Jetzt ist es soweit. Die Sendung „Mise au Point” von RTS - Radio Télévision Suisse hat einen Beitrag über das Ende des Tabus der Menopause („Ovaires et contre tout”) ausgestrahlt.

Der Bericht von Noémie Guignard zeigt auf tolle Weise verschiedene Aspekte des Themas und macht deutlich, dass es zwar Leiden gibt, wir das Thema aber auch mit Humor und Leichtigkeit angehen sollten.

👍 Bravo an, Sophie Roussel Laybros, dass so gut über diese Bewegung der Befreiung des Wortes gesprochen wurde.
💪 Das Interview von mesdames.media zeigt deutlich, dass das Interesse enorm ist und dass Frauen ab 45 Jahren Informationen und Lösungen erwarten.

Then, in 2005, I decided to walk away from my high-paying management consulting job. 

But, before I could, I had a hypothesis.

Nicht Lösungen.
Nicht Erklärungen.
Nicht Expertise.

Sondern etwas viel Einfacheres und Wirksameres.

Männer müssen die Wechseljahre nicht verstehen, um unterstützend zu sein.

Was Frauen wirklich wollen:

🔹 Zuhören statt reparieren
„Ich bin da. Was brauchst du heute?“ Diese Frage reicht oft.

🔹 Raum geben statt interpretieren
Nähe, Distanz, Ruhe, Gespräch. Es darf sich ändern. Von Tag zu Tag.

🔹 Verstehen, dass sich Dinge verschieben
Stimmung (Mood), Gedächtnis, Energie. Das sind keine Charakterfragen. Das sind hormonelle Veränderungen.

🔹 Nicht alles persönlich nehmen
Wenn sich Verhalten verändert, ist das kein Rückzug gegen jemanden, sondern ein innerer Prozess.

Das Entscheidende:
Männer müssen keine Experten sein.
Sie müssen präsent sein.

Diese Haltung wirkt nicht nur in Partnerschaften.
Sie wirkt auch im Berufsleben.

Denn Führung beginnt dort, wo Menschen sich gesehen fühlen,
ohne sich ständig erklären zu müssen.

Vielleicht ist genau das der Perspektivwechsel, den wir jetzt brauchen.

Der Tag, an dem ich dachte, ich hätte Alzheimer,

war kein medizinischer Ausnahmefall.
Er war ein Arbeitsplatzmoment.

Was viele nicht wissen:
Konzentrationsprobleme, Wortfindungsstörungen, mentale Erschöpfung
das sind häufige Symptome der (Peri-)Menopause.
Und sie treffen Frauen oft mitten in ihrer beruflichen Hochphase.

Das Problem ist nicht die Biologie.
Problematisch wird es, wenn Betriebe sie nicht verstehen.

Denn was dann passiert, ist leise:
Frauen zweifeln an sich.
Ziehen sich zurück.
Reduzieren Pensum.
Oder gehen ganz.

Nicht weil sie weniger können.
Sondern weil niemand erklärt hat, was gerade passiert.

👉 Wechseljahre am Arbeitsplatz sind kein Tabuthema.
Sie sind ein Leadership-Thema.

Wer hinschaut,
hält Erfahrung im Unternehmen,
schützt Gesundheit
und stärkt Vertrauen.
Und genau darum geht es.

Die Menopause-„Penalty“ und warum Führung hier den Unterschied macht

Wir sprechen viel über den Motherhood Penalty.
Zu wenig aber über das, was am anderen Ende des Berufslebens passiert.

Eine neue ökonomische Studie zeigt:
Auch die Menopause hat einen messbaren Preis für Frauen und für Unternehmen.

Die Forscher:innen Gabriella Conti, Rita Ginja, Petra Persson und Barton Willage haben Bevölkerungsdaten aus Norwegen und Schweden analysiert. Das Ergebnis ist klar:

👉 Nach einer Menopause-Diagnose sinken Einkommen und Erwerbsbeteiligung dauerhaft.
👉 Vier Jahre später liegen die Einkommen im Schnitt 7,4 % tiefer.
👉 Gleichzeitig steigt die Abhängigkeit von Sozialleistungen.

Nicht, weil Frauen weniger wollen.
Sondern weil Symptome wie Schlafmangel, Konzentrationsprobleme, Angst oder Erschöpfung reale Produktivitätsschocks sind.

Die gute Nachricht:
Die Studie zeigt auch, dass besserer Zugang zu Menopause-Gesundheitsversorgung die Verluste deutlich abfedert. Information, medizinische Begleitung und frühe Unterstützung wirken.

Für Führungskräfte heisst das:
• Menopause ist kein individuelles Problem, sondern ein strukturelles
• Leistung hat biologische Grundlagen
• Wer hier unterstützt, hält Erfahrung, Motivation und Produktivität im Unternehmen

Vielleicht ist es Zeit, die Menopause nicht länger zu ignorieren,
sondern als das zu behandeln, was sie ist: ein Leadership-Thema.

Zu wenig Chefs. Und wir übersehen die Falschen.

Führungspositionen sind unbeliebt geworden.
Hohe Belastung. Viel Verantwortung. Kaum Luft fürs Leben.
Nur jede siebte Person sagt heute noch klar: Ja, ich will führen.

Und jetzt die unbequeme Frage:
Warum schauen wir in dieser Situation so selten auf Frauen 45+?

Dabei sitzen genau hier Erfahrung, Überblick und Urteilskraft.
Menschen, die Teams kennen.
Konflikte gesehen haben.
Und wissen, dass Führung mehr ist als Status.

Was viele abschreckt, schreckt Frauen 45+ besonders ab:
→ endlose Verfügbarkeit
→ Präsenzkultur
→ Führung = Aufopferung

Kommt dann noch die Phase der Wechseljahre dazu, wird aus Zurückhaltung oft Rückzug.
Nicht, weil Kompetenz fehlt.
Sondern weil Rahmenbedingungen fehlen.

Das ist kein individuelles Thema.
Das ist ein Leadership-Design-Problem.

Wenn Führung flexibler gedacht wird,
in Teilzeit, im Jobsharing, mit Fokus auf Wirkung statt Dauerpräsenz,
werden Führungsrollen wieder attraktiv.
Gerade für Frauen 45+, die führen könnten und wollten, wenn man sie lässt.

Mein Punkt:
Der Mangel an Führungskräften ist real.
Die Lösung ist greifbar.
Wir müssen Führung neu bauen und Frauen in den Wechseljahren bewusst einladen, nicht still verlieren.

Vielleicht ist genau jetzt der Moment, genauer hinzuschauen.
Denn wer hier führt, führt Menschen.
Und stärkt das ganze Unternehmen.

Gute Arbeit entsteht nicht im Stillen.
Sie entsteht im Gespräch.

Viele Frauen erleben die (Peri-)Menopause so:
Symptome kommen. Unsicherheit auch.
Und oft folgt erst einmal: Schweigen.

Aus Angst vor Bewertung.
Aus Sorge, als „weniger belastbar“ zu gelten.
Oder weil man gelernt hat, dass Körperthemen im Job nichts verloren haben.

Dabei zeigt die Geschichte im Carousel etwas Entscheidendes:
👉 Schweigen kostet Energie.
👉 Sprechen schafft Lösungen.

Ein offenes Gespräch mit der Führungskraft ist kein Zeichen von Schwäche.
Es ist ein Akt von Selbstführung.
Wenn Frauen erklären können, was sich verändert
und was konkret hilft (Flexibilität, Pausen, klare Absprachen),
profitieren beide Seiten: Mensch und Unternehmen.

Für Führungskräfte heisst das:
✔️ Zuhören statt urteilen.
✔️ Verstehen statt relativieren.
✔️ Möglichkeiten schaffen statt Probleme ignorieren.

Wechseljahre am Arbeitsplatz sind kein Randthema.
Sie sind Alltag. Und sie sind gestaltbar.

👉 Die Frage ist nicht ob darüber gesprochen wird.
Sondern wie sicher wir diese Gespräche machen.

Was ist Ihr Ziel?

Eine Frau liegt im Sterben.
Brustkrebs im Endstadium.
Und sie entschuldigt sich, für ihr Schwitzen bei einer Umarmung.

Diese Szene stammt von Dr. Elizabeth Comen, Onkologin an NYU Langone Health und Autorin des Buches „All In Her Head“.
Sie zeigt etwas Erschreckendes und leider Alltägliches.

Viele Frauen entschuldigen sich beim Arzt:
für Schmerzen.
für Tränen.
für ihren Körper.

Nicht, weil sie „zu sensibel“ sind.
Sondern weil sie gelernt haben, dass ihre Symptome oft nicht ernst genommen werden.

Dr. Comen und Dr. Mary Claire Haver nennen das beim Namen: Medical Gaslighting

Die Wurzeln sind alt.
In der Medizingeschichte wurden Beschwerden von Frauen als Hysterie, Nervosität oder Angst abgetan.
Ein berühmtes Beispiel: William Osler, einer der Väter der Kardiologie, nannte Brustschmerzen bei Frauen „neurotische Angina“.
Sein Fazit: „Diese Frauen sterben nicht.“

Heute wissen wir:
Herzkrankheiten sind die Todesursache Nummer 1 bei Frauen.

Und trotzdem:
Frauen werden bei Brustschmerzen häufiger mit Panikattacken nach Hause geschickt.
Autoimmunerkrankungen betreffen zu 80 % Frauen, gelten aber nicht als „Frauenthema“.
Alzheimer ist doppelt so häufig bei Frauen und wurde jahrzehntelang kaum erforscht.

Das Problem ist nicht Biologie.
Es ist ein System.

Die gute Nachricht:
Es bewegt sich etwas.
Mehr Forschung. Mehr Stimmen. Mehr Frauen, die nicht mehr leise sind.

Die wichtigste Botschaft:
👉 Frauen müssen sich nicht entschuldigen, wenn ihr Körper spricht.
👉 Und Medizin, wie Führung, wird besser, wenn sie zuhört.

Vielleicht beginnt echte Veränderung genau hier:
Beim Ernstnehmen dessen, was lange überhört wurde.

Erlebt wird ein langer Weg.

Dieses Carousel zeigt den realistischen Zeitverlauf der Symptome in der Perimenopause. 
Nicht dramatisiert, sondern ehrlich. Und genau das ist wichtig für den Arbeitsplatz.

Was viele Führungskräfte nicht wissen:
Die Veränderungen kommen schleichend.
Erst Müdigkeit. Dann Konzentrationslücken. Später Schlafstörungen, Hitzewallungen, emotionale Schwankungen.
Nicht alles auf einmal. Aber genug, um Leistung, Selbstvertrauen und Präsenz zu beeinflussen.

Das Entscheidende:
👉 Das ist kein Leistungsabfall aus mangelnder Motivation.
👉 Das ist Biologie in Bewegung.

Unternehmen reagieren oft erst spät, wenn Symptome „sichtbar“ werden.
Dabei liegt die grösste Chance viel früher:
bei Wissen, Sprache und Führung.

Wer den Verlauf kennt,
führt anders.
Wer ihn ignoriert, verliert Erfahrung.

Wechseljahre am Arbeitsplatz sind kein HR-Trend.
Sie sind Realität.

Die Frage ist nur:
Begleiten wir sie oder lassen wir Frauen damit allein?

Der realistische Zeitablauf der Symptome in der Perimenopause

Manchmal ist es kein Burnout.
Kein Leistungsabfall.
Und schon gar kein persönliches Versagen.

Manchmal ist es die (Peri)Menopause.

Viele Frauen erleben im Job genau das:
Stimmung kippt schneller.
Reizschwelle sinkt.
Innere Unruhe steigt.
Und niemand sieht es.

Das Problem am Arbeitsplatz ist nicht die Veränderung selbst.
Sondern, dass sie unsichtbar bleibt.

Genau hier beginnt Führung.

Wer Wechseljahre versteht,
➨ bewertet Verhalten differenzierter
➨ führt mit mehr Klarheit statt Druck
➨ hält Leistungsträgerinnen im System

Und ja: Es gibt wirksame, alltagstaugliche Unterstützung.
Zum Beispiel evidenzbasierte, hormonfreie Optionen, die emotionales Gleichgewicht fördern und Frauen helfen, arbeitsfähig zu bleiben. ohne Stigmatisierung.

Mein Punkt:
Wechseljahre sind kein Randthema.
Sie sind Realität im Arbeitsalltag.

Und Unternehmen, die das anerkennen,
führen nicht weicher,
sondern klüger.

Moving across countries 13 years ago 
thought me one thing:
to let things go.

To start fresh.
To leave behind what no longer fit.

I’ll always remember the leader who made me cry.

Not out of shame or ego, 
but because he cared enough to be honest.

He showed me what I couldn’t see...
Where I was holding back...
He put a mirror right in front of me.

• Who gives you a nudge, or a hug, at exactly the right time.
• Who sees something in you before you see it yourself.

I have restarted multiple times.
Yes, that's true.

2024: Performance. Healing. Rest. 
2025: Standing up to everything inside and outside that wanted me small. 

2026: Dancing in the light.

Everyone asks me about my 2026 resolutions. 
I have just one word: Kanpe.
In Haitian Kreyòl, it means “to stand up” and "to rise".

But for us, it means so much more.

It’s the quiet power of resilience.
It’s standing tall in the face of hardship.
It’s dancing when the world wants to break you.

For me, 2025 wasn’t just about building a business.

 It was about standing up:
To the fear.
To the noise.
To the voices inside and outside that wanted me small.

2024 was a year of Performance. 
Healing. 
and Rest. 
Stepping onto global stages in Europe and Africa.
talking growth, AI, and careers.

But 2025?
It was heads-down.
Stepping fully into my purpose.
Coaching women, mentoring minorities, guiding those looking for their voice. Looking to build their brand authority.
Owning mine alongside them.

Oftentimes, it looked like working from home in my PJs, 
toddler on hip,
or relocating twice in a year searching of my dream community. 
Finding my vibe. 
And quietly walking away from places, people, 
and relationships that no longer served me. 

No matter how loud their stories were.
No matter what masks they were wearing this time. 

My ancestors fought for freedom.
And in my own way, 
so did I.

I stood up to the forces,
internal and external 
that tried to dim my light.
And I chose to carry it anyway.
So no, I don’t have a long list of resolutions.

In 2026, I’ll be dancing in the light. 
Every. Single. Day.
Grateful for making it another day. 
Literally standing 'kanpe'
and stepping it up. 💃🏾

no one is too busy, it's just a matter of priorities. This is your reminder today to take care of you.

The women getting promoted 2.3x faster know something about themselves that you're still figuring out. 

You think you fail because of your willpower.
The reality is you fail because of your identity.

Who do you believe you are?

Who you think you are drives your performance.
It also drives your success.

That’s one clear insight in James Clear's book Atomic Habits. 

You win when you can change who you believe you are. 

Then, you can add all the systems, the rules and the outcomes tied to who you know yourself to be.

When identity changes, behavior can follow. Not the opposite.

The best time to ask for a raise 
isn't at your annual review. 
It’s 48 hours after you made your boss look good to their boss.

 That’s the small window when you’re TOP OF MIND for them.  

This window of time is important, 
and as my kiddo says:
 It's "tiny tiny". 

This win is the "tiny tiny" window for you to ask for more.
...and the more you keep stacking these wins,  the more you can build your case for more...

Because in reality:
Your promotion might be delayed.  
But your raise doesn't have to be.

40% of companies now offer promotions without pay increases. 👀 
Which means you can negotiate a raise without the title.

Most professionals wait for their manager to bring it up.

The Top 5% creates the conditions that make "yes" inevitable.

Here are 6 simple ways to do it:

1/ Build your case 90 days early

Average: Asking during annual review with no prep
Top 5%: Tracking impact for 3 months before the ask

Document:
→ Revenue driven or protected
→ Costs reduced
→ Time saved
→ Problems solved outside your job description

"I improved morale" = nothing.
"I cut turnover by 40%, saving $180K in recruiting costs" = leverage.

2/ Time it right

Ask after:
→ A major win
→ You made your boss look good to their boss
→ Strong company earnings
→ During off-cycle reviews (62% of orgs now offer these)

Never ask during budget freezes or layoff rumors.

3/ Reframe it as market correction

Don't say: "I think I deserve more."
Say: "I'd like to discuss a market adjustment. My compensation doesn't reflect the level I'm delivering at."

You're not asking for a favor.
You're correcting a gap.

4/ Name the expanded scope

Your role grew. Your pay didn't.
Script: "When I started, I handled X. 
Now I'm doing X, Y, and Z. I want my comp to match the scope I'm already delivering."

This isn't "give me more for the same work."
This is "pay me fairly for the work that already changed."

5/ Give them a timeline

If budget is tight:

"I understand timing might be challenging. Can we set a date in 60 days to revisit? I'd like to know what I need to hit to make this happen."
Keeps it alive without the fight.

6/ Negotiate beyond base salary

Salary frozen?

Comp isn't just your base number. Ask for:
→ Professional development budget
→ Flex work arrangements
→ Performance bonus
→ Stock options
→ Extra PTO

Your promotion might take 18 months.
BUT your comp conversation can happen in 18 days.

If you wait for your company to value you, you'll be waiting a long time. Think about a 5 year old who says - impatiently: "Are we there yet?" It's all encompassing, all demanding and unmissable...  That's the energy you will need to stay top of mind and become unmissable.
