I worked closely with CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Billing Managers and Revenue Cycle Managers in a hybrid inside/outside sales environment.

Successes included receiving two promotions during my tenure at ZirMed from Sales Associate to Sales Development Executive. Then, from Sales Development Executive to Account Executive. In my roles, I exceeded expectations and quotas. In addition, I completed a Six Sigma project that earned me a Six Sigma Green Belt, saved our clients time and saved ZirMed money.

#Thanksgiving, for me, kicks off a season of gratitude and intense reflection.

It can be hard to turn the brain off as I reflect on the year. 

One of the most helpful concepts I've learned the last couple of years in reflection is the concept of 'allostasis vs. homeostasis'

It helps with turning off my brain or turning down the 'noise.'

Homeostasis is typically well known. 

It's the process whereby something goes from A -> B -> A. Said differently, you go from order, to chaos/stress and back to order (normal).

Functionally, this process is something that a lot of us aspire to. We want to get back to 'baseline', 'normal' or 'home.' 

The reality is that the most resilient individuals / beings embrace Allostasis.

Allostasis uses the chaos / stress to evolve. Not to go back to baseline, but to create a new baseline...a new normal. It takes something from A -> B -> C.

It's akin to breaking down the muscle only for it to grow back stronger.

What does this have to do with end of year reflections?

As you think about the highs, lows, risks, opportunities, etc. I've found it helpful to take a step back and ask myself:

"Where am I resisting change or growth?"

"What would it look like to step into the chaos with calmness and curiosity?"

Calmness because you don't have the final answer but because you know the next best step.

Curiosity because some of the best things in life are usually on the other side of growth / development.
