Senior Manager, Business Development

Sold integrated space, ground, and terminal systems in the satellite communications (SATCOM) market. International capture manager formally certified for pursuits up to $100M; in practice, captures approached $1B in value. Responsible for customer qualification, competitive assessment, and developing and executing product and pursuit strategies. 
• Enabled the $339.6M contract option award for the final Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite by executing the “keep sold and extend” strategy for this ultrahigh frequency (UHF) SATCOM program. 
• Engaged with airborne and vehicular terminal providers, in order to facilitate Warfighter demand generation, functional testing, Army Forces Strategic Command (ARSTRAT) certification, etc.  
• Performed additional work in a secure environment, holding a TS/SCI security clearance with CI Poly.

Capture Manager - Senior Staff, Business Development

United States Marine Corps

Engineer Officer and Space Operations Staff Officer - LtCol, USMCR (Ret.)

Served as a Marine lieutenant colonel in a reserve (part-time) status. Supervised the current operations center at the Global SATCOM Support Center (GSSC). Formally designated a Space Operations Staff Officer – one of the Marine Corps’ very few Space Cadre. Employed comprehensive knowledge of SATCOM across the electromagnetic spectrum. Received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Space Operations Staff Officer

Again recalled to active duty. Managed a dozen engineers and 56 humanitarian assistance projects – building and renovating schools and health clinics, drilling water wells, etc., in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Yemen. Received the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Joint Task Force Engineer

Recalled to active duty after 9/11 and forward deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom. Provided engineering guidance to senior leaders for bases in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Force Engineer Officer

Marine Corps engineer officers lead multidisciplinary workforces of Marines, civil servants, and contractors whose duties include construction and repair of structures and airfields; operations and maintenance of heavy equipment; and use of explosives for demolition projects. Led organizations ranging in size from 20 to 400 Marines and civil servants. Constructed five buildings for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Managed heavy equipment inventories valued in excess of $4M. Briefly deployed to Somalia in support of Operation Restore Hope.

Previously, John served as the President of QTEC Solutions, Inc., leading the organization through the acquisition by Source Intelligence and subsequent yearlong transition as they integrated into their new parent company.

Originally joining QTEC Solutions as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, John owned responsibility for worldwide sales of QTEC Solutions data and software as a service (SaaS) solutions. Prior to that, John held business development roles of increasing responsibility, most notably for Lockheed Martin engaging on the U.S. Navy's Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) next generation ultra high frequency (UHF) satellite communications (SATCOM) program.

Retired from the U.S. Marines, John deployed worldwide and led engineering projects as an Engineer Officer, and supported the U.S. Strategic Command as a Space Operations Staff Officer – one of the U.S. Marine Corps' very few "space cadre." John is a veteran of Operation Restore Hope and Operation Enduring Freedom, and counts the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal among his awards and decorations.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Texas A&M University, a Master of Arts degree in business from Webster University, and a Master of Science Business Administration degree in production and operations management from San Diego State University.
