Flucture is a coaching consultancy set up to work with a very specific type of client. We work with business owners that currently operate an ‘adolescent' stage business to assist them in transitioning the business to a ‘mature' stage company. A mature business being one where the owner/founder/MD does not need to be involved into the day-to-day operations and can spend the majority of their time working strategically ON rather than IN their business.

To do this we introduce them to 3 mantras which if embed in to the way they operate will enable them and their business to make the transformation they desire.

The mantras are:
1) Better Before Bigger - focussing on improving the quality across their business rather than prioritising quantity. Investment is need in upgrading the way the business operates ahead of further growth. Profit is prioritised ahead of turnover. 

2) Flucture - which simply means having an appropriate amount of both Flexibility and Structure in the business simultaneously. Most adolescent businesses have too much flexibility to allow them to scale much further, so more more processes, systems and standardisation is needed.

3) Embracing the Plateau - this refers to the mindset needed by those leading the business. To scale confidently most business need a period of regeneration where they take the time to understand where they are at and what has made them successful. This introspection underpins the future growth strategy and will enable them to move forward with confidence and clarity.

Our typical clients are passionate entrepreneurs who are in danger of being trapped in the business they have created around them and need assistance in defining their future role, creating an appropriate organisational structure around them and putting in place a range of processes and reporting mechanisms which allow the business to reach its full potential

Business Coach

As an independent business coach I have supported many business owners to grow from start-up and micro businesses (<5 employees) to become successful small businesses with £5m + revenue and sustainable momentum. My clients are primarily in Bath, Bristol and Somerset.

I help clients to:

•	gain time to work ON their business
•	increase their financial and emotional returns 
•	identify changes needed in order to grow 
•	build and manage a high performance team. 

The approach I take has three proven stages:

•	initial and periodic business diagnostics, key to high growth and a specialisation of mine
•	initial interventions to creatively re-think the options and develop appropriate strategies
•	ongoing support to embed those strategies into business operations and behaviours.

As a business coach my aim is to create momentum within a business, inspire confidence in the business owner and the team and enable them to actualise and realise their business vision.

Examples of recent projects:

•	Squashskills: I coached the owners to create a business plan and financial projections that have resulted in £250K investment into their business. Squashskills has grown from 2 founders to a team of 8 within 18 months and has secured £250K of external investment.

•	DBS: I worked with the MD to create a new organisational structure and business processes, assisted in the recruitment of the new team, and coached the new tier of management. DBS has grown from 4 to 16 staff and achieved a 100% increase in turnover each year for the past 2 years.

•	PES: I worked with the MD to create a revised business plan which helped secure £300K of external investment. I assisted with the change program that aligned processes and monitoring systems to measure performance against the plan. PES has grown from 8 to 20 staff in 2 year period.

I want to assist business owners to achieve their vision, and I know from personal experience how difficult it is to do on their own, and how much a coaching relationship can speed up this process.

My what's are....

My service is based on 3 core competencies that I will bring to each relationship;

1) Creating momentum - momentum is one of the key components that all businesses need to reach the next level and if it is not present sustainable growth is unlikely to be achieve able. By increasing the urgency and clarifying the objectives procrastination is reduced and uncertainty will be replaced by action - hence momentum will be created.

2) Inspiring confidence - the confidence levels of the MD and senior management team in their ability to reach their goals directly impacts the likelihood of them doing so. A coach working as both as a sounding board and an accountability partner will embed responsibility and improve decision, which results in increased confidence levels in those running the business.

3) Improving focus - identification of the key actions, key drivers and key components within any given business is key to improving performance. Disproportional time and resource needs to be spend on the 20% of actions, drivers and components that give 80% of the results in order to achieve optimal growth and to create the highest ROI.

At the age of 25 I set up and ran my own business in the fitness and child care industry. 
At its peak the business was employing over 30 staff. 

I was responsible for all aspects of the business including:
 - customer services and delivery, 
 - customer acquisition, sales and business development, 
 - staff recruitment, training and supervision
 - premises and facilities and equipment
 - admin and finance procedures
 - development of team and section leaders as the business grew

Over the 17 year period I developed many skills through practical experience. In particular these come under resource management, lean and agil methods and business process management.
