5 Top tips for university going students!

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲.

Your CGPA matters. But it won't save you.

I've seen too many students do everything "right" attend classes, submit assignments, memorize slides and still feel completely lost after graduation.

After 10 years as CTO and now as CEO, here's what I wish every university student did earlier:

1. 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 10. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞.

Marketing, sales, video editing, design, coding, writing. Something people actually pay for.

Only 42.1% of employers screen GPAs in 2026 (down from 73.3% in 2019). But 69.5% use skills-based hiring.

2. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

"An internship is the single most important credential for recent college graduates" (Chronicle of Higher Education survey).

Students with experiential learning have higher career satisfaction and higher average salaries than those without.

3. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

A portfolio project. A freelance gig. A side project. Employers want to see what you can DO, not just what you studied.

67% of employers think GPA is important. But when asked what matters MORE? Internships and work experience win every time.

4. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐖.

13% of jobs require AI skills today. By 2027, that number triples. If you're not AI-fluent by graduation, you're already behind.

5. 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭. 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬.

61% of Class of 2026 students are pessimistic about the job market. They're competing for a 1.6% increase in hiring.
