He led high profile executive searches across the US and there Middle East.   He has recruited in 7 countries on four continents.  He is known for this thoroughness in evaluating the client's business profile and operational culture as well as for his in-depth screening interviews. 

His average CEO tenure is more than 7 years.  He was a pioneer in using video summaries of recommended candidates tp help clients make the right selection for their organization and was one of the first to routinely use three-year placement guarantee as a standard feature for all executive level searches.

Directed business development and client services operations for this international recruitment firm.  HealthFirst specialized in recruiting nurses and physical and occupational therapists for a group of select clients, primarily in the southwest United States..  The Firm's targeted markets included Canada, The Republic of the Philippines, Australia, and South Africa. Mr. Self traveled frequently to those recruiting screening candidates for placement in the U.S.

East Texas Emergency Medical Services

East Texas EMS is the largest private ambulance service provider in Texas.  During Mr. Self's tenure, East Texas EMS operated 50 ambulances in a 14-country area, responding to more than 45,000 911 and transfer calls per year.  During his tenure, East Texas EMS was selected Private Provider of the Year by the Texas Department of Health.  Mr. Self oversaw a major system restructuring and the development and construction of a state-of-the-art operations center.  He played a key role in selecting his successor who continues as the CEO of this now multi-state provider of EMS services.

Mr. Self directed the turnaround and repositioning of HealthFirst Management Services, a home infusion therapy business owned and operated by East Texas Medical Regional Healthcare System in Tyler.  Mr. Self refocused the business as a wholesale home infusion pharmacy and converted home care agencies who were former competitors in strategic partners for distribution.  Under his guidance, the HealthFirst revenues increased from $33,000 per month to more than $100,000 in revenue that included a correctional health contract.

Affiliated Hospital Systems

Mr. Self led business development of this healthcare services management firm that focused on rural and community hospital in Texas and Louisiana.  During his tenure, AHS, a division of Hermann Hospital, grew from three to 44 hospitals, 25 of whom AHS managed.  Mr. Self directed all account acquisition activities and led the due diligence component of the enterprise.
