Open Robotics

At Open Robotics, I was the "ROS Boss" of the Humble (LTS) release of ROS 2. This involved extensive collaboration with various stakeholders and the development of new infrastructure to streamline the release process.

To address a need in the testing process, I designed and implemented a Test Case Manager tool in Typescript. This tool automates the creation of test cases for different platform permutations and has been employed in several key releases, including ROS 2 Humble, ROS 2 Iron, and Gazebo Garden.

In addition to these responsibilities, I worked on various other projects that required a wide range of technical skills. These included debugging multithreaded executor issues, designing C++ client library features for Nvidia, contributing to NASA's VIPER mission, and integrating different UAV frameworks under a common API.

Robohub

As the Podcast Director at Robohub, I managed an international team and conducted over 100 interviews with key figures in the robotics field. The variety of our interviewees, from academics to industry leaders, allowed us to present a comprehensive view of the sector.

I led the team in expanding our podcast's monthly listenership from 2k to 120k and secured $20k in academic sponsorships. This growth and financial support helped to sustain our operations and extend our reach.

During my tenure, we produced and released 160 podcast episodes. This consistent output, combined with our increased listenership and financial support, illustrates my focus on steady growth and commitment to sharing knowledge in the robotics community.

ICT Netherlands, part of the ICT Group, is a leading provider of total solutions for industrial automation. One of their main domains of activity is the Automotive sector, the organization working with many different car companies for their innovation in infotainment systems and driving assistance.

For my Graduation Internship, I got to help their Automotive and Mobility department to gather more knowledge in the field of autonomous driving by using robotics and deep learning techniques for computer vision detection.

During this project, I researched the field of development for autonomous driving using the Robot Operating System (ROS) and deep learning analysis, as well as developing a prototype service, which controls a TurtleBot3 robot equipped with a Raspberry Pi 4 controller and a camera, to receive and process live images for object detection using neural networks.

The project was conducted in a research-oriented manner, hence a lot of documentation was provided to the client for the features needed and developed, plus a comparison from the hardware perspective for the deep learning processing to take place (Raspberry Pi 4 base vs Raspberry Pi 4 + Google Coral Accelerator).

Working with ROS2 (Robot Operating System) along with Navigation Vision algorithms to create an autonomous driving robot (TurtleBot3) that is able to detect objects in front of him.

After the internship, I continued working as a part-time Software Developer in the same R&D group, developing the previously created features, as well as helping with the transition of their old device backend application into a new C# Windows service focused on simplifying the overall flow of events for managing the device activities while performing an experiment.

One of my main features developed was regarding the image upload to the cloud database as well as a improved preview feature for the device experiment.

Software Developer

CytoSMART is an innovation company in the development of kinetic live-cell imaging, which creates fast imaging hardware with powerful image analysis algorithms supported by cloud computing.

During my internship with them, I got the chance to help improving the backend service of one of their most powerful devices. For that I had to create a C# API which was added to their original WPF application and which allows the device to be controlled remotely. This was done by creating a new way of communication between the backend service and frontend interface.

Besides the desired feature to control the device remotely, I also conducted research and spikes of newly desired features for the same device, which concluded in the further development of them for their future releases.

I am a very passionate person when it comes to technology advancement and I am open-minded when it comes to taking new challenges in which I can use my skills for innovation. I enjoy working in a team and to help in creating new systems that help the others.

I am experienced in backend development, either C# applications or low-level embedded programming using C or C++, as well as robotics using ROS (Python). My true passion was discovered during the end of my university years by expanding my knowledge in the field of Data Science in which I worked with Machine Learning, Deep Learning and overall data analysis using Python.

Some of other skills I have and consider important are researching and the documentation of the products I work on.
