I feel scared, anxious, overwhelmed. 
Yet ... weirdly aligned.
Like I'm leaving my 9-5 all over again.

For the last 3 years, I've been doing a mix of:

1. Helping local businesses get customers
2. Ghostwriting / content creation
3. High-ticket sales

All that work has paid the bills.
And allowed us to work for ourselves full-time.

But it's become my comfort zone.
And moving away from it is scary AF.

I earned my client $243,419 from social content.
And I didn't show him that until now.

This is important for all ghostwriters, content creators, or really any service providers:

If you can't show clients the value you bring...
your service will be cut when things get tight.

Allow me to be your example.

I have a client who was questioning the value of continuing to put out content.

Because most posts don't go viral.
Some reels get 200 views.

(And, truth be told: 
Sales can't always be traced back to content.

For example: 

I recently closed a deal with someone who said:
"I've been watching these videos for 8 months."

But he ended up buying via Google search.
So it wasn't tracked as a "social sale.")

Now here's the important lesson:

If I don't show my clients how my service is making a difference ... I will eventually lose that client.

So what did I do?

I went back and tracked every deal we've closed.
Every dollar of cash collected.
And how much of each came from social content.

Guess what?
We've earned his business $243,419 in new deals.
$200,300 cash collected.

Directly from our social media efforts.

TLDR:

Visibility is valuable.
Impressions and followers are valuable.
Handling someone's content for them is valuable.

But if there's no plan for that visibility...
and you can't show them any real numbers...
don't be surprised when they "take a break" from it.

This was a lesson for me. I will never forget it.

Who's the most underrated founder you know?
The one with a story worth telling.
But isn't telling it themselves.

I'm looking for entrepreneurs to interview.

People who...

- have a real story to tell
- are on a mission to make change
- enjoy being interviewed about their work
- don't have time to film content themselves.

Who comes to mind?

Vague content gets vague attention.
And scripted DMs usually get muted.

There's nothing wrong with trying to land clients.
Nothing wrong with doing outreach.
Sending cold DMs.
Etc.

We do what we've gotta do to do business.

But for me?
Copy-and-pasted messages never do it.

If you're trying to connect with more clients...
Why not try 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 connecting?

Have something to say about what they do.
Make them feel worth your time.
Show a 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 interest.

Offer to help them before you ask for anything.

In my experience, that goes a lot further.

Your captions can be 1-2 sentences.
(I spent years overthinking them).

But they can really be this simple.

Answer these two questions:

1. What's the point of this post?
- the main takeaway

2. Why is this worth sharing?
- who does it help?
- why did it strike a chord for me?

The ultimate "hack" to never losing a client.
Show them something more than views.

Visibility is valuable.
More followers is valuable.
Increasing their reach is valuable.

But is it enough to make you irreplaceable?

In my experience, the best way to never lose a client is to show them how your work is turning into the result they really want.

So, get clear with your client:
What result do you really want?

What do you want the views / followers to turn into?

Then find a way to track that.

Honestly, I write these for myself most of the time. 

9 days out of 10, I think I might be delusional.

Like when I tell people I’m building a business around interviewing people who inspire me.

…and part of me wonders if I should’ve just said ‘marketing.’

That’s why we’re here.
That’s why you’re reading this.
And it’s why I’m writing it for us.

Because sometimes all you need on those hard days is to see that someone else felt that way too and, somehow, they just figured it out.

I ask everyone I interview, 

“What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other people who feel like inspired idiots?”

Your prospecting can become your content.
Then your content can do your prospecting.
Let me explain.

I've done A LOT of free interviews.
(Probably somewhere around 40-50).

And every single one of those interviews felt like a reach.

Like...this person might say no...
cause they might just be too cool for me.

But I'm finding a rhythm.

1) I make an effort to connect with the person.

- looking through their content
- finding what's inspiring
- reaching out.

2) I ask them thoughtful questions about their business.

If they're down, we record an interview.

3) That interview becomes business-growing content.

- They get clips that help reach their next client.
- I use some clips to do the same.

Creating content shouldn't "take time away" from your business.

It should speak to the people you're trying to reach.
While freeing up your time to focus on other things.

Advice I got from Darion Rae.
Focus on doing these 2 things:

1. Have genuine conversations.

- DM people who inspire you
- Make genuine connections
- Try to help people with their mission.

2. Put out content about what you're doing.

That's it.

And somehow, it's exactly what I needed to hear.

Here's what it taught me about my business.

When you’re inside your own head every day, your experience feels like the norm.

Your wins feel small. 
Your stories feel unimpressive.

But those wins and stories and experiences are what will make someone choose to work with you. 

That’s your positioning.

And sometimes all it takes is slowing down long enough to ask:

What do I actually do well?
Who do I help the most?
What have I already done that I’m underplaying?

And asking those “dumb” questions might do for you what Troy did for me in this interview: 
Reveal something huge about your offer.

So why would someone work with you?
This is why.

Because it's not just about your service.
It's about working with YOU.

They might relate to your story. 
They already feel they can trust you. 
They might even admire you in some way. 

People hire services, yes.
But they choose to work with people.

So if you're not sure what sets you apart...
