I work with individuals and organizations to help researchers present better. I start with helping them find their story and then coach them to deliver it in the most effective way.  Since Covid, my work has focused around helping people navigate the shifts to presenting online: 
👉 your voice (tone, pace, volume, pausing) remains your most important tool, and embracing the attitudes and feeling you want to convey is your most critical skill.
👉 stories still rule: tech interaction tricks are useful, but don't get sucked too far down that rabbit hole because stories are still the most effective driver of deep engagement, learning and memory.
👉 understand the impact of body language: while it has become less impactful on the audience, it still influences your own confidence and energy.
👉 the movement of visuals in person competes with your ability to engage your audience, but online, that same movement helps capture and retain attention: adjust accordingly.

Under Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Chow Ming Fai, I assisted in the statistical downscaling of the General Circulation Models (GCM) rainfall data based on 6th Assessment Report (AR6), and perform bias correction based on local weather station rainfall data, covering entirety of Malaysia.

a. Apply MATLAB and R to process 1 TB of GCM and local weather station rainfall data, and extract appropriate data based on the Malaysian context. 
b. Perform data quality check based on statistical performances, statistical downscaling and bias correction based on the location of the Malaysian's weather station. 
c. Convey and educate client to perform data processing and extraction, statistical downscaling, bias correction, and calculation of statistical performances of the rainfall data projected using GCM's data.

Seasonal research assistant

Through this program, I continue to mentor first year students in the unit of ENG1002 (Engineering Design: Cleaner, Safer, Smarter) which prepares them for the branching into Chemical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering.  This unit involves the fundamental mass balance, circuit analysis and material science concerning the thermal properties, optical properties and semiconductor properties. 

Through active interaction, I ensure that the students are able to identify their weakness approaching this unit and help them to improve their understanding of the unit, implement good study habits, and assist them to their decision making of specialization to any specific engineering discipline.

As a Year 4 Civil Engineering Student Representative, I am tasked to communicate the issues concerning within my peers and communicate such concerns with my faculty while working for a viable solutions that satisfy both parties. This involved me to: 

a. Monitor various platform such as Early Review, UReview, Student Evaluation and Teaching Units (SETU) for any form of feedback and compile their concern before reflecting to the faculty for further action.
b. Assist the faculty and the student body in the implementation of faculty town-hall meetup with student to address any concerns physically while promote a discussion in regards to any aspects of the learning and student experience. 
c. Communicate with student in regards with any faculty-related announcement. 
d. Communicate with faculty to streamline current Standard Operating Procedure relating to learning and teaching, enhance student experience, and promote better outreach to industries and professional bodies.

Year 4 Civil Engineering Student Representative 

ICE Monash University Malaysia Student Chapter 

As a Project Committee Director, I am leading a team of 6 student committee in the planning, execution, and documentation of the following 6 events: 

1. Event Series 2022: Life as a civil engineer, which consists of 5 events within the series:
a. Land Surveying with Sr Gs Dr Siti Nur Aliaa Roslan from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where students experience first hand on how to conduct traversing and leveling.
b. Concrete Lab with Dr. Daniel Kong from Monash University Malaysia (MUM), where students have hands-on experience to produce concrete and conduct fresh concrete testing. 
c. Geomechanics Lab with Dr. Raghunandan from MUM, where students can conduct lab and field test relating to the field of geomechanics. 
d. Field trip to the Ministry of Transport (MoT), where students will visit the MoT with Dr. Susilawati to understand the development of the most recent transport project. 
e. Water Quality Testing with Dr. Andreas Aditya Hermawan, where students have the chance to conduct lab and field test to sample the water quality of the South Quay Lake nearby MUM. 

2. Civil Engineering Industry Day, where students can utilize this opportunity to understand the industry, explore potential career pathway, and apply for the dream job they wanted.

Project Committee Director

Sunway Construction Group Berhad

Under Mr. Kenson Ho Kee Seng (Deputy Project Manager) of the LRT3 Project Group Packages GS07 & GS08, I am responsible to monitor and report for the construction progress of Station 18 - Pasar Besar Klang and attempt to address any issue that arises cooperating with my colleagues. Through this experience, I have learned the sequence of works involved in constructing the station, viaducts, park-and-ride and other relevant works involved in this station. 

Besides, I also have the opportunity to communicate and work with many of the stakeholders involved such as operation team, surveyors, environmental, safety and health team, document control team, and various subcontractors. This allows me to understand the working mechanisms that are involved in a large project like this. 

Through this opportunity where I can observe some of the construction processes, I manage to supplement my observation through the study of the technical drawings and other relevant technical document that are used in this project, which allows me to grasp the important of effective communication between consultant and contractor.

Civil Engineering Intern

Monash University Malaysia Engineering Club (MUMEC)

MUMEC is an umbrella organization that liaises among the engineering clubs to enhance the students' experience, provide funding and facilitate collaboration between the clubs. 

My role is to: 
1. Facilitate the needs of each engineering club and student team with the School of Engineering (SoE).
2. Ensure all paperwork required by the SoE are in order while cutting the excessive red tape from overburdening the clubs/teams. 
3. Ensure that the events held by each clubs are smoothly running and achieves its goal. 
4. Coordinate meetings with each clubs and student teams and record the meeting minutes. 

My achievement: 
1. Establish appropriate SOP for the virtual events and management of operation of clubs that are inline with SoE and MUSA operations. 
2. Provide various viable solutions to drive up recruitment for under-performing clubs/teams. 
3. Resolve conflicts between the School and the committee of the clubs/teams. 
4. Oversee the formation of Robogals Monash Malaysia and Institute of Civil Engineers Monash Malaysia Student Chapter.

Secretary

Under Dr Amin Talei, I am responsible for the research project of Rainfall-Runoff (R-R) modelling using AI-based techniques with dynamic learning, which involves the usage of the Self-reliant Fuzzy Inference Network (SaFIN) model, to simulate runoff data based on various input and model parameters.   

This is done so using MATLAB and is tested with 2 catchment data, which is the Dandenong catchment located in Melbourne, Australia and the sub-catchment of Ronne, Kilppan_2, located in Sweden. With the help of Dr. Tak Kwin Chang, I am able to understand the application of a data-driven model in R-R modelling, particularly with the selection of training and validating data sets, and the identification of the sensitivity of the inputs involved in this model.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Project (UROP)

Through this program, I guided students in ENG1001 (Engineering Design: Lighter, Faster, Stronger where fundamental Statics, Dynamics and Mechanical Property of Materials are taught) and ENG1060 (Computing for engineers where the use of MATLAB is taught) every week to ensure they have a firm fundamental understanding of the subject, improve their study habits, while preparing them for the final examination and their decision of specializing in any engineering discipline of their choice.

Under Dr Daniel Kong, I helped a project of solar panel pavers to prepare the pavers for experimental purposes while experience research project in civil engineering.
