They’re the ones that are fast, simple, secure, and easy to run.

Here’s the Website Health Checklist for 2026, straight from the video.

1) Foundations

Update WordPress, your theme, and every plugin.
Then delete what you don’t use.

Fewer plugins, fewer moving parts.
Fewer moving parts, fewer bugs.
Fewer bugs, fewer “why is the site down?” moments.

2) Performance (on mobile, on 4G)

Stop testing on WiFi like it’s 2016.
Use PageSpeed Insights to check load time and stability.

Quick win, switch images to WebP.
And please, stop uploading massive images for tiny boxes.

3) Security sweep

Reset passwords.
Turn on two-factor authentication.

Enable automatic backups.
Store backups off the main server.
And once in a while, test a restore, because hope is not a backup plan.

Run a malware scan too.
Only use plugins from trusted developers.

4) SEO basics

Every key page needs:
A clear topic.
A useful title.
Sensible internal links.

Fix broken links.
Check redirects.
Resubmit your sitemap in Search Console.

5) Sanity check forms and tracking

Click your main forms.
Test key links.
Make sure analytics is still connected and data is flowing.

Because nothing says “we’re guessing” like broken tracking.

My husband and I endured 8.5 years of infertility before finally having our daughter. 8 rounds of IVF, 5 pregnancies, the loss of 5 longed for babies, the stillbirth of our twins and a devastating termination for medical reasons. We talk about this openly to help others going through the same experiences.

Because as much as I’m not pushing any new year, new you messages at you, I’m pretty sure we all have something we can happily leave in last year.

Me? I’m leaving behind saying yes too much*. 

Last year was a great one work wise, but as someone who finds it almost impossible not to help others, I ended the year feeling completely overwhelmed by my diary and working evenings to keep up with my own business progress. 

My boundaries got blurred.

This year, I’m say no and creating space.

Space between calls, space to think, space to write.

with your Vision and Mission.

I know what you’re thinking - we’ve done this all before.

Maybe you have, but I’m going to bet you a chocolate biscuit you can’t recite them from memory without digging out a Google doc first?

And if your vision is “Be the best design agency in Cambridge by delivering great work for our clients”, then you’ve got some work to do mates.

Get these right and everything flows.


Vision:
The driving force behind your organisation. 

 🟢The business focus that gets you up in the morning and maybe keeps you awake at night.
🟢The ultimate aspiration that unites your team and inspires clients to work with you. 
🟢The difference you want to make in the world. 

A vision focuses on tomorrow and what your agency wants to become.


Mission:
Always there, keeping you on track. 

🟡The mini master plan of how you’ll achieve your vision.
🟡It talks to people. Explains what we do for who and why.
🟡It should inform the decisions you make.

Your mission focuses on today and what the organisation does to achieve its vision.


Take mine as an example.

Vision: To change the negative perception of lifestyle agencies, defining them as the future for founders.

Focuses on something I want to see change and happen in the future.

Mission: Supporting overwhelmed solo founders build the agency they want, putting life before work. 

Simply explains who I work for and how I’ll support them to achieve the vision.

What’s your founder success criteria?
And what are the metrics you’re measuring that will define it as a success?

Too often we allow the agency to define how our life looks, and that’s a dangerous trap to fall into.

❌ We spend longer hours working just to ‘earn’ days off.
❌ Miss time with friends and family being ‘on call’ for clients.
❌ Neglect our own health and wellbeing by skipping gym sessions to ‘catch up’ at work.

The life you want doesn’t have to be earned by working harder and longer in your agency.

You get to design the life you want and structure the agency around it.

You don’t need to find yourself stuck 10 years from now, desperate to take Fridays off. Decide what you want, then build the agency model that allows you to do it now.

Ask yourself the question “what’s really important to me?”

Because that’s what’s going to set your founder's success criteria.

❓Want a day to yourself every week? Great, build the agency around a 4 day week.
❓Want to travel half the year and work remotely? Great, build an epic freelance team around you.
❓Want to be at school drop off and pick up time every day? Great, set your working hours around them.

You get to choose the exact way you want to build your agency, there’s no rule book here.

Try this:

✅ Book out non-working days in your diary (I actively advise clients to take time off weekly - in some cases I enforce it!)
✅ Set your non-negotiables. This might be gym sessions, daily walks, school picks or even 50% of calls taken outside. Lock them in the diary too. 
✅ Work out what’s enough for you in terms of revenue. How much do you really need to earn that’s enough for the life you want?


Design the life you want and structure the agency around it.

After all, lifestyle is a plan.
