•	Voice of customer research indicated that 91% of physicians surveyed see a market need.  
•	Customer interviewing indicated that 81% of end users would purchase a uAir Mini inhaler. 

Responsibilities
•	Analyze global inhaler market and maintain a financial model of the business opportunity.
•	Lead voice of customer interviewing which defined product requirements for engineering. 
•	Coordinate cross functional team of engineers and vendors to manufacture product prototype. 
•	Forecast business financials and discounted cash flow analysis for exit scenario planning. 
•	Develop product roadmap for market research, initial manufacturing, and FDA approval.

I’m tryna see something…

My 3rd Half Marathon is in the books, and with that I’m one step closer to the Chicago Marathon in 7 months.

I was planning to run it last year but had to cancel due to setback from an injury. 

But this year I’m back and stronger than ever.

My running journey is one I’m very proud of. 

In May 2024, I came across two posts online that were catalysts to what I can only describe as a midlife crisis. 

The first was a video of a dad racing his teenage son. 

The caption read: “Every year he races his son on his birthday. His son still can’t beat him.” 

The dad, probably in his early 50s, was fully geared up. His teenage son, around 15, had the lean build of a runner and clearly wanted this year to be his year that he finally beat his dad in a foot race.

But when the race started, the dad gave it everything he had and left his son in the dust. 

The second post was a simple tweet: “At some point in your life, you sprint for the very last time, not knowing it’s your last time sprinting.” 

I sat there, trying to remember the last time I had sprinted all-out. I couldn’t. It had been years. 

That same month, my second son was born. 

And in that mix of sleepless nights and newborn wonder, an uneasy feeling crept in: I was letting myself slip, physically, mentally, spiritually. 

My kids would grow up seeing that version of me, a man slowly swallowed by a sedentary life behind a screen. 

Then, only weeks later, my dad had a heart attack. It was his third in 15 years. 

Every unexpected call from my mom feels like a gut punch. Every time, I brace myself for the worst. Thankfull he is okay now. 

Those two posts, the birth of my son, and my dad’s health scare became the four cornerstones of a total transformation. 

I overhauled my sleep habits. I cleaned up my diet and cut out alcohol completely. I started running religiously. I got a new doctor and did a full blood panel to understand my genetic risks. 

That summer and in the months since, I've dived headfirst into a series of changes, big and small, that will echo through my life for decades to come. I lost 50 pounds. I stopped drinking alcohol. I've run hundreds of miles and lots of races.

2024 completely changed my life, and now two years later I have my heart set on the Chicago Marathon. 

Here's to an incredible year, intensive training block, and a long 26.22 mile race!

We got a new paid subscriber this morning to one of our local media company's newsletters and I wanted to check to see where they came from and what their historical engagement data looked like and...

Wow.

They've opened and engaged with almost every single email we've ever sent them.

I'm not crying you're crying.

Me sending cold emails from a bunch of different domains.

I got new glasses. I had literally no idea I’d been using LinkedIn this entire time. I thought this was Twitter. Now I’m wondering what else I missed.

Had a call this week where someone told me they met with one of our competitors and were told "honestly you should probably just go to beehiiv, not gonna lie"

Do I:

1. Pay the competitor a commission
2. Send a thank you note to the competitor
3. Hire the competitor to do stealth outbound sales for beehiiv

New cold outbound strategy: ask people who never responded if they've given up on participating.

I was recently advising an early startup on their sales strategy, and what I’ve found kills more startups than anything is optimization paralysis.

If you obsess on optimization, playbooks, and airtight processes at the very beginning, you won’t survive long enough for those strategies to even matter.

What you need at the very beginning is obsession and relentless pursuit of dollars, and you need to be bent on turning nothing into something.

Don’t overenginner sales at the beginning. Find someone who will pay you for your product or service, then take their money.

It really does not matter what you’re going to do to scale to $1B if you haven’t figured out how to make $1,000 over and over and over again.

Do what doesn’t scale first then focus on scale later.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but put down your phone.
