Alaa Halawi

I am an Internal Medicine Consultant whose career travelled from Lebanon, Canada, USA, UAE and finally brought me back home to Oman. My experience as a clinician in leadership positions across various countries has given me a unique perspective in how different health care systems run. My skills as a teacher, manager and researcher as well as over a decade of clinical experience have primed me to develop a unique eye for systems issues that interfere with excellent patient care. It is this skill set along with my personal experience on the receiving end of healthcare systems that has fueled my passion for contributing to developing health care systems that are patient centered and also healthy ecosystems for the caregivers in those systems. This is the drive behind Al Sorat Consulting that I have co-founded with my sister Dr. Meda Al Rowas. 

 On a more personal note I am interested in all that contributes to well being. It is with this that I have expanded beyond the borders of allopathic medicine to  become a yoga teacher and a pranic healer because I found that a holistic approach to health is how wellbeing is fostered. I encourage mindfulness in approaching nutrition, exercise and setting personal health goals. 

In my community I am an advocate for women's issues and care deeply about addressing all kinds of societal inequalities. A core belief in the oneness of all human beings informs my personal values and shapes my professional ethics. I am always interested in collaborating with people whose values are aligned and to creatively help each other put more bricks on the bridge towards an environmentally friendly, societally just future.
