Is it the soft OR hard skills 
that are derailing your interview?

My take…

both.

Both are important, but they need to be showcased in a way that conveys value.

Otherwise, they'll fall flat.

An easy way to show how you’ve used BOTH soft or hard skills to achieve results is this:

(Result + Metric) by (Method), (Stakes/Relevance) 

An example is:

Reduced turnover by 85% by mentoring internal sales talent in weekly 30-minute sessions, despite the launch of competing drug in the region.

...and that is JUST a "director, medical sales" search

We've not even considered searching:

Medtech > Manager
Medical Sales > Hiring
Pharmaceutical Sales > Hiring
Distributor Representative > Hiring
Biotech > Regional Manager > Hiring
and so on...

In short, there are LOTS of levers to pull.

And you know me -- I love a *system*

So when it comes to networking, I like to use our 5-5-5 approach. 

TRY THIS:

>> 5 people you KNOW 
>> and 5 people you WANT TO KNOW
(hello Linkedin Searches and 2nd connections)

This helps to revive your old connections, nurture your current ones, and stay engaged with new people who are active in the arena where you want to be seen.

SANITY SAVER:

Network with these 5-5-5 every work day
and once you've done it, check it off your list.

Don't spend your entire day scrolling and networking 
and you'll avoid burnout that can happen 
with a robust (but overloaded) 
networking strategy.
