most sales reps kill deals with their follow-ups (here’s how to fix it)

so i’ve been in sales for a while, and the one thing that still blows my mind? how many reps completely tank their chances with shitty follow-ups. not because they’re spamming people, because they’re sending nothing.

"just checking in"
"wanted to circle back"
"following up on my last email"

like, checking in on what? you never gave them anything to actually respond to. prospects aren’t mind readers. if you don’t say something useful, they’re gonna ignore you.

so what actually works? here’s what i’ve seen:

instead of "just following up," try:

"i recorded a 2-min video showing how [similar company] cut their onboarding time by 40%. thought of you because you mentioned this was a bottleneck last time we talked."

instead of "wanted to circle back," try:

"saw this article about [industry trend] and immediately thought of our convo. the part about [specific insight] lines up with what you said about [their challenge]."

instead of "any updates?" try:
"quick question, are you still focused on [goal they mentioned], or have priorities shifted? context changed, so i don’t want to waste your time."

the pattern here is simple:

• give value first
• show you actually listened
• make it about them, not your quota
• make it easy to respond (ask a specific question)

i built a tool that does this automatically. it pulls call recordings, videos, and docs into one link so you’re not just sending another empty "checking in" email. not because reps are lazy, because prospects are busy, and they don’t have time to guess what you want.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but:

I'm about to say something unpopular.

But by someone desperately needs to...

Don't start a business if you're not willing to:

• Work weekends while others binge Netflix
• Work for free in the beginning (often for 6+ months)

10 clients at $10,000 = $100K
100 clients at $1,000 = $100K
1,000 clients at $100 = $100K

Guess which one is easier to manage?
Guess which one has higher profit margins?
Guess which one doesn't require a massive audience?

The ascending price model is your secret weapon:

Every "yes" at your new price builds confidence
Every client success raises your market value
Every testimonial justifies higher rates

Start at $500.
Move to $625.
Then $780.
Then $975.

By client #50, you're charging $1,500+ for the same service you started at $500.

(and mind you -  25% is just a suggestion - you can always go higher the more comfortable and systematized you get)

Same expertise. 
Same deliverable. 

Different positioning.

Because here's the thing about pricing:

It's not about what you think you're worth.

It's about what the market will pay for transformation.

(And then again...)

And the market will pay more as you prove your value.

Most creators are one decision away from six figures.

Most solopreneurs aren't doing real business.

Real business comes down to two skills:

My nephew asked me what I do for work yesterday.

I said: 

"I help people talk to money."

He looked confused...

A good offer is about what’s in it for the client.

"What's my niche?"

Ask 

"Whose problem am I uniquely positioned to solve?"

The market doesn’t care about how unique or clever your idea is.

• Is it better than what I have now?
• Can I trust that it will work for me?

If you have something new, your first job isn’t to protect it. 

It’s to test it.

The Real Business Killer: Inaction

The best businesses aren’t the most original. 

They are the ones that:

• Take existing ideas and improve them.
• Focus on execution rather than perfection.
• Test, iterate, and refine until they get it right.

The biggest risk isn’t someone copying your idea. 

It’s you never acting on it.

Picture this scenario:

Two coaches launch the exact same program. 

• Same offer
• Same price point
• Same audience size

Coach A makes $3,000
Coach B makes $15,000

The difference isn't their expertise
It's not their audience 

It's frame control

Coach A: The Commodity Approach

Sends an email: 

"Hey everyone, I'm opening enrollment for my coaching program next Tuesday. Here are the details, here are the benefits, here's the price."

Tuesday comes. Doors open. Then they wait.

The response is crickets.

 By Thursday, panic sets in. 

They send another email with the same details.

Takes a completely different path.

Stop launching like you're applying for permission.
