From lawyer to speaker: building your platform in 2026

I got this unexpected feedback on one of my presentation-skills CLEs:

My first thought: oh really?

I used to be a regulatory lawyer. I wasn’t in the courtroom, never filed a motion.

And now, as a trainer, I help lawyers with everyday business presentations, not trial strategy.

So reviews like these always surprise me a little.

But I'm owning them because they keep me grounded in what I'm actually teaching. 

I don’t just teach lawyers to make better slides, connect with a roomful of prospects, or cultivate gravitas.

I help them craft and tell the right story for each audience.

That's the backbone of what I teach: storytelling.

Even if you don't do many conference presentations, webinars, or trainings, a strong storytelling habit spills over into every kind of persuasive communication.
