Strategic and technical experience of cloud based technologies including Infrastructure and Platform/Software as a Service operating within a rich co-existence environment. Practical experience of large scale 550+ seat hybrid cloud implementations within existing client environments. 

Responsible for client private infrastructure cloud rollouts using VMWare vSphere5 and associated technologies. Design and implementation of a number of highly available and resilient infrastructure platforms. Fibre Channel and iSCSI performance optimisation across a large number of virtual platforms. 

Achieved cost savings and ongoing support reductions for clients through environment simplification and increased virtualisation or PaaS/SaaS/Cloud adoption.

Solutions Delivery Manager

UnitingCare Health

Managed a team of five infrastructure engineers responsible for a medical network across four major Queensland hospitals. Provided senior technical assistance to clinical and financial application teams supporting Cerner, Oracle and SAP in addition to general financial and payroll systems.

Project manager and lead technical resource on a SAN replacement and business continuity project. Installed and configured an EMC VNX5300 storage array with 45TB capacity.  Migrated a number of key corporate and medical systems including Windows 2003/2008 File, Email and SQL servers in addition to SAP Clusters and AIX Application and Oracle DB Servers.  The project was completed ahead of schedule with no service interruption or unplanned downtime.

Infrastructure Team Leader

National Museum of Science and Industry

Internally promoted to Service Delivery Manager and Lead Technician for the UK’s National Railway Museum and National Media Museum.  Was responsible for managing a countrywide network and server platform supporting 800 front-of-house and back-of-house staff members. 

A $300,000AUD Cisco Call Manager 7 implementation to replace a failing analogue PBX;
A multi-site backup consolidation project, replacing a number of isolated backup servers with a single BackupExec platform;
A $75,000AUD investment in Apple server infrastructure to allow network based deployment, centralised control and management and single-sign-on (SSO) against an incumbent 2003 Active Directory system.

In addition, I acted as Lead Technician ensuring the reliable provision of 30+ Windows 2003/2008 servers and associated AD/DHCP/WINS/DFS/SQL/IIS services. Managed a site-wide Cisco WIFI system with WIFI LAN controller and 10 access points supplying private and public networks.

IT Service Delivery Manager

Assigned overall technical accountability for a national IT network within the UK, located across five heritage sector sites. Assisted with escalated technical issues, functioned as a member of the change advisory board (CAB) and owned most server, security or internet hosting incidents, problems or changes. Led a number of major projects including:

A 20TB backup migration project from NetBackup to BackupExec;
Planned and implemented a business wide migration of file storage towards a Microsoft Distributed file system (DFS);
A firewall consolidation project moving away from isolated Cisco PIX firewalls towards a centrally managed Checkpoint FW1 system.

Functioned as the department’s primary liaison with the NMSI web platform team, assisting with the technical implementation of the ‘SiteCore’ content management system running the primary museum website.  Promoted to ICT Service Delivery Manager and Lead Technician for the NMSI’s UK North operation.

I posted about a week ago that I was back to making content again. There's a bigger story behind why, and that is "I'm moving". I've been recording content in a single room at home for the past five years because of an understanding family and an enterprise Ethernet connection from Aussie Broadband and the nbn® Australia - but recently it's become harder due to outside noise (neighbors and an airport flight path).

In about a month I settle on a new property and so I'm moving (elsewhere in Brisbane) to a larger block of land (less noise/less neighbors) and because it has a few more rooms I can setup 1-2 of them to be dedicated recording and tech spaces - including a full sound proofed recording studio.

There is still a long way to go, and a few weeks of work to make it 100% ready after we move - and the 1-3 months to get a new Enterprise Ethernet connection in once we order it after the xmas/new year change embargo but I hope to be optimally churning out content again in January and once the internet connection is installed it should be much faster to upload everything and move all my onsite hosting to the new place (until we get the enterprise fiber we have a 5G cellular connection where the tower is about 3 minutes walk away!)

I'm excited, I can't wait to be 100% back. Don't worry, I'll be prepping the content and uploading as much as I can between now and then, but I wanted to let everyone know the good news that in Q1 2026 things are going to massively speed up!.

Progressing on my team has allowed me to gain a  plethora of experience developing automated business processes in a IT environment. My primary strength is problem solving, I am really driven to solve problems of all shapes and sizes. I also enjoy learning new tools and technologies, which has always been a passion.

I've worked in a variety of project-types including major transformation projects, run the buisiness, and production support. I've always positioned myself in a way where I can learn as much as possible and be as productive as possible. I understand that all deliverables have to have a manageable balance of quality and timeliness. 

I also try to learn tools that make my life easier. (for example GIT for source control, and Jenkins for build management). Also I have championed test-driven development throughout my career  as well. I feel that this can reduce QA time considerably.
