For many years, it wasn’t clear to me either…

Well, I always wanted to be free. And YouTube has been my way to achieve that freedom.

But equally, it could have been Facebook ads or trading. Because I also tried these (and many others) before doing YouTube.

Last year, I realized I had achieved the freedom I had been working for since 2021. But with that realization, the passion for YouTube also faded.

And I didn’t understand why…

Until today. Today, I just finished reading the book “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek.

And that’s when the pieces fell into place. I finally understood MY WHY.

Because my WHY (the purpose you give to your life) is about experiencing life on my own terms. 

And it wasn't about YouTube, video editing, social media marketing, or any of the thousands of different jobs I did before.

It was about finding a way to make that "why" come true.

Today, I can say that I'm able to experience my life on my own terms thanks to #YouTube.

And it doesn’t matter I’m not passionate about doing YouTube every single day.

It's still the best thing that happened to me because it gave me the foundation to realize my WHY.

Right now, YouTube is not the main goal anymore. Right now, I'm:
➔ building a business
➔ managing a team
➔ creating the best service possible for our customers.

These are the next foundations to build my WHY on.

And that’s what life is truly about, especially the life I want to experience on my own terms.

Your thumbnails aren’t just for clicks.

They attract CLIENTS. (if done like this 👇 )


The thumbnail has always been the most reviewed element of a YouTube video. Every YouTube guru 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 that this will make or break your video.

But if you’re a business owner or expert? You want thumbnails that bring clients.

Ask yourself these 3 questions every time you post:

𝟭. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁?

In professional videos, the choice between video A and B comes down to authority. We want to be helped by the person with the most expertise.

So make sure the thumbnail reinforces your experience.

✔ There are 3 ways to do that:
→ YOUR EXPRESSION: You’re not on YouTube to create clickbait. Show emotion, but don’t overexpress yourself.

→ YOUR CLOTHING: Unconsciously, your viewers are influenced by prejudices. A good doctor wears a scrub. An attorney wears a suit. And so on.

→ YOUR DESIGN: Don’t overdesign your thumbnail. Simplicity beats complexity at all times. (I’ll come back to this in a second).

𝟮. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Your thumbnail should create an open loop. 

Present a problem they care about.
Hint at the solution.
But only reveal it in the video.

That’s how you drive clicks from the right viewers.

𝟯. 𝗜𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝟭 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱?

If viewers need more than 1 second to understand your thumbnail, you lose them. That’s why you need to keep it simple and professional. 


✔ Just follow these 3 DESIGN RULES:

➔ Use your actual video background. It creates an instant connection between the video and your thumbnail. But blur the background slightly to make the other elements pop.

➔ Before I mentioned not to overdesign your thumbnail. Stick to a maximum of 3 elements:
 ↳ Your picture to create recognizability
 ↳ Text that helps to create the open loop
 ↳ 1 visual element to support the text

➔ And finally, keep your text under 5 words.

I used to spend 3 hours per client and get mediocre results.

Now, I understand the problem and this happened… (see image)

And, to be honest, there was nothing wrong with the results we were getting before. 

The clients were happy, getting inbound leads from YouTube, and their business revenue was growing.

But I knew we could do better. 

So I set myself a challenge for 2026:
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁.

To achieve that, we turned our YouTube research upside down:

➔ We stopped settling for good video topics
➔ Doubled the required data before making a decision
➔ Only approved the best 5 topics

We went from spending 3 hours per client on topic research to 3 days of research.

So no shortcuts, crazy AI automations, or expensive software. But heads down and doing the work.

That’s how we are going from mediocre to great results.

Is it worth?

Well, in the last 30 days, a financial planner we work with went from 22,000 views and 3 leads to 274,000 views and 45 leads. 

At the same time, a coach went from 36,000 views and 1 client to 78,000 views and 7 clients.

It was time to do whatever it takes!

To be able to attract leads, you need to make it as easy as possible to find your #YouTube channel and your business offer.

This is why you need only ONE clickable link in your about page and at the top of your video description that leads viewers to your business offer.

Adding several links (social media, trustpilot reviews, exc...) creates confusion and will lead to fewer conversions.

I have fired a client.
And she loved it.

This conversation I was about to have was going to be the hardest in a while...

But it needed to happen.

I haven't felt this anxiety before a meeting in a long time.

She was already waiting for me (so I couldn’t postpone it any longer…)

I didn’t know how to approach the subject because I've never done this before.

So I just started with: "Look, I need to tell you something.”

And I told her that we would stop the collaboration because it wasn’t working.

After a short pause, she responded. I couldn’t believe what I heard:

“You know, Jente, I love your integrity and how you are honest about this, You don’t just continue the collaboration to earn some more money.”

That was it!

For the first time in my 7 years on #YouTube, I stopped the collaboration with a client, and it just turned out fine. For everyone.

➔ The client appreciated me more because I made this decision in her best interest.
➔ The team was relieved that they could focus their attention on the clients on whom they could have a significant impact.
➔ I was satisfied she didn’t berate me. 😅

This has been a big lesson for me with an important takeaway:

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 also means letting go of the people you can’t help, in order to focus more on the ones you CAN help.

BUT I’m curious to know what you think,

I’ve realised that most creators think authority means being perfect, but the 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 proves that showing a little humanity actually makes you more credible.

In the video I’m sharing how minor, relatable mistakes help bridge the gap between being a distant expert and a trusted one.

Do you know that feeling when you post a new YouTube video

…and nothing happens? (I’ve been there too)

So you post another one. Then another...

And you, together with 97% of business owners, stay stuck in this cycle for months!

It's frustrating, but there is a solution. Because what I discovered after helping 100+ businesses grow with YouTube might surprise you.

So, the problem isn’t the videos, but how the channel was set up BEFORE the first video ever went live.

Here are the top 4 mistakes I see 👇 


➔ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

This can quietly kill your reach because, since 2021, YouTube has been full of AI-generated channels. To go against this, the platform became more protective and the algorithm assumes your channel is might be spam. 

But this is not happening with existing YouTube channels. 
So if you have a personal YouTube profile you haven’t used in years, it’s better to upload there. 

I was skeptical as well, but we have seen explosive results with the few businesses we tested this.

➔ 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲  

Before uploading your first video, you should prime the account. 

That means: 
- Watching videos your ideal clients watch,
- subscribing to relevant channels,
- and sending clear signals to YouTube about your niche 

Now, YouTube already understands who your content is for before your first upload.

➔ 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀

When someone clicks your channel for the first time, they decide in seconds if they trust you.

Your profile picture and the channel banner heavily influence that decision. 

And surprisingly, YouTube also uses these signals to understand whether your channel represents a real business or just entertainment content.

➔ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 

I’ve reviewed over 1,000 YouTube channels recently. 
96% of them make this mistake. 

They add 5 or more different links. Instead, your channel should have ONE clear link to your offer. Otherwise, viewers are confused about what the next step is.
