My aunt passed away today unexpectedly.

I was adopted. As you can imagine, I didn’t have the relationship with her I would have liked to have.

I told myself I was a “victim” to unfair circumstances. And I convinced myself I had all the time in the world to change that.

Here’s what I want to share with you today: 

Lesson 1: You have more power then you think. I had the power to create a relationship with her. I could have fought through the awkwardness of reconnecting.

But instead I acted like I had no control. Like the circumstances made it impossible. Poor me. 

That was the lie I told myself.

Lesson 2: We don’t have as much time as we think. For most of my life, I operated under this belief that there would always be more time.

More time to call.
More time to visit.
More time to ask the questions I kept putting off.
