If you own a lot of properties, make sure your underwriter knows everything that you do to maintain them for the upcoming renewal. Especially if you’re doing things to make them resistant to storm damage or fires. 

The marketplace is stabilizing. For the first time in years, good risks should be able to get manageable renewal terms. But underwriters are still worried about large losses. 

Windstorms damaging roofs. 

Fires burning down buildings. 

If you’ve had good claims experience over the last couple years, and you can tell a story about what you’ve been doing to maintain that experience, you should be able to negotiate renewals in the low to single digits.
