I lead the CP Digital business that supports clients across their Salesforce, NetSuite, Analytics & Cybersecurity needs. Responsibilities include all M&A & growth, in line with our vision alongside Lee Equity Partners. 

I also lead market activity for CP in the Venture Capital ecosystem. 

Our specialist team works with Founders, CFOs and Boards of early stage, scale-up and high growth businesses, navigating challenges spanning accounting, finance, tax, audit, technology, and deal support. 

We are highly active in the scale-up ecosystem and have worked as the accounting partner for leading organisations and communities whilst also building our own community platforms, TechCFO and VentureCEO.

Having started my career at PwC, I went to on to establish and build a successful early stage focussed firm, Acclivity Advisors (which was acquired by Cooper Parry in Jan’23).

Along the way, I wrote the best selling book 'The Finance Playbook for Entrepreneurs', so that entrepreneurs of ALL backgrounds could benefit from the very best teachings.  

My unique experiences and skills have afforded me a number of Board positions across industries within public & private sectors. 

At present, these include:

My first visit to SF in 2016 was pivotal to building Sideways 6. It opened my eyes to the scale of ambition in the tech world and made me think bigger. 

In the years since, we grew and exited, I became a Dad, and I've chosen Health, Performance and Relationships as the spaces I want to compound my career in for the next few decades.

So it's really exciting to be back in the Bay Area next month for the inaugural Stanford Consumer Health Summit from Zach Teiger and Stanford Healthcare Innovation Lab. Super strong guest list and interesting themes including consumer-led health outside of traditional systems, performance, healthspan and mental and social wellbeing.

Controversially, I record every doctor appointment now. Here's why:

5 years navigating the NHS and thousands of pounds on tests, private appointments and potions for a chronic health issue has convinced me of 3 things:
1. We are each responsible for our own health results
2. We should all be using AI as a personal health sidekick
3. We should record all our interactions with doctors 

I've driven hours for tests only to be told on arrival they're unnecessary. Waited 9 months for a specialist, turned up full of hope, and been told they're not the right person. Spent £300 on a worse than useless 10-minute private appointment

The NHS is under huge pressure. Excellent people within it are overworked. Joined-up care with deep personal insight isn't available within the public system for most of us.

It's on us to take our care into our own hands.

I've given Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT full context on me - medical history, symptom diaries, blood tests. I record appointments, transcribe them, paste them in. They've become my guides through the system.

It's working. Late last year with some help from an appointment transcription, Gemini spotted a correlation in my symptoms and environment and suggested an experiment to confirm a possible cause. LLMs help me prepare for appointments with better questions. 

Plus, they're available 24/7 with deep context and no wait times.

One ENT surgeon scoffed that I was "another person using doctor Google." Other doctors have been far more positive. 

The pitfalls are real but manageable: think first, AI second, think third. Use LLMs with practitioners, not instead of them. Be critical of the results. It's you, the healthcare system and AI vs the problem. It's not you vs the healthcare system.

This is where healthcare is heading. It'll get easier as companies like Apple and OpenAI bet big on healthcare - but it's already possible. Record your doctor.
