Having previously worked as a “Big 4” accounting professional for many years, and as one of the nation’s leading experts in cannabis accounting, I noticed a niche market in the cannabis industry for trained accounting professionals who really understood how to financially manage this unique line of business.

I saw this as an untapped market. Many states in the last couple of years have legalized the use of medical cannabis, while some have legalized it for both medical and recreational purposes. Yet there are simply not enough trained accounting professionals to serve the tens of thousands of companies operating in this space. As well, I knew there were many accounting professionals out there, myself included, who didn’t feel they were being financially rewarded for their efforts. Often this was because the industries we worked in simply did not have the margins to pay well.
