Working with entrepreneurial students and particularly ones working on AI is my absolute passion. And so with that I am super honored to be able to be a judge for the Presidential AI Challenge. Students will first compete on a state level and winners from each state will then go on to a regional competition and then to a final competition held in DC. 

There is still a need for additional judges so if you work in the field of AI and have a passion for working with kids shoot me a DM.

This was the first thing I thought of when I was asked to author a chapter in this upcoming book on mentorship. I also freaked out a little bit because writing is definitely not my thing. 

But here we are, the book is going to be published soon and is chock full of amazing humans sharing their perspective on mentorship. Grateful to be a part of such an incredible book.

The founder 50… 
Over the course of the last two years while co-founding AskBobAI I’ve probably put on 50 pounds. While I’m certainly not proud of it, I am ok with it. 

See I made choices over the past two years because of the season I was in. Now, starting off 2026 I consciously made this the year of health. I know myself and my capabilities and I know that the 50 will be gone fairly quickly. I don’t regret prior decisions, I just pivot when the season changes for me. 

While speaking to the kids at Amp Lab at Electric Works last week one student asked me what bad advice I had received in life. 

Rather than give something specific, I told them to take advice with a grain of salt. Not everyone’s advice will fit the season you are in and the important thing is to be ok with the decisions you make. 

Now that being said, time to get my butt back into the gym. 😎

1.    Creating a new vision for safety-sustainability improvement through collaborative product foot print 
       development. Delivering on ESG commitment to product risk profiling. 

2.    Oversee industry recognized product safety-health-environment fertilizer program. Delivered a score 
       of 98% in the latest recertification audit.

3.    Evaluation of safer alternative and circular economy opportunities for the business across our 
       product life cycles. Improved sustainability profile.

Senior Manager, Product Risk and Sustainability

Agrium

Leader for the implementation and operation of the product stewardship function for North American wholesale production/distribution and the European distribution fertilizer businesses.  Role was expanded in 2016 to include North America transportation regulatory and customs oversight.

1. Reduced major and minor product liability risks by implementing formalized, repeatable regulatory compliance and customer product assurance processes (safety and quality specification information, product licensing, regulatory monitoring/advocacy and customer technical support).

2. Lead advocate on industry team that resolved tank safety inspection changes.  Team worked out implementation plan with Transport Canada that avoided major spring fertilizer application interruption without compromising safety.

3.  Led the project team to achieve Agrium certification to the International Fertilizer Association Protect and Sustain program (similar to Responsible Care).  The project involved coordination with 20 head office and production functions to meet Environment-Health-Safety and Product Stewardship requirements across the product supply chain.

Product Stewardship Supply Chain Manager

Agrium Advanced Technologies, Inc.

Product Innovation and Intellectual Property Manager	
Led a team of 10 technical experts for new idea generation, R&D and intellectual property assets for controlled release fertilizer technology advancement and new fertilizer product categories.

1. Implemented a multi million dollar intellectual property strategy that resulted in 5 new patents and formalized identification of fertilizer patent space activity and opportunities.  

2. Facilitated product technology improvement and problem solving team comprised of Marketing, Production, R&D and Agronomy participants for a successful $50M plant expansion.  

3. Secured a multi-million dollar Government R&D grant for innovation by presenting a sound product development proposal with clear benefits for Alberta agriculture.

Product Innovation and Intellectual Property Manager

Leader for a team of 65 employees (7 direct reports) with an $8M budget in centralized services department proving site-wide contractor management, purchasing, heavy duty equipment maintenance, information management, and product quality control.

1. Completed centralization of services to cut operating costs by $250K/year.

2. Earned internal clients’ respect for a new department by delivering on improved service levels.

Production Site Technical Services Manager

I approach sustainability challenges with an irrepressible optimism that collectively we have what it takes  to develop the right solutions to repair our environment and improve our future. As a product sustainability leader, I work with individuals and organizations across the value chain to build collaborative effort and turn intent into actions. 

Current initiatives include circular economy business development, product sustainability profiling, safer chemistry substitution, and urban ecosanctuary development to build community engagement.

We must go well beyond regulatory compliance and I'm passionate about championing initiatives to truly make products compliant AND more sustainable for the company, the planet, and us humans.

Stewardship and Sustainability Leader responsible for planning and executing strategies to integrate product stewardship best practices  (raw material supply evaluation, safety information generation, specification management, licensing, regulatory advocacy and customer technical support) across the company and champion product sustainability assessment and improvement initiatives

1.  Installed consistent product stewardship work processes across two recently merged wholesale manufacturing and distribution businesses to improve consistency of approach and effectiveness of results. 

2.  Authoring and reviews of product responsibility practices, programs and information in support of company ESG reporting, sustainability protocols (SASB) and scorecards (S&P DJSI, Sustainalytics)
