Monitor the implementation of Peace Agreement plans agreed between the Government of Colombia and the former FARC-EP. Advise on solutions for conflict prevention, mediation, and crisis management related to security and the socio, political and economic policies, as well as the transitional justice and reconciliation process. Lead on innovation, change and support mission strategic planning. Support official meetings, events, and high-level visits. Draft briefings, background papers, talking points and speeches, with advocacy recommendations for Senior UN officials. 

Key Accomplishments and Achievements

•	Proposed and obtained approval for 25 peacebuilding projects using extrabudgetary funds, fostering public-private partnerships and capacity-building, offering a longer-term perspective within the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 2030) framework
• Collaborated with the Ministry of Environment and universities on a green fisheries project involving a sustainable electricity system. Succeeded in turning around the financing and administrative gaps creating a partnership to put the necessary maintenance and regulations in place to serve a rural population of 500,000 people.
•	Assisted the Chief of Operations in restructuring the Mission’s teams and functions in line with the SG Reforms 2017 to increase efficiency and transparency in the delivery of services. 
•	Applied and demonstrated best practices in verification strategies and reporting methodologies between Florencia and Medellín teams
•	Selected to train DPO and DPA staff in DDR planning in Sweden (2019). Built-up skills of 10 junior professional staff through mentoring and coaching.

Liaison Officer | Deputy Head of Office | Best Practices

Monitored the implementation of peace building plans across Colombia, focusing on enhancing human security. Advised senior Mission officials on performance management indicators to evaluate FARC members security guarantees and political and socioeconomic reintegration. Worked with the Ministry of Interior on community security policies and projects and with the Ministry of Defence on monitoring defence policies for the security sector reform. Liaised regularly with UN partners, NGOs, academia and CSOs to achieve mandated goals. Focal point for knowledge management and for information analysis on protection issues. Supervised 1 international UNV and 1 national staff.

•	Contributed to the UN joint effort and delivering as one by leading the Security Guarantees Group which comprised all UN agencies and international partners with a protection mandate 
•	Built effective partnerships with the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence which led to improved draft decrees to enhance community security and reconciliation at the local level 
•	Initiated and mobilized funds of $600K from UNHQ aimed at leadership development of 30 FARC-EP ex-commanders and social leaders supporting them with the peace narrative, community security and reintegration over 3 years
•	Acted on recommendations of the Office of Internal Oversight Services to improve information management and reporting by organizing the information flow from the 11 regional offices and building on evidence-based data through an IT platform that recorded data on security and protection 
•	Represented UNVMC at meetings and prepared analytical reports for the quarterly report of the Secretary-General to the UN Security Council, as well as situation reports, background papers and talking points

Liaison Officer | Policy Lead

Represented the Mission and facilitated political relations at the Tripartite Mechanism (UN, FARC-EP, Government) mandated to verify the ceasefire and disarmament process following the Final Peace Agreement. Liaised with national and local authorities, social organizations, and FARC-EP to enable disarmament monitoring. Took part in fact-finding missions, reported on challenges, and recommended possible policies, strategies, and other measures to advance objectives. Liaised with UN, EU and government counterparts on information-sharing, coordination, and policy. 

Key Accomplishments and Achievements

•	Enabled a transparent and engaged disarmament process in the cantonment of Mesetas (Meta) by constantly liaising with public authorities, communities, and civil society resulting in the highest number of weapons handed over, properly identified, stored, and destroyed in the country (500)
•	Worked closely with UN Military Officers to monitor verification of the ceasefire and demonstrated successful relationship approaches with indigenous communities and community protection
•	Proposed and influenced the mobilization of extrabudgetary funds to support small-scale community projects for early recovery, development, reconciliation and trust building  
•	Produced accurate and timely integrated analysis on regional peace process dynamics for Mission leadership that was informed by qualitative and quantitative data

Served as Deputy of the Chief DDR Unit within the Rule of Law and Security Institutions Group. Supported policies to counter violent extremism and contributed to the design and execution of the rehabilitation programme for Al Shabab disengaged youth. Led research and analysis on risks, threats, target group profiles, political factors, and security. Mobilized resources and developed strategic partnerships to strengthen cooperation and capacity-building of the Ministry of Internal Security. Provided guidance to UN and government officials. •	Trained Ministry of Internal Security staff in international human rights and DDR standards and assisted the set-up of 2 additional rehabilitation centres to support the implementation of the National Programme for Al Shabab disengaged combatants’ rehabilitation, which aimed to support 5,000 youth and minors Succeeded in lobbying for separate rehabilitation routes for under 18-year-olds and adults, and meanstream screenin criterias, to be more in line with international standards

Disarmament Demobilization Reintegration | Policy Officer

NATO - NRDC ITA

Assigned to the Knowledge Development cell to monitor political and security dynamics in NATO and EU countries with a view to supporting the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in enhancing its abilities in conflict prevention, preventive diplomacy, mediation, peace operations and crisis management. Holistically assessed the engagement space during the NRDC Eagle Joker 14 exercise that tested the Italian Command in a crisis management scenario.

Key Accomplishments and Achievements

•	Prepared in-depth analysis on strengthening the NATO-UN-EU partnership at strategic and operational levels, focusing on hybrid warfare, violent extremism, terrorism, and forms of non-traditional threats
•	Proposed solutions, actions, and consultations directly to the NRDC First Commander and Chief of Staff that covered the acquisition, integration, analysis and sharing of information and knowledge from military and civilian sources

Political Analyst

Supported UNAMID–UN Country Team (UNCT) joint initiatives concerning durable solutions and voluntary returns and reintegration in Darfur in accordance with the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. Monitored humanitarian and peace activities supporting conflict prevention and crisis management, working closely with the Protection Strategy Division Director. Represented UNAMID at cluster coordination meetings and prepared senior UN officials for UNCT, Humanitarian Team and principal donor meetings aiming to enhance humanitarian cooperation and coordination. 

Key Accomplishments and Achievements

•	Enabled smooth organization of the high-level Darfur Peace and Development Dialogues in Darfur by preparing productive agendas with the office of the Deputy SRSG, drafting quality briefings, & writing minutes
•	Increased visibility of UNAMID’s mandate and value to support humanitarian assistance through active communication to humanitarian actors and coordinating logistic support which led to more people of concern receiving needed support and UNAMID providing basic services in otherwise inaccessible areas
•	Contributed to the development of the 2014 Strategic Response Plan - Sudan to address the humanitarian needs of over 6 million people through objectives of saving lives, protection, resilience, and durable solutions

Humanitarian Affairs Officer

Provided technical advice for Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration (DDR), Community Security Arms Control and Community Violence Reduction (CVR) programmes. Designed and led communication strategies and public information tools. Contributed to monitoring and evaluation systems and building up an evidence base of DDR-related data. Researched and analysed risk and threat assessments, target group profiles and other issues affecting operations. Supported Mission leadership involved in mediation with Darfur rebel movements.

•	Played an integral role with the DDR team to define, set up and run 15 community-based labour-intensive projects across Darfur, each receiving a grant of US$50,000. The initiative received an award for innovation in peacekeeping and stabilization from the Secretary-General
•	Turned around an omission of the DDR public information budget by liaising with Mission units and stakeholders and succeeding in filling the gap through projects with common goals
•	Worked closely with UNDP to produce the DDR programme communication strategy and public information plan – both were endorsed by the DDR National Commission, Ministry of Defence, and the Vice Presidency
•	Mobilized around 1,000 people to help organize theatre activities, sports competitions, and storytelling

Disarmament Demobilization Reintegration Communications Officer

Organization of American States

Liaised with national, regional, and local authorities in Colombia to roll out the mandated objectives of the OAS Mission. Advised senior officials on strategies to monitor and evaluate the government-led Disarmament and the socio, political and economic reintegration of FARC members, as well as the transitional justice and reconciliation process. Monitored the peace agreement, the DDR process of non-state armed groups and criminal prosecutions of war crimes in Bogotá and Medellín areas. Managed the regional office, resources, and staff security. In addition, supported peacebuilding and justice initiatives along with drafting evidence-based reports and analyses.

Key Accomplishments and Achievements

•	Established the OAS regional office of Bucaramanga leading to improved coordination with regional authorities
•	Verified the disarmament and the destruction of weapons handed over by paramilitary groups by scrupulously monitoring the ballistic resistance of weapons and working with a governmental task force on proper examination
•	Developed alliances with the People Ombudsman at regional and local levels to implement an awareness campaign on transitional justice and foster community engagement.
•	Represented the Mission at the XXXVIII OAS General Assembly and the Chief of Mission in regional meetings
•	Influenced judicial authorities to provide psychological support to victims & their families during criminal proceedings

Coordination Officer | Team Leader Bucaramanga Office

Built and sustained partnerships with UNHCR and the Jesuit Service for Refugees to provide psychosocial assistance to Colombian refugees in Venezuela. Conducted a study on trans-border displacement, securing donor support to promote youth volunteerism. Designed and managed a pilot project to address the humanitarian situation at the borders of Colombia and Venezuela and the psychosocial needs of Colombian refugees in Venezuela.
