Community builder for librarians. First to fill the role of Events & Special Projects Manager for statewide membership collaborative serving ~1,000 Connecticut libraries. 

Known for my personal brand of magic - creating spaces where members felt safe to learn and grow, turning nebulous ideas into concrete programs and services, and planning and executing events so fun they didn't feel like work - I helped members of our community feel seen, heard, and valued, and provided opportunities for them to build skills to better serve their communities. 

Known for being an innovative thinker who imagines creative solutions to problems, often anticipating needs before they arose, I instigated moving our Roundtable program virtual in early 2020, teaching members to use Zoom and modeled how to run an effective meeting. (Librarians went on to use what they learned here to put on programs for their own communities.)

I partnered with the Connecticut Storytelling Center to launch a storytelling training workshop series for librarians. I conceptualized and executed three different vendor expo models, all of which were wildly successful. And I established a new Program Directory to connect libraries with performers and workshop providers. 

I led the national Take Your Child to the Library Day initiative, serving as project manager, growing the program in visibility through projects such as the creation of both community-centric and librarian-centric websites, speaking at the Public Library Association Conference in April 2024, and publishing an article in Public Libraries Magazine in Summer 2024. I partnered with EveryLibrary to create Advocacy Training webinar series to build capacity among children's librarians, and established State Ambassador program to build support and visibility nationwide. I partnered with Demco to create a line of promotional products for TYCLD 2025.

I was selected as the first certified library media specialist at this therapeutic day school for special education students ages 4-21.  

Tasked with creating our library media program, I transformed a humble bookroom into a vibrant library ecosystem welcoming and accessible to students of all ages and our teachers and support staff. 

I implemented a new library automation software system, replacing the traditional card catalog, revamped our entire collection of materials, assessing gaps for each section and curating age-appropriate resources, and established new collections of both print and digital resources. 

As the designer of library, information and research, and technology skills curricula that I delivered to students, I was part of our teaching team, delivering instruction to students, facilitating professional development for teachers and support staff, and collaborated with teachers on technology integration and co-teaching classes. 

I created safe and welcoming spaces for all of our students, differentiating instruction, employing de-escalation strategies as needed, and building strong relationships with our learners and instructors. 

I had the joy of surprising and delighting students and staff by instituting school literacy events including annual Read Across America celebrations, coordinated external speakers, and introduced graphic novel collection (our most popular and widely circulated school collection).

As part of our children's services team, I had the amazing privilege of supporting children and families who came to the library.

While on desk, I assisted children and families with navigation of library materials, equipment and resources; provided readers’ advisory services, connecting readers with engaging materials.

I executed original programming for children including reader’s theater workshops, family thank you letter writing, and thematic creative programs connected to the Amazing Castle™ installation. 

I partnered with Teen Librarian on Book Buddies program pairing elementary school students with middle and high school students to foster reading skills.

And I brought my skills from my experience at Northwest Village School to tactfully manage challenging patrons (i.e. high energy and or poor in-library behavior) resulting in reduction of risk behaviors in the library.

How to protect your connections - just in case.

My start to 2026 was a total ban from LinkedIn for nine days.
For ‘repeatedly sharing unsolicited and/or spam content. ’ 🤔

Hay, it’s not the first time mega organisations have been threatened by my almighty powers.
(actually it is).

But we all know this could happen to any one of us 
any day 
on any platform.
It’s borrowed land.

So here we are - a reminder to not put all the proverbial eggs in one basket.

And to downloaded your LinkedIn data as a back up.

Here’s how:
Go to LinkedIn settings → Download your data.

You can download:

• your connections
• account history
• verifications and contacts

That way you don’t lose contacts its taken years to nurture.

even when you’re not actively showing up.

This is why your profile has to hold its weight.
This is why relationships here compound.
This is why visibility isn’t just “posting more.”

That happened to me recently, but with something more surprising than keys.

We were at the beach.

Sun beds. Old friends. A few hours with nowhere to be.

Soaking up the entertaining landscape that is, ‘beach’.

Chaos surrounded us.

But it was calm on our little sunbed island.

And somewhere between the two, it hit me:

The sense of community I’ve been searching for?

It wasn’t missing.

It was sitting right beside me.

My daughter.

Her childhood friends.

Young women I admire, adore, and feel deeply grateful for.

I’d been looking *out there* for something that had quietly grown *right here*.

I see the same thing when I work with consultants on LinkedIn.

They think growth means more people they don’t know.

But we don’t start there.

We start with the people they already trust.

The ones who know their work.

The ones who’d vouch for them without being asked.

Strong connections first.

Relatability and trust next.

That way the network grows more easily.

By building from what’s already there.

Funny how often the thing we’re chasing isn’t missing at all.

Have you ever been searching for something, only to realise it was with you all along?

Growth doesn’t start with strangers.
It starts with trust.

Are you sick of seeing this on Chat GPT?
‘You’re not [something negative], you’re just [something positive].

(Or is that just me?)

It will imply that me or the reader I’m writing to is,

‘not [something negative] 

and go on to suggest that they are [something positive].

And my gripe is this;

Why mentions something negative at all?

I was diving into zone 2 exercise this morning (I have a zone 2 block).

And I received this reply;

’This is a really good instinct to question it — and you’re not crazy.’

At no point did I ever think I might be crazy.

And no it’s not referring to something I hinted at earlier.

Why oh why is this AI tool programmed to repetitively ‘convince me that i’m not [something negative]? 

Why invite potential doubt?

A few months ago, a director told me:

I thought i was giving away value people wanted.
I was wrong.

Last week I was talking tactics with a business consultant.

What I’ve been working on.
What’s moving.
What’s stalled.

Of course, LinkedIn came up.

I casually pulled up the tracker I use for my connections and said, almost without thinking:

“I don’t actually use the LinkedIn feed.”

She went quiet.

Then did a proper double take.

“Wait… then how do you stay engaged with people?”

So I showed her.

How I keep track of conversations.
How I know who to follow up with.
How I stay visible without scrolling the feed for hours.

And that’s when it hit me.
*I’d been giving away the wrong freebies.*

Why?

Because there was something much simpler people needed.

Which to me felt obvious.

But to someone else?
