  

Accountable for new equipment lease origination, sales rep development, financial planning, pipeline management, forecasting and marketing programs. Additionally, managed relationships with national HP SMB distributors and HP Direct sales management.  Built business up to $325MM with an average YOY sales growth of 30% and expanded profitability by 18%.

Inside Sales Manager – SMB North America

Performed functions of out-bound sales and account management for a $15MM sales territory. Responsibilities included soliciting small-ticket, mid-ticket, and government equipment financing business within Compaq's VAR channel. Customers included: CDW, Wine.com, and the Motley Fool. Consistently exceeded sales and profitability targets each year in the role with an average YOY sales growth of 40%.

Financial Area Manager - Inside Sales

Wireworks Corporation

Tasked with driving new business for audio-video cabling assemblies in the live entertainment industry. I led outreach soliciting efforts locally across NYC, NJ, and PA, while representing the company at multiple national trade shows each year. From live sound designers and theatrical rental houses to AV contractors, theme parks, and broadcast networks, I built strong relationships and consistently exceeded sales targets. 

Notable clients included: The Tonight Show (NBC), ESPN Studios, Dollywood Parks & Resorts, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

While I operated from our office, I stayed closely connected to our customers by blending strategic sales execution with hands-on customer engagement. I grew revenue and exceeded sales targets each year in the position.
