I build partnerships that stand up to scrutiny and scale—and I push them into new territory.

My work sits at the intersection of national civic engagement and strategic partnerships. Across the UK I convene councils, civic societies and faith-led organisations to co-design funds, strengthen governance and turn lived experience into investable programmes. In the INGO space I lead corporate partnerships and sponsor-ready initiatives, bringing the operating discipline—OKRs, impact dashboards, ethics in sponsorship—that gives brands and public bodies the confidence to back bold ideas.

I’m known for policy → delivery → proof: clear compacts, open KPIs and outcomes you can publish. From mosque boards and city forums to brand teams and ministries, I align incentives and get coalitions working in the real world. Internationally, I advise on sport-led social outcomes and build Saudi–UK collaboration across culture,religion and community.

I also work on philanthropy and social good: designing grantmaking frameworks, corporate giving and diaspora-led funds that move money responsibly and transparently—so generosity becomes measurable impact.

Last night I had the honour of attending the Eid Reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect walking through that door. Though I will say Larry the Cat was there to greet me at the entrance. Apparently he vets all guests before the guards do.

The room brought together leaders, community voices and changemakers from right across the country. Being in the same space as the Prime Minister, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood MP , Health Secretary Wes Streeting, Faith Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Home Office Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls Jess  Phillips, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Lucy Powell and so many others felt significant.

The Prime Minister’s message centred on acceptance, unity and the strength that comes from our diversity. And given everything we’ve seen in this country over the past few years, from the riots to the rising hate crime figures to the debates about who belongs here and who doesn’t, hearing that message from the highest office in the land genuinely meant something.

I’ve spent years working across the Muslim third sector trying to build bridges, create space for communities and contribute to a more cohesive Britain. Moments like last night remind me why that work matters and why it’s worth continuing.

We launched Aruuri last week. A community fund pooling small monthly contributions to support vetted, locally led projects across the Horn of Africa.
In just a few days we are already closing in on our first 1,000 dollars in the fund.

The most blessed endeavours often start small, but what has surprised me is how quickly people have moved from “this is a nice idea” to “here is how we can build on this together.”

Since launch, donors have been referring projects and frontline partners they trust. Remittance leaders are exploring how Aruuri can sit alongside their rails, testing ways we can plug into existing customer journeys and build on the momentum we are seeing. East African organisations are reaching out with ideas for missions, co-funding and long-term collaboration. It feels less like a product launch and more like tapping into an energy that was already there.

At its core Aruuri is simple: turn fragmented remittances and one-off donations into pooled, long-term capital for healthcare, education and livelihoods projects that communities themselves have a stake in. Give contributors a live window into what is being funded, what impact it is having, and what is still waiting in the pipeline.

We are still early, and we are learning a lot every day, but the response so far has been a strong signal that there is real demand for transparent, community-owned infrastructure that can sit between the diaspora, remittance flows and frontline organisations. We are grateful for the trust people have already shown and excited to share what comes next.

Secondment to Transport For London - Piccadilly Line Upgrade Programme (Feb 2024 - Dec 2024)

Worked on the £2.9bn Piccadilly Line upgrade programme for Transport for London which will introduce new rolling stock fleet alongside completing associated enabling works.

Key responsibilities: 
Compiling works information packs, tender documents and submission of Early Warning Notices in line with NEC3.

Managing a multidisciplinary team consisting of contractors and engineers to successfully deliver and handover works in line with TfL pathway protocols.

Acting as an evaluator within the procurement process to ensure compliance and accuracy whilst clarifying tender queries from bidders.

Collaborating with the project control team to prepare for gate review meetings, ensuring adherence to TfL project governance protocols in readiness for approval from sponsors and stakeholders for the project to progress to the next stage.

Experience in managing change requests and presenting to change board to enable risk drawdown in readiness for contract award.

Responsible for assessing and approving application for payments.

Identifying and managing dependencies between the various sub – projects that could impact the critical path.

Liaising with the risk manager in raising new risk whilst assessing and identifying relevant risks to drawdown from the risk budget and conducting risk phasing.

Responsible for managing the assumption register and conducting review to assess their impact on the programme.

Involved in periodic programme meetings to ensure milestones are on track to be achieved.

Involved in cost review meetings and resource forecasting to ensure successful project budget management.

Planning & collaboratively engaging with the interface and integration manager to discuss possession limits and access that are available for use for the contractor to undertake works in possession hrs.

Review of health & safety documents that consistent of CPP & SSOW.

Involved in supporting Network Rail’s sustainability strategy by ensuring 10% of their car parking spaces are allocated to EV charging points.

Responsible and directly managing the rollout of EV charging points across Network Rail car parks with a cost forecast of approximately £4.5 million.

Managing a multi – disciplinary team that involve project engineers to contractors.  

Reporting and managing risks whilst providing mitigation measures to eliminate or treat them. 

Involved in cost reviewing meetings to ensure accurate forecast and budget allocations were undertaken.

A key team member within the procurement process from drafting and reviewing tender documents to evaluating supplier submissions.

Directly responsible for managing the legal process to ensure power is provided to the EV charging points by the Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

Working with project engineers to review designs for engineering assurance on mechanical and electrical bias projects.

Involved in a Multi-Million-pound scheme to replace the impulse fan/ventilation system at one of Network Rail managed station by producing a detailed route requirements document and liaising with the stakeholders to define the project requirements. 

Ensuring communication with key stakeholder is maintained to ensure successful delivery and key milestones are met.

Attended design review meetings and option selections reviews and ensured that actions given are closed out within an agreed time frame.

An active team member of works delivery building that facilitates in the completion of projects which are in line with health and safety standards.

Representing the company and building excellent relationships with contractors that will leave an impression that is desirable.

Worked with the Project Engineering team to review design packages related to building services.

Projects included the refurbishment of a carriage washing machine ,a HVAC system and the renewal of a fuel tank system at one of Network Rails depots.
