“I want to sell for 10x revenue because I heard that’s the average SaaS multiple.”

That mindset usually leads to disappointment.

Those outsized multiples exist, but they’re rare. They’re not the norm. And anchoring on them can stop you from selling at all, or worse, push you to go to market with expectations that just aren’t realistic.

For most startups, revenue multiples are the exception, not the rule. A much healthier way to think about valuation is based on profit. What does the business actually throw off? How predictable is it? How risky is it to run?

The only time revenue multiples really start to make sense is when you’re growing 100%+ year over year and already in the 7–8 figures of ARR. At that point, buyers are paying for what the business is becoming, not just what it is today.

If you want a real outcome, price for reality, not for headlines. The goal isn’t to win an online argument. It’s to close a deal you’re happy with.

Shred Cycle is helping brands hit their sustainability goals by providing circular materials for their products. We help companies with Zero Waste and end-of-life strategy. 

Shred Cycle is now a portfolio company of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and a member of the San Diego Sports Innovators.

Developing and innovating processes to repurpose and process polyurethane waste in the action sports industry, we're working to create the infrastructure needed for the Circular Economy.

Our efforts focus on helping skate brands achieve zero waste, traceability and assurance for recycled materials in the Outdoor Industry. Born out of a passion project, we launched the first-of-its-kind online, affordable service for skaters to send in their old used wheels.

- Punk rock, sustainability, skateboarding, and coffee.
- Worked with a small professional team to produce all whole bean coffee for the Southwest market, including retail, wholesale, and grocery channels. 
- Integrated art, science, and ERP Oracle software to roast coffee with a balanced, sweet and clean profile.  
- Able to speak to our craft, our supply chain transparency, Direct Trade model, global producer-partners and unique coffee offerings.

- As the senior team member, I trained new team members and incoming managers on processes/daily work flow for our coffee ordering life cycle. 
- Coordinated daily with Production and Roasting teams to ensure accurate order reports in our ERP software, Netsuite.
- Provided guidance on complex logistics to support immediate customer needs.
- Coordinated with Roasting and Training departments to organize educational coffee cuppings and trainings for the Wholesale Support team.  
- Enhanced knowledge of coffee processing and coffee tasting notes. AKA Drink coffee all the time and work with amazing people! 
Favorite thing: Discovering the wonderful impact our producer partners are having on the craft coffee industry and in their local communities.

- Managed a fundraising and campaign offices, responsible for overseeing and motivating a staff of 15 employees. Responsible for HR, Payroll, and Deliverables. 
- Organized the largest student-wide vote in the country to secure $1.7 million in funding.
- Coordinating local and national campaigns including New Voters Project, Clean Water Act Loopholes, and Don't Frack the Delaware River.

If I'm not at the skate park or the beach, I'm either sorting plastic waste, writing, or with my partner and cat listening to surf rock and watching sci-fi.
