Recently, I was standing up to speak to 100 high-net-worth investors in Thailand.

For a moment, I was freaking out.

Not because of the presentation, but because of what hit me at that moment.

I came here 33 years ago knowing nothing, knowing no one.
Now I'm managing $200 million of these people's money.

My mom was there to see it. Just incredible.

I didn't come to Thailand to build a finance career.

Lynch often wrote about using his everyday life, including shopping trips with his family, as an opportunity for fundamental analysis. He would count bags in shopping malls to see which stores were popular, a simple but effective way for an individual investor to spot emerging trends before Wall Street analysts. He saw malls as a convenient lineup of potential investments.

This quote has always stayed with me.

To me, it means we have to believe in something. And belief is not blind. It comes from evidence, thought, experience, and seeing what truly stands the test of time.
Everyone believes in different things. 

But if I say I believe in something, I should be able to explain why. I should be able to support it with logic and experience, not just follow the crowd.

I read The Autobiography of Malcolm X when I was young, and it is still one of my top books of all time. What inspired me most was not just what he stood for, but how he questioned himself. When he realized something was wrong, he was willing to rethink his own beliefs.

Most of us do the opposite. I do it too sometimes. We rarely question our beliefs. We just reinforce them.

Standing for something matters.
But keeping an open mind matters just as much.

Otherwise, we just get carried away by whatever direction the world pushes us.
This is also how I think about investing and valuation. Real conviction comes from independent thinking, not noise or trends.
