I've lived this.

I started my career in accounting at Deloitte, earned my Chartered Accounting qualification, transitioned to numerous finance roles, and climbed to Executive Director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in institutional funds management. 

On paper, I’d made it.

In reality, I was burnt out, disconnected, and craving work that felt human again.

So, I did what most people are afraid to do, I left a “safe” career with no plan B.

What came next changed everything.

I retrained in wellbeing, coaching, and personal development.

I rebuilt my identity, my community, and my confidence by learning to show my value with clarity instead of hustle.

Since then I founded Transition With Purpose (TWP) to help others do the same.

When your direction, credibility, and presence align, your career, income and your self-belief accelerates.

Because after years of building, the next chapter isn’t about finding another job.

It’s about repositioning who you are and what you’re known for.

If you’re not ready to talk about how you use AI in your work

you’re not fully interview-ready.

Can you apply AI intelligently within the context of this role? 

Be ready to speak to the AI question in a way that makes sense for your function.

It’s not just tech roles being asked.

One of my clients, a BDM, recently walked into an interview.

He had nailed every part of the process but stumbled on the AI question:

“What’s your approach to using AI in your work?”

He paused.
He wasn’t prepared.
He gave a light, surface-level answer.

It really caught him by surprise.
This may have impacted the outcome of this interview for him.

Here’s a few considerations to help shape your answer:

1️⃣ Amplify: 
AI expands your capability not replace it.

Health example:
“I use AI to scan research papers faster and synthesise evidence-based insights, but clinical judgment still comes from me.”

SaaS example:
“I run product messaging through AI to test clarity and tone, which speeds up positioning work but I still make the final call.”

Tech example:
“I use AI to draft architecture rationales, then refine them based on constraints and stakeholder feasibility.”

2️⃣ Eliminate the Drag: 
AI removes the repetitive, manual, time-consuming work.

3️⃣ Systemise & Scale: 
AI helps you build repeatable workflows, frameworks, and processes.

4️⃣ Strengthen Decision-Making:
AI becomes a partner in analysis, not a substitute for judgment.

AI is now a lens through which employers may assess:
