I have been working in the entertainment business for the past 20 years ranging from documentaries to graphic novels to feature films to community building. Currently I am writing for Marvel Comics while producing projects with my creative partner, Taboo, under our SkyView Way Studios banner. We have projects currently set up with Cartoon Network and Gaumont. 

I am also heavily involved in the blockchain space, using NFTs as storytelling nodes for both community and world-building. The current project I am running and creating is called Chiwawows (www.chiwawows.com) which is built on the Solana Blockchain. I have two other story-driven NFT projects in development called Realms of Avalon and Angryfoot.

My focus is to create multi-media experiences in entertainment using new and emerging technologies that engage communities into creative activity. 

Having founded the largest comic book club in LA in 2008 called COMIC BOOK SUNDAY! (CBS!), with members around the globe, my finger is on the pulse of what is trending across the board and my access to those creators is unparalleled.

My debut novel, "Tough Love" was released in February 2018.  With minimal exposure via social media, it has sold in countries around the globe.  As a speaker, I take the opportunity to share parts of my journey with others in an effort to inspire others.  I have found that by being raw and honest, or "unsugarcoated," I am able to give others hope and remind them that there is always hope in the dark.   My latest novel, "Jugend", released March 31, 2019 has since won three awards in multicultural fiction. I'm Aalia Lanius – an award-winning novelist, executive producer, and human rights advocate who believes artists have both the power and responsibility to shape society through authentic storytelling.

My journey from independence at just 14 years old to founding my first company by 25 taught me that resilience writes its own rules. As an Honors graduate in International Business and Entrepreneurship (with a stint in law school), I've built a career at the intersection of creativity, media, and social impact.

I've worked with celebrities, bright minds and people from across multiple sectors. I worked in healthcare, entertainment, retail and can talk B2B, B2C, and almost any area of business that you can speak to, most especially leadership and the realities pertaining to it. 

In 2018, I founded UNSUGARCOATED Media, a 501c3 entity that produces documentaries, podcasts and events amplifying voices of resilience. Our award-nominated show "UNSUGARCOATED with Aalia" continues to reach audiences in 70+ countries as a platform for raw, empowering conversations. The upcoming production is on hold, but will resume in 2025.

As a Certified Human Rights Advocate, with a focus on child protection, and a Strategic AI Program Advisor at Southwestern Law School, I'm passionate about where technology meets justice. I also serve as Chief Creative Officer at Convergence Media Law, where we're creating more equitable opportunities in entertainment.

Being named one of Feedspot's Top Human Rights Influencers (2025) and serving as USA Country Chair for the G100 Club's Media Arts Sector are honors that fuel my commitment to advocacy. Through my column in AwareNow Magazine and global speaking engagements, I continue breaking stereotypes as a multicultural woman in leadership.
