Also, one day I received feedback from a cheeky person to say in my profile that I live part-time in the UK so that I am more genuine. So here it is! :)

~4 months to validate a client's low, mid, and high ticket business model. Their services range from ~$50 to ~$3k/month. Here is how to think about it: 

I like posting about earlier-stage clients because it is really just an insane vibe, helping these founders build a scalable business model. More personal. More fun. 

First: 

Decide what kind of business you want to create. If you are massively influenced, motivated, and empowered by large group coaching - do it. That isn't for everyone. 

This clients priorities were:
- A large predictable newsletter base (to build brand equity and value)
- A scalable low-ticket offer that helps weed out freebie buyers and also subsidizes paid ad spend
- A scalable mid-ticket offer that provides immense value and is easy to upgrade to from low-ticket 
- A high-ticket offer for the fun projects he enjoys, working with a few key clients per month 

Second: Who buys what?

Well. You needed to have decided your ICP and Positioning first to get all of these inputs to validate at least the direction. So here, we have directional validation. Then you refine. For example: Ensure you know what offer you are serving to who. 

If your offers are built for fundamentally different ICP's, you're doing it wrong. They should be split up by either A) maturity level or B) trust building. 

In this case, it's mostly for maturity. His ICP is either very early stage founders who do not have a high-ticket budget but desperate need (like high-ticket). On the other end there are established founders years in with teams scaling global brands who need their services (same problem as low ticket.) For those who do not fit high-ticket (90% of your market) you give them a low-risk way to see value (~$25-100) and then a no-brainer mid-ticket to help them take that project over the line ($500-1,000 for a 4-hour workshop, for example.) 

Third: Predicability 

The low and mid-ticket should be entirely supported by a mostly hands-off funnel powered by ads and a strong downstream motion with email marketing. In this case, we have a powerful 3.5% CTR/15% Purchase rate on the low-ticket page and a $2-5/subscriber newsletter campaign to fill the newsletter with future ICP buyers. 

This isn't the cheapest route to go because it involves paying, and for owners who have a very small audience, but it helps you crack your model in <6 months instead of what takes some people... years.

Founders who try to get out of their business too early, tend to fail. Founders who stay involved and lead (employees or even outsourced teams), win. 

It’s a trend I’ve seen in OutDo but also in general. Previously in software it was the same. 

You’d see founders check-out after Series A or B after hiring “key executives” but realized later on that at the end of the day it’s still their business - their mission. 

The founders who decided to manage themselves out or delegate too much and put all that responsibility on their teams or hired vendors simply lost touch and then blame their team. When in reality… that was your one main job as a founder. 

It’s a fine line, delegation vs managed out.

Would you pay ~$125/meeting to speak to your ideal client who's in the consideration or buying stage? It's possible. Here is a quick walkthrough: 

It is what the right targeting, value prop, and budget can produce for high-ticket sales. 

Don't get me wrong. Great content will forever and always be the long-term insurance for building a powerful coaching, advisory, consulting, or even software brand. (Software is doing this every day with founders and execs leaning more into content.)

This is a live campaign I wrote about a few months ago. When we started testing LinkedIn ads for coaching and consulting, founders were looking to have predictability in the pipeline for their high-ticket 1:1 and b2b deals.

We started testing, and the results have stayed fairly consistent with the key learnings being:
- Hook, Trust, and Value: If you have an undeniable hook, explain the value of your knowledge and build trust with messaging that proves your skillset - you will get opportunities. Often clients struggle with knowing their own value, sometimes we can help with that, but sometimes they're disconnected to the reality of the true impact of their offering, and that can make this part very hard and "noisy" - thus - low outcomes. 

- Audience: Start broad enough, we sometimes go >100k in an audience size to learn, especially in the early days, and eventually get this down below 50k. And well, at the end of the day, LinkedIn allows you to go 5x further down targeting than Meta. Company size, geography, role, etc. Unlike Meta. 

- Budget: It isn't for the shy. You need to be willing to spend $100+ per day to truly see valuable results and be ready to risk waiting for $2-3k in spend to start seeing a measurable outcome. 

If you have those, you will surely have a high chance of repeatable $100-200 meetings, and with a win rate of 33% and an ACV of $5k+, it makes it tempting not to try.

Simple Business

From law school → $10M startup → full time Dad & $1M freedom business that gave me my life back

After law school, I joined a startup in sports marketing as employee #3.
Helped scale it from $400K to $10M (can't take too much credit - we had awesome founders)

Then COVID hit. Revenue disappeared overnight.
I had to lay off my entire team.

The same week, my first son was born.

That fateful week in 2020 shattered my illusion of security.

I knew I had to build something of my own, something my family could count on.

So I started posting online.
Not to monetize at first.. just to document what I wanted my son to know one day.
To my shock, my audience grew fast. Hundreds of thousands of followers on X and IG.

But I had no clue how to turn attention into income.

I worked nights, weekends, holidays.
16 months straight. 2 kids under 2 at the time.
I launched project after project, none of it stuck.

Then, almost by accident, I started offering fitness coaching (yes from an anonymous X account ... don't let the haters say it can't be done lol)

Suddenly, the leads came in fast.

And everything clicked.

Before, I'd had the wrong offers.
The wrong pricing.
The wrong focus.

Within 30 days, I had my first $20K month.
Five months later, I hit my goals and quit my job.

By September 2022, I was fully free.

But freedom isn’t just about quitting, it’s about stability.

And that took longer.

In 2024, I scrapped every half-baked idea and focused on what people kept asking me for:

“Can you help me build a business like yours?”

That became the CTS Incubator:

I have a new favorite metric of success.

It’s not a salary or revenue number.

It’s not your net worth.

And it’s definitely not a job title…

It’s if you can always drop off and pick up your kids from school.

It sounds simple…

And it’s not about the act itself of being able to drop them off and pick them up.

It’s about what it represents.

It represents that you’re always there the whole morning for your kids before they have to be at school.

It represents that as soon as they’ve finished school, you’re there for them for the rest of the day too.

You’re as present in their lives as possible.

You get to spend all the time you can with them and they get to spend all the time they want to with you.

There’s no more being away on work trips for days or weeks at a time.

There’s no more getting home just an hour before their bed time.

There’s no more missing their game after school because you’re stuck in the office and you can’t leave.

I remember my final straw before deciding I needed to start my own business to have control over my time was when I missed my son’s first steps.

I was away on a work trip and I had to watch it over FaceTime.

Some people would say “At least you saw it over FaceTime” or that these kinds of things are normal and they just can’t be avoided…

But I felt like a bad Dad in that moment and I wanted to do better.

“Normal” - even “successful” - is working 60+ hours a week and having a 6-figure salary but then not having much time for your kids.

This is no matter how well you do your job.

In fact, the better you do your job, the more you get promoted, the more hours you have to work, and the more you have to travel and be apart from your family.

That’s not the life I wanted to have.

So I worked 4+ hours a day, everyday, for 16 months and then I eventually managed to replace my income with my own business and quit my job.

It took a ton of trial and error, failure and times where I doubted what I was doing…

But I made it in the end.

Now I help other Dads like me start their own business to have freedom over their schedule too.

The business is doing what you already do for your current company… for more companies.

B2B consulting or fractional advisory for multiple clients.

Like our client Sean who we helped secure $20K/month in fractional engagements and can now drop off and pick up his son from school everyday.

With B2B consulting or fractional advisory businesses, you still get autonomy like a business but because it’s based on what you’ve done your whole career, it actually works.
