This week 3 years ago I went back to work after my sick leave for exhaustion syndrome. 

Coming to terms with that word – and even worse: burnout – has been a journey for a high performer like me, with big ambitions in all areas of life. For a long time, I felt ashamed about it. 

Many of you know me as a happy, energetic and positive person. And I am.

But like everyone else, I have my dips. 
The autumn of 2022 was a deep one.

> I had worked far too much for too long.
> I was handling new demands and responsibilities without getting more resources for the team – sometimes not even a thank you.
> Life at home was intense: three active children, one was struggling a lot in high school and needed a lot of support.
> In the middle of all of this I lost my Dad.
 
What kept me going for as long as I did was that I prioritised the basics: sleep, food, exercise. And fantastic support from my husband. It was actually he who finally said: “Either you call your manager, or I will.”

The three months I spent at home made me rethink a lot of things. I reflected a lot, listened more carefully inwards and started making other choices. 

This is what helped me:
✅ Starting each day with breathing and practising taking control of my thoughts
✅ Reflecting and journaling about everyday happy moments
✅ Spending a lot of time outdoors, long walks by the sea
✅ Practicing setting boundaries with myself and others
✅ Being coached
✅ Exercising
And getting lots of love from family and friends ❤️ 
 
It can be hard to see the signs when things are becoming too much. I certainly didn’t.

So if you’re feeling low, easily irritated, unfocused or constantly on the run... please: slow down, check in with yourself and start putting yourself first a bit more. 

I was the last one to realise I had burned out.

What a fr***in mess. I felt sooo stupid. 

Yesterday I ran my online workshop. Halfway through my screen froze and I got kicked out from my own meeting.

– Wow, you all look very focused, I said to the participants as they came back from setting their goals, and I felt so happy about the dedication I saw. 

Then I noticed: my screen had frozen completely. 
They couldn't hear me. 
I couldn't hear them. 

$hit. 

Luckily the meeting chat worked fine, so long story short I let everyone know I'd leave and rejoin the meeting, but it wouldn't let me leave so I tried leaving again but it wouldn't let me since it was just stuck, so I joined from my phone instead trying to keep up with what I was teaching while at the same time restarting my computer hoping it would let me back in. Which it did 🙏🏼

Phew.

We went on from there. 
Everyone got their roadmaps for 2026✌🏼

I can't help but laugh at this. This is exactly the kind of mess you DON'T want “on stage” (or backstage, for that matter).

But this is leadership too. This is facilitation too – dancing in the moment, staying present when things wobble, bringing the process forward and trusting that “good enough” is enough. And if nothing else, it's a proof of being human.

Good thing tech support isn't part of my services 😬

Here's a question for you: 
What do you do when things don't go as planned?

3 years ago I sat in my car outside my office building, just as my doctor recommended.

“Just go there once before you start.
Don’t go in. Just look.”

So that’s what I did.
I sat there watching as a way of mentally preparing myself to go back to work after my burnout.

I remember it felt like returning with a version of myself I no longer fully trusted. Rough feeling to be with for sure. 

They say some things never quite go back to how they were after a burnout... I think they’re right (my husband agrees. He says there’s a 'before' and an 'after').

And yes, I sure miss some qualities I used to have.
At the same time, I’ve gained others.

I am grateful for the learnings, but hitting the wall like I did is nothing I recommend.

One of my biggest learnings is about setting – and keeping – clear boundaries. 

Not only with others.
But with yourself.

Knowing when to pause, rest and take care of yourself is a boundary in itself. 

Especially when the inner drive to push through and "just finish this little thing too" is hard to resist.

Teaching balance and boundaries and last night I caught myself

> Watching Sweden shred Croatia in handball Euros
> Texting with my Mom
> Catching up on news reading Mark Carney’s speech

...all at the same time. Triple-tasking. Double-screening. 

And you know what else?

Some days I forget to pause. I lose track of time and just... keep going.

Which only makes me edgy and irritated. Far from my best self.

So how dare I talk about sustainable self-leadership, if I don’t even get my own basics right...?

Because I’m human.

Which means I don’t always get it right (who does?).

Here’s the difference from when my bad good girl ruled the show:

I don’t beat myself up about it.
I catch it, stop and return to what I know works.

Who said the coach can't make mistakes?

Slipping is normal.
Finding your way back is something you practice in small ways, every day.

Grateful for the reminder last night.
And for Sweden’s win!!

PS. Tournament is held in Malmö where I live. Anyone on site last night?

I've coached Comms Managers, CFO:s, Project Leaders, Marketing Managers. Over the years, one pattern keeps repeating:

They're exceptional at meeting everyone’s needs. 
Their own come last.

The reasons are familiar:

> There’s never enough time. 
> Doing things yourself seems faster (and better)
> They're afraid they'll be disliked if they say no

Still though: this logic doesn't hold up. 

When you don’t protect your boundaries and your energy, something will slowly fade away. Your sincere smile likely goes first. Then your presence and focus. Your temper. Worst case → you'll burn out (like I did). 

Leadership isn’t only what you give to others. 
It’s also about what you give to yourself, over time.

You can't be sharp, steady and effective if you permanently exclude yourself from your own priorities. 

Meaning: making space for YOU in your calendar.

And (sorry to say), this won’t happen on its own.

The tempo will not just "slow down". No one's coming to hand you more time.

You need to plan for it. With the same seriousness as the meetings you never cancel 😉

I was the teachers' favourite in school. 

I'm sure you know the type: 

> Good grades
> Didn't cause any trouble
> Raised my hand before speaking and got seated to the rowdier ones to help keep them calm (how crazy is that?)

Oh, teachers loved me.
Later, managers did too.

I can see why – us good girls are easy to work with. 
We are very good at delivering without asking for too much in return.

I can also see this: 
Being “easy” earns you safety, praise and belonging.

Keeps you safe when you're young.
But in leadership?

Success built on fear – of disappointing, disrupting or being too much – demands constant proof.

It's tiring to be a good girl. 

And this is what I mean when I talk about being a bad good girl.

How much of a bad good girl have you become 

Here’s how to get really good at expressing clear boundaries. For free.

Step 1: Pick 3–4 real (or very likely) situations where you’ll need to set a boundary.

Step 2: Open your camera or voice notes.

Step 3: Record yourself saying it as if you were talking to the other person.
Do this for all scenarios.

Step 4: Watch or listen. What do you notice?

Step 5: Choose one thing to improve – then repeat from step 2.

You’ll likely spot things like:

> Rambling or over-explaining
> Saying ummmm.... 
> Sounding unsure or submissive
> Excusing yourself too much

Remember to breeeeeathe.
Keep it short. Keep it fun! You're playing. 

Do this 5 times, then review your first recording.
I’m pretty sure the progress will surprise you 🤓

Training boundary setting is like training any muscle.
This will build strength. And as a bonus, also your confidence.

💛 This is one of the challenges I give the women in my 2-week Boundary Bootcamp. We just kicked off week two, and the wins the participants are sharing already make me so proud about their progress!

In October a woman joined Boundary Bootcamp after being close to burnout for a long time.

She was doing her job really well, being relied on, stepping in where things needed to be handled. 

From the outside, it looked like competence. 
From the inside, it was draining her.

In her check-in to the bootcamp she described full days, a constantly busy mind and very little space left for herself. 

Responsibility had its sneaky way of expanding, and she had bit by bit started to carry more than her own load.

A month or so after the Bootcamp she wrote me this:

“I’ve had great help from your sessions after being very close to burnout for a year. I felt a lot better after going through your 2-week program where I learnt to say no, delegate and not throw myself at every single task just to be good.”

Nothing about her drive or ambition disappeared. 
What shifted was how she related to it.

This is often how boundary work shows up.
As a series of small, conscious choices that create more room to breathe.

That’s the kind of change I care about.

Hennes team hade fullt förtroende för henne.
Men uppifrån organisationen fick hon andra signaler.

När Anna kom till första träffen i Ledarprogrammet Perspeqtiv var hon osäker på om hennes sätt att leda verkligen var ett bra sätt att leda. 

Hon kände sig ifrågasatt och mikrostyrd. 
Inte riktigt uppskattad för det hon bidrog med, trots fina resultat och ett team som fungerade väldigt bra. 

Hon hade börjat tvivla på sig själv. 

Under programmets gång blev det allt tydligare att Anna har en mycket emotionellt intelligent ledarstil, och en inre kompass som leder henne tydligt och klart. 

Dilemmat var snarare om den här arbetsplatsen var rätt för henne. Och i att stärka hennes trygghet i hur hon leder, och hennes eget förhållningssätt till det. 

"Jag fick större tillit till mitt nuvarande ledarskap genom att bli speglad, utmanad och hjälpt av andra kvinnliga ledare i ett 100% tryggt rum." 

Hon började lita mer på sitt eget omdöme igen. Hon slutade tolka andras kontroll som en signal på att hon gjorde fel. Hon fick ord för allt det hon redan gjorde rätt.

Kort därefter tog hon nästa steg – till en arbetsgivare där hennes styrkor och ledarskap kommer till sin fulla rätt.

"Jag upptäckte att färdigheter som jag tycker är lätta och självklara, och därmed inte sett som speciella eller värdefulla, tvärtom är mycket värdefulla. Och att det inte alls är något alla gör, utan är en styrka i just mitt ledarskap."

Landa i sitt eget ledarskap, och sen landa på rätt plats. Den förflyttningen, på 10 månader – inte illa!

Who never blamed a Monday? Or January?
Easy explanations are tempting.
It takes more courage to ask why the same pattern keeps coming back.

“Oh, you know… it’s just one of those days.”

How many of "those days" are there? 

I surely had a few of them 😬
So I know they can be plenty. 

But who are we fooling? At some point, I had to ask myself a more honest question:

What if it’s not about timing at all?

What if the low energy, the resistance, the irritation keeps returning not because of the day, the hour or the colour of the sky... but because of something else?

You bet it was uncomfortable to realise that many of the habits and qualities that had taken me far in life were the same ones slowly wearing me down.

That insight came too late to me. I burnt out. 
But it can still change something for the better for you.

Action will.

Without a plan – and action of course! – resolutions stay what they are: thoughts, wishes, good intentions.

And you end up in the same place.

The gap between intention and action is where most resolutions fall apart.

And it’s also where clarity makes all the difference.

12,537 km. That’s the exact distance I traveled to realize I was done waiting for permission to buy a pencil.


In 2018, I was flying from Gothenburg to Pretoria to teach South African youth how to start their own business.

(And yes, I’m the person who actually checked the flight coordinates on a map. My engineering mind doesn’t do "approximate," even when my heart is doing something wild.)


Before this, I spent years as an engineer for a German automotive giant. 

I loved the precision, but I was suffocating under the "slow." 

I was tired of needing 3 signatures and a 14-day wait just to get a new pencil.


I didn’t have the patience for it then. 

I definitely don't have it now.


And in South Africa, I taught young people who weren’t waiting for a government or a committee to save them. 

They were done with the waiting room. 

They were ready to build their own futures, for their families, their neighbors, and their communities.

They needed zero "inspiration." They already had the vision. 

They just needed the Architecture so they could build their own luck.


That trip confirmed the throughline of my life:

Politics is a slow burn. Corporate is a treadmill. 

But Entrepreneurship? It’s world-building.


That trip is exactly why I do what I do today.


I’m not here to help you "get visible" on the internet. 
Honestly? That’s just the vehicle. 

I am here to give you the Architecture for a new world. 

One where you don't shrink yourself to fit a corporate ladder, and where you build wealth that lasts generations.

What was the biggest reason for you to start your own business?

Every business I’ve built started as something slightly unhinged on a whiteboard.


You know, building businesses is my creative expression.

And every December and early January, I disappear a little.
(Sorry if I haven't answered your DM yet, that's why)

This is the part of the year where I don’t push anything forward yet.

I just sit and let ideas breathe. I walk them around.
I test them in my head before they ever touch a spreadsheet.


There’s usually a giant whiteboard involved.
A notebook that makes no sense to anyone but me.

Half-formed thoughts. Arrows. Things crossed out.
Things circled three times for no clear reason.


From the outside, it probably looks a bit insane.
(As I'm writing this, I'm surrounded by 4 whiteboards with cryptic-looking scribbles and 2 journals + 1 to-do list 😅)

Yet, this is what I LOVE.


This is how I design a business before I build it.

At some point, though, something shifts.


The ideas stop floating. They start asking for form.


And that’s the moment I always find both exciting and deeply uncomfortable. When something that lived safely in my head has to become concrete enough to act on.

Because your taste develops faster than your skills.
Your standards evolve before your systems catch up.

So the first version of what you build will never match the thing you imagined.


This is where most people get stuck.

They keep refining the vision to avoid the moment when it has to meet reality.
Or they rush into execution and lose the original intelligence of the idea.


What I’ve learned, after years of building businesses, is to let both exist.

To honor the playfulness of the idea phase. And then deliberately translate it into something imperfect, structured, and actionable.

Because a business doesn’t come to life fully formed.
It comes to life through iterations.


This is why I treat business-building as a creative act, not a grind.

It’s an artform learning how to pull something intangible into reality, piece by piece, without losing its essence along the way.

And that’s the kind of building I care about.


Because the businesses that last aren’t rushed into existence.
They’re translated carefully.

Is there an idea you’re quietly shaping for 2026?

Not using AI for your business is not a flex. 
It’s a sign that you are not keeping up, and frankly, a sign that you have far too much time to spend being miserable.


There is this odd, New Age pride in "doing things the hard way." 

It’s as if people think that if they don’t suffer through the manual labor, their work won't have soul. 

I operate on the exact opposite principle.

My clients don’t hire me to see how much I can sweat. 

They hire me for my taste, my discernment, and my refusal to waste a single second of their time (or mine).


I see it as part of my job to constantly search the AI world so you don't have to. 

I treat tools like actors in a play; just because two people look the same on paper doesn't mean they’ll give the same performance.

Take a part of my client process, for example.

Doing it manually: 5 hours. Five hours! 

That is the length of a long-haul flight where the movie doesn't work and the person in 14B wants to tell you about their truck. Tragedy.

Using ChatGPT: 2 hours. 

A significant improvement, like finding out your blind date is actually quite handsome, but you still have to do all the talking.

Using Gemini: 30 minutes.

On paper, these tools look identical. 
In practice, for this specific architecture, one was a revelation and the other was just... fine. Finding that difference is the entire point.


Now I have four extra hours in my pocket to spend on things that actually require a human heart, like a very long lunch or wondering why we are already halfway through January. 

Please stop romanticizing the friction. 
Start architecting the leverage.

Today is my first day back after 4 weeks off.
Monday to-dos: 1 sales call, 1 onboarding call.


It felt good to step away for 4 weeks and not open this app much.

To not stay “on top of” DMs.
To not turn every idea into content instantly.

Things slowed down.
Which is exactly what I wanted them to do.

But people still reached out.
Still decided that now was the moment they wanted to work together.


That only happens when a business isn’t dependent on constant presence.

When visibility compounds instead of expires.

When the system holds even when the founder steps away.


This is the part of LinkedIn people rarely talk about.

Used poorly, it demands daily performance.
Used well, it becomes leverage.


At some point, I stopped building a business that only works when I’m constantly visible, responsive, and “on.” And started building one designed to operate quietly in the background while I live my life.


Coming back now, I feel clear.

There are ideas I’ve been shaping quietly.
Directions I’m very deliberate about taking this year.

I’ll share them when they’re ready.

For today, this feels like enough.


A calm re-entry.
A business with room to breathe.
And a calendar that reflects the life I’m building.

Why Your “Professional” Brand is Actually a Cloak of Invisibility

My nickname became the "Silent Killer"


During my time at a SaaS scale-up, I was the resident outlier. 

While everyone else was busy practicing their "digital jazz hands", dominating meetings and ensuring they were "seen" by leadership, I was... quiet.

My manager wouldn't hear a peep from me for weeks. 

In the high-decibel world of sales, being invisible is usually a career suicide note. But while I wasn't making noise, I was making moves. 

I was consistently a top closer.


Even though I'm allergic to "selling." 

But luckily, I loooove consulting. 


And at some point, I figured out that I could stop trying to convince people and started trying to help them understand instead. 

I realized that my job wasn't to talk someone into a corner; it was to lay the cards on the table so they could make the most informed decision possible.


Most people never pause long enough to listen fully.
They’re just waiting for their turn to be "charismatic." 

But you can’t solve a problem you haven’t fully heard. 


If the traditional sales process makes you feel like a sleazy car dealer, it’s because you’re trying to wear someone else's skin. And in this case, it feels like a cheap, itchy polyester suit. 

So I would recommend: stop wearing it 🙋🏼‍♀️


Sales doesn't have to be a battle of wits. 

It can be a calm, high-value conversation between two people trying to solve a problem. 

You just have to be brave enough to stop talking and start helping.


I’m curious, what’s the one part of "traditional sales" that has always felt the most like a "cheap polyester suit" to you?

Being the most qualified person in your field, but the least sought-after, isn't a marketing problem. It’s an infrastructure failure.


I see brilliant women daily (ex-VPs, Directors, Managers) treating LinkedIn like a digital museum of their past instead of a high-conversion asset for their future.

Here are the 3 structural cracks I see in "Expert" profiles:

1. The Translation Gap 

You have 20 years of depth, but your LinkedIn sounds like a job description. 

You are talking about what you did instead of the problem you solve now. 

If the market has to work hard to "figure you out," they won't hire you. 

They’ll just find someone who is easier to categorize.


2. The Volume Trap 

You think you need to post daily to "stay relevant." 
(I can feel your nervous system twitching from here.) 

In the old world, volume was the metric. 
In the new world, Signal is the metric. 

One high-leverage asset is worth more than thirty "motivational" posts that lead nowhere.


3. The "Option" vs. "Essential" Framing 

If you provide "information," you are an option. 

If you provide a "solution", you are essential. 

People pay for the person who can see the structural cracks they didn’t even know were there.


I know you didn't leave the corporate world to become a full-time content creator. 

All you want is to do deep, meaningful work.

Which of these "cracks" feels the most real for you right now?

I just saw a 20-year reputation catch fire in the time it takes to brew an espresso.


It started when a former VP decided she was "too busy" to handle her own LinkedIn outreach.

So, she did what most people do when they’re exhausted by the "hustle." 

She hired an agency.


They promised her "leverage." 

They promised her "a calendar full of qualified leads." 

They promised to "take the heavy lifting off her plate."


Here is the part they didn't mention in the sales pitch: An agency doesn’t care about your legacy. They care about their spreadsheet.


While you’re focused on building a category-of-one consulting practice, they are focused on "Volume."


They log into your account and start hunting for the 1% of your audience who are "ready to buy" today, and in the process, they burn the 99% of people who would have bought from you for the next ten years.

You cannot outsource your nuance before you have mastered your signal.

If you haven’t sat in the DMs yourself, if you haven’t felt the "nervous system response" of your ICP to a specific question, you aren't delegating. 

You’re gambling.


When you hire an agency before you have the Infrastructure in place, you are handing a torch to someone who has no incentive to keep your house from burning down.


My rule: We master the conversation first. 

Document the DNA of what actually works. 

Build the operating rhythm that protects your brand.

Then, and only then, do you outsource.


Your depth is your only real moat. 

Don't let a "growth hack" turn it into a commodity.


If you’re ready to stop the "Outreach Chaos" and actually build a system that commands demand without the cringe, we should talk.

I keep seeing advice like:
“Commit to posting daily in 2026.”
“Send 100 DMs a day to book meetings.”
“Post on every platform to be omnipresent.”

And every time I hear it, I think:
To build what exactly?


Because while I think it is helpful to focus on inputs, you first need to decide what destination you want to reach by the end of it.

To clarify this, here are a few questions most people skip entirely:

1) Are you building a solo consulting or coaching business where you need 2–5 high-ticket clients a month?

Or a product business where you sell something for €5 and need thousands of customers?

2) Do you want a lean, highly profitable one-woman business?

Or are you planning to build a team and scale something bigger?

Getting crystal clear on this is crucial.


Because it determines:
– How visible you actually need to be
– How many platforms make sense 
– How much content you need 
– How many moving pieces your business should even have


Quick confession 🤭
When I started my first service business, I wrote a multi-page business plan.
Forecasts. Charts. Very serious energy.

Completely useless.

I came from the tech startup world, where business plans were mandatory.
Investors wanted them. Banks wanted them. Everyone wanted projections.

But I didn't need one to build an ultra-profitable one-person coaching biz ...


Most of you are simply overwhelmed because you’re executing without deciding what kind of business you actually want to build.

Or you are learning from someone who is building something completely different from your dream. 


This is why I always start there with clients.

Not “do more.”
But “what are we building and what does this actually require?”

Once that’s clear, the to-do list gets a lot shorter.
And thankfully… a lot more effective.

Most likely, there are fewer than a handful of tasks that will actually move you closer to your revenue goal. The question is: Do you know which?

So I need to apologize to everyone I’ve ever told, perhaps a bit too logically and without enough empathy, to remove their viral posts from their Featured section.

I’m sorry for the bluntness. 
But I was still right. 😅


Your LinkedIn profile isn't a digital museum for your greatest hits. 

It’s Conversion Infrastructure. 

And infrastructure has a very specific job description.


Specifically, your profile has 3 jobs:

1. Explain 
Who do you help and what is the transformation?

2. Evidence 
Why should they trust you?

3. The Exit Path
What is the exact next step they should take? 
(Book a call, join the list, etc.)


Your Featured section is the "Closing Room" of your profile. 

It should be reserved for: 
→ A direct link to work with you. 
→ A high-value lead magnet 
→ Something like a deep-dive article that builds logical trust.

In 99% of cases, that viral post, the one with the "juicy" numbers, doesn't help your ideal client make a buying decision. 

It just shows them that you’re popular.

(And being popular is fine, but it doesn't pay the mortgage or fix a structural business crack.)


So, I’m keeping my Featured section boring and high-converting. 
I suggest you do the same.

(Your nervous system will thank you for the steady leads more than the vanity metrics anyway. 😇)
