Hi, I’m Channing. My world revolves around building Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies that create success stories. 

With a knack for nurturing global teams and a flair for finessing GTM strategies, I’ve helped businesses, from active startups to seasoned giants, scale to new heights.

At the heart of my approach is a simple philosophy:

This philosophy powered my tenure at Brandwach, where I oversaw the return to growth, after several  years of declining revenues. 

At Semrush, where I championed the sales force to unprecedented growth and expansion into the enterprise space.

My journey has been marked by remarkable achievements, like fueling HubSpot’s meteoric rise from $200m to $1.5bn in revenue, and building the GTM frameworks that continue to drive success today. 

Whether it was steering Acquia’s sales, leading BuiltIn down a new strategic course, accelerating C2FO’s market presence, or contributing to S&P Capital IQ’s billion-dollar story, my focus has always been on crafting strategies that deliver.

Beyond the boardroom, you’ll find me in Boston’s serene suburbs, where family life with my wife, kids, and our dog provides the perfect counterbalance to my professional pursuits.

This week we are hosting the 2026 Product and Tech kickoff. Plenty of exciting features on the roadmap! However, one non-feature sticks out. We explained who we want to be. The social impact we want to have. 

We announced the Brevo Foundation, a commitment to support a small number of nonprofits doing important work. It is part of our 2030 strategy, not a side project. The goal is simple, use what we do best to help mission driven teams move faster and reach more people.

We will support a small set of organizations in four ways:

1. Technology and product support
2. Reporting and insights
3. Funding
4. Volunteering

The intent is clear, go beyond simply writing donation checks. Show up with time, talent, and tools, and hold ourselves accountable to social impact outcomes.

As we continue building the best customer platform for small and medium sized organizations, we will also focus on having a real social impact. We want to do more than build great software, we want to set a higher standard for how technology businesses show up in the world. Impact should be measured, not marketed. I am proud of the team for making this a priority.

I encourage all tech businesses to do something similar.

I get two questions very often: 1) Why did you join Brevo? 2) How do you seem to avoid jetlag? (I am in Europe a LOT these days). Let me explain both...

#𝟭 - 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼?
I continue to hear from our customers that they are getting squeezed for all sides. Competitor prices are going up, these same products are getting overly complex (but lack value), marketing goals are growing and budgets are shrinking.

A mid-sized customer signed up with our Enterprise offering on December 31st, switching from Klaviyo to Brevo. Klaviyo price was going up too fast but the features were not aligned. The customer had growing frustration around cost and ROI.

Another example, I spoke with one of our self-serve customers who recently signed up for Brevo earlier in December, switching from HubSpot. They told me that the HubSpot features were becoming overly complex and it was shifting into Salesforce territory: deeply capable, but increasingly complex and too "heavy" to operate.

And Mailchimp? Still simple, still approachable, but capped. It can’t grow with teams once their needs mature. 

What stands out to me isn’t just the churn due to feature gaps, it’s fatigue. Teams are tired of paying more to manage more complexity. Here is what I see:

Pretty simple 5 steps

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Dont drink alcohol or eat on your flight, eat before you take off
𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Ttake melatonin and use a breath right nose strip. Helps avoid waking up from dry mouth on the plane.
𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹: Get in a nice shower before heading to the office. If possible do some exercise as well. BTW, my friend told me The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) swears by this as well! 
𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: Stay up as late as possible. My simple rule is don't go back to your hotel room till at least 10pm.
𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Morning exercise, or at least brisk walk before work

Sales leaders often put quota crushers into people leader roles and wonder why the team stalls. The Peter Principle tells us that we maybe doing something wrong.

The job changes. Closing is not the same as coaching. Peter Principle research backs what many of us have felt, high individual performance does not always predict strong management. What matters is different, collaborative behavior, the ability to lift others, consistency in process, and judgment under uncertainty.

Organizations need to build parallel growth tracks, both for exceptional ICs and for managers, with different training, skill development and outcomes. When considering someone for leadership, it is important to look at signals in unified data. Do they bring others into deals, do their teammates’ numbers rise when they are on an account, do they run clean pipeline, do they give and receive coaching that changes behavior. It is less glamorous than celebrating a big win, but it compounds.

When looking for a great leader, it is critical to look at a mix of factors, not just prior performance. It is also critical to build learning tracks that go beyond the current role. Giving people the opportunity to learn how to move into their next desired role. 

This time of the year is often the time when new leadership roles open up. Finding the right leader is critical to growth, possibly one of the most important sales decisions. Lets do everything to get this right!

I was reading through Klaviyo’s 2026 predictions this week and couldn’t help reacting to a few of them. Some make sense, some feel familiar, and a few are being framed as future-looking when in truth, they've been here for a while now. 

Here's how I see it: 

𝟭. "𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁"
Didn’t this already happen? Copilot was a 2024 moment. 

To be a real prediction, I’d say that in 2026 AI moves beyond “copilot” status entirely. It becomes truly agentic, operating independently, and automating marketing processes end-to-end. 

𝟮. “𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆.”
This one tracks. The marketer’s role has already shifted toward orchestrating autonomous systems. 

𝟯. “𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”
This is old news. The U.S. is catching up. Personalization is no longer optional, it’s the expectation. The same thing goes for privacy. 

The real shift in 2026 is 𝙝𝙤𝙬 personalization works. It extends beyond content into channel and medium preference. People will expect to be marketed to in the way they prefer to communicate. Marketing systems need to work cross-channel to support this requirement.

𝟰. “𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆.”
This isn’t a prediction. It’s table stakes. Without unified data, marketing is just guessing. Unified data platforms are critical to managing ROI, personalization, cross channel campaigns and all other aspects of marketing. 

𝟱. “𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.”
The bigger shift is that short-form, interactive video will become ubiquitous. It is an expectation everywhere customers engage.

𝟲. “𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆.”
I like the thinking, but this isn’t bold. Customer loyalty and transparency are also just table stakes. 

A more bold position: loyalty marketing turns into customer advocacy marketing. Marketers will incentivize their customers to become brand promoters, offering them rewards and incentives.

𝟳. “𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”
I agree with this one. You can be highly personalized and still be irrelevant. 

𝟴. “𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀.”
This is already the case, which is kind of the point. Trust isn’t a 2026 unlock. It’s what determines whether AI, automation, personalization, and data actually work at scale. Without trust, none of the predictions above matter.


That’s my read. Feel free to push back or add to it.

It is the time of the year to be be bold, build new strategies, set ambitions goals. “Refounding” has become a popular term.  It sounds bold...But it often signals signs of amnesia and doesnt work. I recommend learn and adapt.

Refounding is when you bring in a new leader, declare a fresh start. We are "refounding the business!". Refounding should be rare. You only start over when you have truly lost your way. Most companies do not need a reset, they just need to remember, and adapt. 

Remember...What was the problem you solved first? Who were the customers who trusted you early? What made you hard to copy? 

Then you build on those roots with discipline.

Airtable, Lattice and MoneyGram (along with many others) have all said that they are "refounding" the business to be AI first.  I dont think it will work.  However, they should learn and adapt.  They need to build AI into their products and processes.  A full rebuild is hard to pull off.   But adaptation is key. 

As business strategy evolves I recommend you stick with your first principles, but adapt.  To do so:
- Write down the three non negotiables that define the business.
- Talk to ten customers this month and ask why they still choose you.
- Prune anything that drifts from that center, projects, metrics, even meetings. 

Evolve the how, protect the why.

At Brevo, our filter is straightforward. We ask, does this XX (new product feature, process etc) make customer engagement simpler and more effective?  If yes, we double down. If not, we push it out. We are not trying to refound, we are trying to compound.

Businesses do not need a refounding as much as they need a remembering. Remember what has worked well, and adapt.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿. 

Most enterprise stacks weren't designed. They 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥.
A CRM from 2018. A CDP from 2021. A loyalty platform from 2023.
Glued together by middleware and hope.

We measure the cost in license fees.
But the real cost is the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝘅.

Every pipe between tools creates Operational Drag:
🐢 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝘅: Inventory runs out while Marketing waits for the data sync.
🧩 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘅: A VIP gets a generic "Welcome" offer because Loyalty didn't talk to Email fast enough.
🙈 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝘅: You can't trust attribution because "Active User" means three different things in three dashboards.

In Retail and Media, where margins are thin and speed is survival, you cannot afford a 30% tax on execution.

The shift for 2026 isn't "Best of Breed." It's 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
Because a unified platform that executes in real-time beats a "perfect" fragmented stack that executes tomorrow.

If you can't trigger a message based on a website visit in under 𝟲𝟬 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀, your Integration Tax is too high ⚠️
