On an average day, I shift back and forth between all these roles. 

I run The Wise Idiot, a content marketing agency with a bunch of crazy creative people who work across mediums, formats, and industries to create, at scale, the quality content they'd want to see in the world. 

In 7 years, I’ve led and scaled content production for 500+ brands and individuals through a 10-20x increase in brand impressions, 200% more keywords ranking organically, and almost 300% more website traffic in the short term. 

Numbers stop making sense after a point, though. Here’s exactly how I helped in my clients’ zero-to-one and one-to-hundred journeys- 

• Consulted Indian BFSI/SaaS startups and businesses, from finding a positional industry niche to determining the primary channels for the sales funnel.
• Developed organic demand generation strategies, unique “glocal” storytelling for B2B organizations, and strong founders’ profiles for building visibility and trust. 
• Created pitch decks and brand presentations for companies to raise over INR 40 million.
• Train in-house teams to develop scaleable content architecture and respond swiftly to evolving user needs (scale my team to 15+ employees and 100+ freelancers).

Practically my entire professional career exists because of him.

It started with a simple plan: write to earn money. I joined only because he made one very specific promise - that he could pay me enough to cover my rent in Mumbai.

"The Wise Idiot" started as his pen name. Today, it’s our brand identity! 

But honestly! 
It is tough to be him..
(I told him the same thing 15 minutes ago while wishing him.)

He is usually the smartest person in the room. He observes everything - from pixel-perfect alignments to the lighting coming from the the room. 

When you perceive that much detail, filtering the noise is difficult, but he does it effortlessly.

He is the writer I’ve read the most, and never found boring. He has ghostwritten scholarship essays that secured 100% funding for students abroad, and even CFA exam fee waivers.

He is a designer who has created countless presentations, pitch decks, and investor decks that raised millions. A lot of our viral topical posts - the ones that built our identity - started with his minimal design sense.

He is also the person I argue with the most, about everything, including Jainism. We believe in the same things, but our perspectives are wildly different on absolutely everything.

From tomorrow, it’s a kid-in-a-candy-store moment for me.

I’ll be at a Payments Retreat by Travel & Payments, with people who don’t just work in payments - they obsess over it (Card declines, chargebacks, FX… they speak about them as opportunities, not problems.)

Never imagined I’d be heading to Bangkok as an organiser but here we are. Truly excited for what’s ahead.

None of this would have been possible without the bold ideas of Vishal and Chee, and more importantly, the incredible community they’ve built so organically and with such intent.

The next three days are going to be awesome. 

Special mention to all T&P Folks who have done incredible work so far on managing the event preparation, Anupreet Kaur, 🧑‍💻Aniket Jadhav, Althea, Sreejita and everyone else, take a bow!

Working 55 to 60 hours a week feels obvious these days. 

In fact, if I don't work that much, I feel a little empty.

Mostly, I am fine with it. But sometimes, out of nowhere, I feel anxious or a little sad.

Maybe because even after working almost all the time, the work is still pending.

Maybe a client is not fully satisfied.

Or maybe the team has missed something they were supposed to do.

All very normal things.

But in those moments, you forget everything you have learnt and taught yourself, and you feel disappointed.

Especially when you are already giving so much of yourself every day.

Last week, I had one of those moments, but I also realized something. 

In the early days of The Wise Idiot , all I ever wanted was clients, more work, and the chance to solve bigger problems. 

I kept telling myself that when it happens, we will figure it out.

Well, now it is happening.
And I cannot complain.

There is no world where I do not want this, even when it feels heavy. These are the same things younger me once prayed for.

There have been many times when I have read a book or watched a movie in which the main character faces life-changing challenges. These moments are fundamental to the kind of person they become. You look at that, and you secretly want to be the hero of a similar story. 

Sometimes when you are low, you may forget this.

But when you get your energy back, remember: these challenges are what help you grow into the person you want to be.

With good books, good people, and your own self-awareness, the switch can turn back on quickly. That is all you need.

No matter what, you know what you aimed for. Once you get it, you cannot complain about the struggles that come with it, just because you now want something bigger.

I wrote this mainly for myself, to share the small win I had over my own mind. 

Figured this could also help someone out there, wondering why this is happening to them.

It is a very fair ask to want a non-toxic boss/manager 

Only if you also notice the toxic employees around you.

I am an entrepreneur, but I have people around me who work in different setups. They have jobs that are remote, hybrid or in office. And they all have their own jokes, shortcuts and ways of playing the system.

- They hate being micromanaged, but will watch a full Bigg Boss (or whatever else) episode while taking a meeting.

- They hate when the boss asks them to switch on the camera, but will work from bed all day.

- They hate when the boss asks why a tiny edit took seventeen minutes, but will take a seventeen minute break not-so-important-call that they would never have taken in an office.

These are remote examples.

In the office, there are people who arrive thirty to fifty minutes late, take time to settle in, start scrolling to order food within an hour, then take another hour to eat while watching a show, then go for a tea break or a stroll. And the moment the clock hits logout time, they are gone.

A boss/manager sees all of this. First they ignore it, then they think of different ways to fix it, and eventually they burst. Once they reach that point and realise this is the only way that works, they default to that behaviour the next time.

Every toxic manager has a backstory. It becomes difficult for them to get out of that pattern. 

They are usually pushed into it. There is no good reason to be toxic and I am not promoting it. 

I am simply observing how empathy erodes over time and how those who continue to show it often do so at the cost of their health.

How important is it to carry your laptop when you’re going for anything work-related?

Sounds like a stupid, rhetorical question, right?

But the number of real stories I’ve collected around this is insane.

New joiners at The Wise Idiot: Many show up on Day 1 without their laptops. When asked, they say, “No one told us to bring it.”

My HR says it’s obvious. Now we literally write BYOL in bold… and I still don’t fully trust that it will work.

Mitt Arv offsite had a similar story: A techie flew 2,000 km for an offsite, ready for fun - only to realise certain activities needed a laptop.
His real shock wasn’t the activity. It was that he was sent back… permanently.

Many interns and freshers show up for shoots, events, and client meetings without laptops. “It’s heavy,” “I wasn’t told,” and “Can I finish from home?” are common lines.

The ‘my laptop can’t handle it’ problem:

Slow machines, missing software, borrowed devices… the list goes on. But if you’re entering a digital, creative, or tech-first workplace, carrying your laptop isn’t optional. It’s basic professionalism.

Now that I am somewhere between mid and senior management, these stories make me laugh… and also worry.

Because if I had done this in my early years, I would’ve been kicked out on Day 1.
