Clarity builds trajectory.

A lot of smart women walk into a room assuming they're already a step behind. Already dismissed. Already racing uphill.

I get it. Been there. Sometimes, the resistance is real. Doors close. Eyebrows raise. You notice who's interrupted and who gets the nod.

But here's the trick: half of what rattles your confidence lives in your head, not in the room. If you carry the chip on your shoulder, it shows up before you do. Watch what happens to your energy, your words. People feel it. They mirror it.

Let them underestimate you. Let them think you're not the obvious choice. Then continue to SHOW UP, and do the work so thoroughly (and loudly) that they run out of reasons to look past you.

Document wins. Share results before you're asked. Take up your space. Let your value smack the doubters in the face.

You control if you're hard to ignore. The rest is just noise.

Respect is currency you mint yourself. Spend it accordingly.

Your silence is hella expensive.

Especially in your career.

I used to stay quiet when things felt unclear. When expectations shifted. When I had questions. I told myself it was patience.

It wasn’t.

It was avoidance.

Here’s what changed:

✔ I ask for clarity early
✔ I speak up when something feels misaligned
✔ I document decisions... (looks around) I DOCUMENTED DECISIONS!!!!
✔ I stop assuming others see what I see

Silence doesn’t protect you.

It just delays the conversation.

But here’s the cautionary tell…

In some environments, speaking up can feel threatening; not because you’re wrong, but because clarity disrupts ambiguity.

So you have to learn the art of positioning.

Timing matters.
Audience matters.
How you frame it matters.

Speaking up isn’t just about courage. It’s about awareness.

The goal isn’t confrontation. It’s alignment.

Where might speaking earlier and more intentionally... change the outcome?

Reminders don't drive renewals. Value does.

If your renewal strategy is just a calendar notification with a "Hey, your contract's almost up," you're already too late.

I see it everywhere. Teams wait until 90 days out, then scramble with email blasts and desperate check-ins. Nobody likes these. Customers don't read them. The real decision was made six months ago. 

Here's what actually works:
1. Map every renewal to moments of real value, not contract dates.
2. Use the data. When usage peaks or drops, have a real conversation. Not about features, but about output. 
3. Show up with proof. "Here's how your team doubled efficiency last quarter." If your dashboard can't do that, what are you really selling?
4. Stop with the 'just checking in' noise. If you don't have an ROI story to tell, don't book the call.

Proactive renewal means never asking, "Are you staying?" Instead, you're saying, "Here's why you should want more."

Too many SaaS companies treat renewals as a finish line. It's not. It's a test.

Do your customers see enough value to justify another year?
Or did you just remember their name at the last minute?

If you're ready to stop losing sleep over renewals, start building value conversations well before anyone hears the word "renewal."

That party is winding down.

If your job is to host check-ins, send birthday wishes, and keep everyone smiling, you'll be first on the AI chopping block. Every step of that playbook is getting standardized, measured, and automated. Fast.

The new game: durable revenue.

Leaders care about two things, growth and risk. If you aren't translating customer behavior into clear dollar value, you're already irrelevant.

Here's where the actual value shows up:
Spotting expansion paths before sales does.
Flagging churn before it leaks into the forecast.
Connecting product requests to payback, not "nice to have."
Spelling out exactly where wallet share lives and dies by your results.

Surprise: the next wave of CSMs won't be pipeline cheerleaders or support ranters.

You've got to morph into a revenue strategist that leadership trusts with actual outcomes. Influence headcount. Shift product strategy. Model retention in hard numbers. Speak in impact, not anecdotes.

No one pays to be liked. They pay because you make business outcomes obvious, early, and repeatable.

The word “networking” feels transactional.

Like business cards and elevator pitches and subtle competition.

But connecting feels different.

Connecting is curiosity.
It’s asking someone how they got here and actually listening.
It’s remembering what matters to them.

And I couldn’t help but notice that the strongest professional relationships I’ve built didn’t start with strategy.

They started with genuine interest.

Here’s the truth I’ve come to believe:

Life is really just a bunch of humans roaming around trying to find other humans they think are cool... and deciding to adopt them into their lives.

That’s it.

Networking feels like extracting value.
Connecting feels like building something.

And only one compounds.

So my question is... Is networking strategic by nature... or does it only work when it’s authentic?

They try to level up while clinging to every old job title, attachment, or process that ever worked for them. Can't let go of "what worked before." Those should have retired ideas eat your bandwidth.

The things that used to get you results become an anchor.

I see it every week. Brilliant operator, stuck in neutral. Won't drop an obsolete tactic. Won't end a client relationship that's dead weight. Treats dusty accolades like armor and wonders why they're not getting invited to the next room.

Sometimes it's ego pretending to protect your standards. Other times it's comfort, dressed up as loyalty.

At some point, you have to decide: run your career like a museum, or treat it like a portfolio. Curate new bets, let old investments go.

Space doesn't create itself. Want real upside? Free up capacity for the next play.

I've made that call. Shut down playbooks that outlived their use. Walked away from partnerships with nothing left but politeness. The irony is, you rarely miss what you were so scared to lose.

If you don't step out of your past, someone else will. And they'll beat you to the future.

Be ruthless about what stays in your hands. The rest is drift.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about Punch the Monkey.

About how isolation doesn’t always look obvious. (For Punch is was very obvious) Sometimes it shows up quietly... in the way we brace before meetings, in the careful way we choose our words, in the subtle shrinking that happens when we’re trying to stay safe.

And I couldn’t help but wonder how many of us have lived versions of that story in corporate life.

Because when the environment feels uncertain, or critical, or emotionally draining, we adapt.

We stay agreeable.
We tolerate more than we should.
We convince ourselves that stability is enough.

After all, the idea of being unemployed; or stepping into the unknown, can feel far more frightening than staying somewhere that doesn’t fully see us.

So we hold on.

Even when feedback feels more like erosion than growth.
Even when our impact quietly goes unnoticed.
Even when we’re only called into conversations when something is wrong.

Over time, adaptation starts to feel normal.

But adaptation isn’t the same as belonging.

Punch’s journey reminds me that healing takes time and that finding environments where you’re genuinely valued isn’t always immediate. It’s something we discover as we learn to recognize what respect actually feels like.

Corporate life doesn’t have to mean being tolerated.

It can mean being supported. Seen. Trusted.

Maybe the goal isn’t just keeping the job.

Maybe the goal is finding a place where you don’t feel like you have to shrink to stay.

Because at some point, endurance stops being resilience... and starts becoming self abandonment.

Your manager isn’t your career strategy.

They’re a partner. Not the plan.

I used to believe career growth was something that would naturally unfold through good performance and supportive leadership.

But managers change. Priorities shift. Businesses evolve.

Here’s what I do now:

✔ I define my own direction
✔ I communicate goals clearly
✔ I seek feedback intentionally
✔ I build relationships beyond one person

Ownership creates momentum.

Waiting creates drift.

If you aren’t where you want to be, it’s not your manager.
Not your company.
Not the market.

And before anyone pushes back, I don’t mean blame. I mean ownership.

There’s something powerful that happens when you stop waiting for circumstances to change and start asking different questions:

Where did I stay quiet?
Where did I settle?
Where did I avoid the hard conversation?
Where did I hand over control?

I’ve had moments where I realized I was frustrated... but also passive. Hoping someone would notice. Hoping something would shift.

It rarely does.

Careers don’t move because of hope. They move because of decisions.

That might mean asking for clarity.
Speaking up sooner.
Changing environments.
Being honest about what you want.

Ownership isn’t harsh. It’s freeing.

Because the moment you accept that your trajectory is yours… you stop waiting.

And you start moving.

I've watched teams waste weeks on process checks and second-guessing because nobody trusts anyone to just get it done. Sounds like "rigor" until you add up the hours lost babysitting each other.

Speed comes from trust. When people know each other's motives, they cut the nonsense. No endless consensus calls. No side deals. Just work.

Innovation? Same story. You only get real ideas from people who feel safe pushing back. If your meeting feels like a performance review, nobody's telling you the truth.

Want resilience? Build a team that doesn't crack under pressure because they know they've got each other's backs. That's how you weather chaos.

Throw all the tools and workflows you want at a team. If they're guarded, it won't matter. You're buying more friction.

The real cost isn't headcount or tech. It's the tax you pay every day trust is missing.

If your team feels slow, look for the trust gaps first. They're never in the budget, but you always find them in the results.

Most "efficiency" problems aren't process problems. They're trust problems with a spreadsheet mask.

Ignore that and watch your real costs multiply.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the invisible forces that shape our careers... and our lives.

The conversations that linger. The people who quietly change how we see things. The connections that seem small in the moment but somehow become defining later on.

There’s a kind of hidden economy at play and the more I notice it, the more I realize how much it influences the paths we take.

Maybe some of you are wondering why this topic feels so close to me.

Whelp ☕, relationships have always been one of my core values. I’ve seen, again and again, the power of strong, healthy connection! The kind that opens doors, creates safety, and reminds you that you’re not navigating things alone.

If I had to put words to what matters most, it would probably sound like this: TIME is number 1️⃣... and relationships are a very close 2️⃣. Everything meaningful seems to grow somewhere between the two.

And I couldn’t help but wonder… how differently might we move through our careers and our lives if we became more aware of the way we invest in the people around us?

Over the next few posts, I want to explore what I’ve learned about this quiet system; how we invest, what it costs, and how awareness changes the way we show up.

The Hidden Economy of Relationships

Here is my 5-9 wine🍷 down for tonight... Lately I’ve been having a soft reckoning with the life I thought I wanted.

Okay Okay give me 5 seconds to be dramatic, then we can move along. 
But this isn't in a "Burn it all down" kind of way 

More like... sitting on the couch after a long week, doom scrolling, and realizing some of the things I chased don’t fit the same way anymore.

It’s quiet.

It shows up in small questions.

Why did I want that title so badly?
Was it for me... or because it sounded impressive?
Do I still want the version of success I built my twenties and thirties around?

And I couldn’t help but notice how much of our ambition is inherited.

The career paths that looked safe.
The milestones that felt like proof.
The “next level” that everyone says you’re supposed to want.

Some of us built careers to feel secure.
Some built them to feel chosen.
Some built them because success was the one thing we could control.

But what happens when you realize you’ve outgrown the blueprint?

Not because you failed.

Because you evolved.

A soft reckoning isn’t regret.

It’s refinement.

It’s looking at your life, your career, your relationships, your pace and asking, “Is this still aligned with who I am now?”

And maybe the bravest thing isn’t climbing higher.

Maybe it’s adjusting the definition.

The Moment I Stopped Waiting

Your inner critic is probably the only thing in the office working overtime. 🕰️

Corporate life sees you walking around with a target on your back and inbox. 🎯
Slack? Ping. "Quick feedback."
Docs? Comments swirling like a hive of bees. 🐝
1:1s? Here comes the "constructive" barrage.

Here's the unwelcome truth: most feedback isn't about you. 
Some of it is helpful. 
Some is projection, pure and simple. 
Some comes from people who've never done your job a day in their lives.

Yet your inner critic will gladly turn every comment into a grenade. 
If you let it.🥴

Here's how I stopped handing my inner critic more ammo:

- 1️⃣ question: Do I actually value this person's opinion? 
If yes, consider it. 
If not, "Noted," and then move on.

- 2️⃣: Is this feedback about my work or about me as a person? 
Work can always improve. 
I'm not a problem to be fixed.... Pause...

Say it again " I AM NOT A PROBLEM TO BE FIXED"

- 3️⃣: Is this a pattern or just a loud one-off? 
Truth doesn't show up as a single random comment.

- 4️⃣: If a friend came to me with this, how would I react? 
I'd be way kinder than I am to myself.

When in doubt, I pull up my "wins" document. 
A living list of real things I've actually done. 
Proof cuts through the noise better than any pep talk.

The hard part? 
Understanding you can be a work in progress and still be damn good at your job!!!!!!!!! 👑

The most important career question I was asking for too long:

"How do I prove I deserve more?"

I should have been asking: "Why am I in a structure where I have to keep proving this?"

I spent years in environments that underpaid and underutilized me. Then I spent more years doing work that outpaced my title. Leading implementations, running stakeholder meetings that shaped seven-figure decisions, going home and updating my accomplishments tracker because I knew I'd need receipts someday.

The feedback was always the same: "You're doing great work. There's just not a path right now."

I’ll say the quiet part out loud that people won’t always tell you early in your career:

Some organizations don't have a path because they don't need to build one for you. You're more valuable as a high performer at your current level than as a promoted person they'd have to backfill. The chaos gets managed. The re-orgs keep happening. The people causing the most disruption somehow keep moving up.

This isn't always malicious. Sometimes it's just structural negligence: leadership so focused on the enterprise view that the people doing the actual work become an afterthought.

But it will cost you YEARS if you don't see it for what it is.

What changed for me wasn't a new skill or another certification. It was finally asking the harder question: is this ceiling about me, or is it about the walls of this building?

For me it was the building.

The work you've been doing has always been proof enough. The question was never whether you were capable. It was whether you were in the right room.
