We built digital products to help insurance agents, brokers, wholesalers to automate customer acquisition, lead qualification tasks, and the quoting process. Some examples were interactive web apps that run prospects' fact-finding, qualify leads, pre-populate ACORD forms, and organize information in a super simple CRM. Insurance agents and brokers who used our tools saw a significant increase in time savings and could manage twice as many customers.

We were honored to win the support of:

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic introduced team and sales dynamics that made our quest difficult to drive forward.

Genade's story ended in December 2020. Many challenges in the world of insurance agents' productivity, lead management, and customer acquisition remain unsolved, and we failed to create a sustainable platform for running an insurance agency on autopilot.

Most people hyping the latest AI tool haven't built anything beyond a 30-minute demo.

Josh did the opposite. Product-focused CTO with 25 years of coding experience:

He went all-in, spending 3 months using AI to write every line of code for a new product (attention! Not a toy project.) as a real test of what happens when you actually commit.

The product shipped. It worked. He felt productive.

Then he needed to make a simple change and couldn't confidently modify his own code.

"Who owns that product, Josh? You or Claude Code?" Bob Galen asked him.

The answer: Claude Code owned it. Josh had become a passenger in his own product development.

This is the intellectual honesty the AI conversation needs. Not another breathless demo. Not another "look what I built in 10 minutes" post. An actual engineer doing the hard work of understanding what happens when delegation replaces comprehension.

1999: Puts his papers in to leave because, "It's not hard. It just sucks." 
1999: Stays because he recommits to being a Navy SEAL. 
2000: Graduates but gets sent to a ship instead of the SEAL Teams 😖 
2001: Pilots a $400M ship with 700 people aboard in places Americans have never been and the most heavily trafficked straits in the world. 🌊
2003: Goes through the toughest military training in the world. Becomes Class Leader during Hell Week after two senior officers quit. 🔱
2005: Protects the Vice President of Iraq. (Feivel becomes Spoonman.) 
2007: Commands numerous combat missions for a joint task force in Iraq. Is awarded the Bronze Star with Combat 'V.'

Men are suffering. 

6 things make men worse off: 


📌 Thoughts from a guy who has tons of positive female relationships (four sisters, fashion startups, etc.)

—yet has done super male things—Navy SEALs, Wall Street trader, startups, dad:


1️⃣  𝐌𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦  😖

The implication in many gender conversations—sometimes stated out loud—is “𝘐𝘧 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝙛𝙞𝙭 𝘮𝘦𝘯, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.” 


2️⃣  𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐈𝐒 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦  🚌

I’m not sure how we think boys and girls are going to grow up knowing how guys should act when 95% of their teachers are women (and sorry, not many alpha males for that remaining 5%). 

Some teachers can’t fathom why boys won’t just sit still like the girls—and react in ways that shame boys for natural behaviors.


3️⃣  𝐌𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲  🫡

Men act manly because (drum roll)... they’re dudes. 🤯 

I’ve been reading Bell Hooks’ book on masculinity, 'The Will to Change.' The premise is that guys become masculine just to impress other guys.

Hmm, are we doing some kind of performative circle…?  🙈


4️⃣  𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞  💔

Some people believe boys start out loving—but eventually learn loving is not okay. 

I picture Ivy League professors imagining what a group of dudes at a construction site talk about—then coming to conclusions based off of that. 

The alpha dudes I know are the most loving husbands, fathers, and friends you’ll find. 


5️⃣  𝐄𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🔨

Based on conversations with female friends, the desire for less masculine behavior is often situational—a means to an end. 

Like, “If Chad could just be less [male trait], then we can get what we want.” 

Women might prefer a pliable, ultrasensitive guy in the boardroom. But do they wanna date that guy? 

Do girls and boys want effeminate dads? I doubt it. 


6️⃣  𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦  🏢

There’s some truth that guys dominate positions like CEO and sales because women are discouraged and excluded from these positions. 

But also, most guys want to be in charge and left alone. So they disproportionately seek these kinds of jobs. 

They want a high-risk, high-reward challenge, where they can conquer new territory. 

That may seem prehistoric. But it’s how guys feel when they’re not obeying HR compliance manuals. 📖

In most job functions, companies want people to act in prototypically feminine ways. They want order, where everyone gets along. 

The best paying jobs in society are also… here.

We applaud masculine CEOs who are brash and dare greatly. 

Yet society has a way of punishing men and boys who act in these same ways in other contexts. I’m not blaming anyone.
