I'm Amar, CEO at My Money Matters, where our goal is simple: helping employees to make the most of their money with financial education, tools, coaching and easy to use digital services.

Early on, I was more entrepreneur than economist, with ventures ranging from selling stick insects as a child to diving deep into the world of startups.

This path led me to a revelation: financial education is the key to unlocking personal and professional freedom.

Durisol is a global brand and trademark known for innovative woodcrete ICF blocks for construction and acoustic sound barriers for highways and rail applications. The UK business is a standalone company.

Crafted a five-year full business plan to make Durisol UK a profitable entity.      

A full overhaul of manufacturing and sales including a quality plan review, cost control, pricing and training.

Full operational business responsibility, answerable to overseas investors and non operational directors/owners.  

This was a fully autonomous and entrepreneurial role to take a business with a good product but numerous shortcomings and make it successful and profitable.     

Managing manufacturing and sales. As an SME business the role was a single point of contact for finance, technical, recruitment, corporate governance, funding, health and safety etc.

Forterra PLC

Forterra is a FTSE listed leading UK supplier of Heavy Building Materials for the Construction Industry, including Bricks, Paving, Precast Concrete, & Flue Systems with a turnover of circa £400 Million.

Effected a commercial relaunch to drive revenues and margins and support a 20% EBIT figure.
    
Implemented cost controls and discipline across the P+L to ensure revenues translated into bottom line profit.

Drove the P+L for the Formpave business across all functions, reporting directly to the Group CEO, following acquisition by a private equity firm and subsequent flotation. 

Stabilised the workforce, recruited for key positions, identified manufacturing efficiencies and maximised both revenues and margins to deliver strong EBIT.  
 
Managed broad teams across manufacturing and sales as well as leading cross functional teams at a group level, to include Finance, HR, Procurement and Marketing.

Managing Director - Formpave Ltd

Geofabrics Australasia Pty Ltd

Geofabrics is the leading manufacturer and distributor of technical geosynthetic products in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, with a turnover of $150 Million.

Implemented an innovative new “Group Training Program” and “Technical Hub”, significantly improving quality and availability of materials to drive measurable improvements in sales effectiveness. 

Developed effective strategic initiatives to consistently drive growth, revenue and profitability in line with demanding targets and objectives within both construction and civil engineering markets.

Built strong partnerships with stakeholders across the company, including executive management, engineers and specialists to ensure cross-departmental consistency and collaboration.

Delivered robust project planning, oversight and implementation, reviewing and analysing all financial and operational reporting against milestones and metrics to quickly identify and resolve any issues as they arose.

Managed diverse project teams incorporating resource allocation as well as performance review and development.

Maintained a continual awareness of industry trends, business developments and best practice to assess and capitalise on new opportunities, including the development of new products.

Established effective relationships with existing and potential senior level clients to assess needs and tailor appropriate, competitive solutions.

Prepared and analysed accurate and timely reporting to inform ongoing planning and decision making

By combining technical and operational expertise as a qualified engineer and business manager I’ve driven successful strategy, growth and revenue increase, with P+L responsibility in excess of $100 Million working in the UK and Australasia.
