But AI can’t build trust, credibility, and relationships.

	1.	You haven’t updated your LinkedIn in 6+ months

I thought a strong results, and internal credibility
meant I was safe.

I thought staying quiet was “professional.”

Then I watched restructurings wipe out people with 20+ years of experience.
AI accelerate faster than job titles.
And brilliant leaders become “redundant” overnight.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Invisibility feels safe until it becomes your biggest risk.

Most leaders hit by restructuring aren’t weak performers.
They’re strong operators with zero external positioning.

Inside the company: respected.
Outside the company: unknown.

And if your value disappears the moment your corporate email does,
that’s not stability.

That’s fragility.

The leaders who will survive what’s coming
aren’t louder, younger, or trendier.

They’re visible before they need to be.

Sit with that.
Then rethink how you’re positioning yourselfwhile you still have the choice.

Most people ignore “feeling invisible at work.”

They think: “It’s fine. I’m still getting my paycheck.”

But in 6 months, that turns into:

	•	Being passed over for promotions
	•	Being “too expensive” during restructuring
	•	Being eliminated because “no one knows what you do”

Are you ignoring it?

Because the cost of staying invisible is higher than the cost of building visibility.

It’s About Not Putting Your Head in the Sand.
One line in this conversation stopped me cold.

Jamie Dimon doesn’t dramatize AI.
He doesn’t soften it either.
He says it plainly:
“Don’t put your head in the sand.”
That sentence alone is a career warning.

Because when asked whether AI will wipe out jobs, he doesn’t hedge:
“Will it eliminate jobs? Yes.
 Will it change jobs? Yes.
 Will it add some jobs? Probably.”

This isn’t panic.
This is realism.

And then comes the line every professional should sit with:
“You can hope for the world you want, but you’re going to get the world you got.”

Hope is not an employability strategy.
What matters now is how fast change happens, and whether people are ready for it.

Dimon makes a critical distinction most career conversations miss:
The danger isn’t AI itself — it’s speed without preparation.
“If it goes too fast for society… that’s where government and business need to step in together.”

Retraining.
Relocation.
Income support.
Phasing change instead of detonating it.

His example is blunt:
“You can’t lay off two million truckers tomorrow.
 You phase it in. You retrain.”

Now zoom out and make this personal.
This is no longer just a policy issue.
It’s a career design issue.

Because a few minutes later, he’s asked the question everyone avoids:
“In five years’ time, will JP Morgan have fewer employees than it has now?”

His answer:
“My guess is there’ll be fewer employees.”
Not no employees.
Fewer.

Which means employability is shifting from:
role ownership → value ownership
job security → skill mobility
experience alone → adaptable relevance

AI won’t replace professionals.
It will replace professionals who can’t clearly explain why they still matter.

Career longevity now belongs to those who:
Reposition early
Learn continuously
And stop waiting for certainty before acting

Because as Dimon puts it:
“You’re not going to slow it down.”

The question is not if your work changes.
It’s whether you change before the market decides for you.

He called me into his office.

Calm voice. But eyes cold. Too calm.

The words came like a slap.

"You’re really going to leave... 𝐧𝐨𝐰?"

We were in the thick of the 2008 financial crisis.

Layoffs everywhere. Markets crashing. Uncertainty ruling.

I had just gotten an offer. The kind of leap that could change my career. Higher position. Global visibility.

But he wasn’t happy.

“You’re making a mistake,” he said.
“The timing is wrong.”
“This won’t end well for you.”

I froze.

This was the same boss who used to praise my leadership.
The same man who told others “We couldn’t function without her.”

So why the sudden resistance?

Because he meant it literally.

They couldn’t function without me.
And that wasn’t a compliment.

It was a trap.

I wasn’t just a high performer.
I was a 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

And when you’re too good?

You become too costly to replace.

And when you try to leave?

It threatens the system they built around your silent high-performance.

Still, I said yes to the offer.
Still, I left.

And a few weeks later, I found out he had written:

“She’s good. But too strong-headed.”

That’s what he sent to my new employer.

And honestly?

I smiled. (every time I remember I do :)

Because in that sentence, he told the truth.

I 𝐚𝐦 strong-headed.

I fight for what I believe in.

I back myself even when no one else claps.

And I make the hard choices no one else dares to make.

He tried to make it sound like a flaw.

But it’s the reason I lead today.

Not with ego.

But with deep, tested, unshakable confidence.

So, to that boss: No grudges. Just gratitude.

Because that chapter taught me the most important leadership lesson of my life:

In 2017, I was invited to a meditation group in Riyadh.

It was hosted by a senior woman in my industry.

Twelve of us around the table.

“What if I don’t fit in?”

You’ll start asking for promotions.

you’ll always be paid like you’re replaceable.

But here’s what most people miss:

Leverage is useless if the market can’t 𝐬𝐞𝐞 it.

You can have depth, wisdom, and capability —
and still be invisible.

That’s where positioning matters.

Consider this a wake-up call. Not a stat:

92% never reach the goals they set in Dec (aka just a couple of weeks ago)


Why?


Because they never decided they want it. No kidding.


People don’t fail because they lack skills. Grit. Or degrees.

They fail because you didn’t make a 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 choice.


A goal without a choice is just a wish.

You wished for that raise.

You worked hard. Stayed late. Took more load.

Then watched someone else get it.

They weren’t better.

They just knew the one thing you didn’t:


𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨.


It’s not fair, but it’s true.

You rise when you are seen.

You grow when you are known.

You win when you learn 𝐡𝐨𝐰 to be seen.

And if that voice in your head whispers:
“I’m not the type to stand out…”

You just met your enemy.

Not your boss. Not your job.

Your own voice.


The fix?


If you really want it. 
Shift the voice.
Make the choice. Deliberate. Intentional.

Not someday. 𝐍𝐨𝐰.


📌 P.S. Don’t just set goals this year.
Decide if you truly truly want it.

I must admit.

I still cringe when someone says "Born leader." 

Because I wasn’t.

I was born the last in a big family.

And in a big family, you learn something early:

Adults are busy doing their complicated lives.

So nobody sits you down and “builds your confidence.”

Nobody hands you a leadership script.

You either shrink…

Or you quietly start teaching yourself who you want to become.

That’s what I did.

One habit at a time.

Because neuroscience is clear about one thing:

Your brain isn’t fixed.

It rewires around what you repeat.

So I stopped waiting for a personality upgrade…

And started giving my brain new evidence (of course, back then I has no idea what I was doing ).

Here are the 5 habits that turned me into a leader (when I had zero “born leader” energy):

1. 𝐈 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐲.
  
The tiny moments.
The shrink.
The self-sabotage.
The hesitation before owning what I wanted.

I started writing those moments down because they were data.

They showed me the old program running my decisions.

And awareness is where rewiring starts.


2. 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
 
 I didn’t try to “think positive.” I got disciplined.

When my mind said: “You’re not ready.”
I practiced a new line on repeat: “I'll figure things out.”

I had absolutely no idea "HOW." 

but paired that line with feeling: steady. calm. possible.

Today: we know the subconscious learns through repetition paired with emotion.


3. 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲.
  
Leadership isn’t a title. It’s self-trust.

So I started keeping small promises to myself.

One boundary.
One difficult conversation.
One decision made without outsourcing it to someone else.

Small actions became evidence.

And evidence is what makes confidence feel real.


4. 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫.

  Not affirmations. Rehearsal.

I’d picture the version of me who speaks calmly, 

sets the tone, decides without apologizing.

My brain learned the pattern before my life caught up.


5. 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 “𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩”

This one changed everything.

Because you can’t lead well when your body is stuck in survival mode.

So I built little moments of calm into my day.

Breath.
Silence.
A walk.
Gratitude.

When my body felt safe, my mind finally became open to change.

That’s the part nobody tells you about leadership.

It’s not something you’re born with.

It’s something you build.

Quietly.
Repetitively.

Until one day people start calling you a leader…

And you remember exactly how many nights it took to become one.

So I learned to lean into the unknown.
↳ To trust myself in new rooms.

To listen.
To bend.
To shift.

And I saw this truth:

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐰.


Isn’t that what real leadership is?

Not just being strong.

But knowing when to release.

So I’ll ask you this:

What did you let go of lately?
And what did it make room for?

A final isn’t always lost on a goal.

Sometimes, it’s lost on 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

On Sunday, in the AFCON final, VAR awards a late penalty.

Tension explodes. Senegal walk off the pitch.

And then… one detail changes everything:

𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐧é 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 “𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭.” 𝐇𝐞 “𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬.”

He goes to get his teammates. He brings them back.

After long minutes, the match resumes.

Mendy saves the penalty.

And Senegal win in extra time. 

Here’s the (brutal) leadership lesson:


1- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬.

    𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭.


Reaction = emotion → impulse → damage.
Response = clarity → decision → result.

And no, this isn’t about “being nice” or “being calm just to be calm.”

It’s understanding one thing: 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐞. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞.


2- Your “VAR moment” at work looks like this:

* a sharp email (that hits your ego)

* an injustice (that makes you want to burn everything down)

* a tense meeting (where you want to be right, not win)

* an HR decision (that makes you want to slam the door)

If you decide in the heat of emotion, you hand the steering wheel to your survival system.

And survival doesn’t build a career. It only protects it (small).


3- The champions’ protocol (10 seconds)

Keep it simple. Keep it powerful.

1. 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏 (don’t reply immediately)

2. 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄 (one slow breath = you get your brain back)

3. 𝐀𝐒𝐊: “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 30 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 30 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬?”

4. 𝐀𝐂𝐓: one clean sentence / one clean move (not an explosion)

That’s what differentiates you.

Not your talent. Not your CV.

Your ability to stay fair… when you feel wronged.

Question:

Leaders care about things like money, time, risk, and reputation.
Say: “This saves 20% time” instead of “This might help.”

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫?

I stayed loyal to an identity that made me easy to work with.

I was “the dependable one.”

The one who’d jump in.

The one who’d smooth things over.

The one who’d take the extra task, the last-minute trip out of pocket

and somehow make it look effortless.

And for a while… that identity paid.

People trusted me.
People praised me.
People leaned on me.

But they didn’t 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 me.

Because “the reliable one” is a role.

Not a seat.

My leadership didn’t stall because I lacked skill.

Forget About Waste. Do This Instead.

On my LinkedIn banner, it says:
“I don’t teach careers. I record them.”

Let me tell you why I said that.

Take the example of Director position. It can show up as “luck.”
less so as an identity that became 𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.

And when it lands, people call it “perfect timing”…
or “she manifested it.”

What they’re really fail to see is all the career recording -quietly- happening long before it looked impressive.

For the first time, here are the pillars.

This is the story of Zeineb.

She came to me “fine” on paper.
Good Multinational. Good pay. Good reputation.

But inside?

She was going nowhere.

Not because she wasn’t talented.

Because she was stuck in the identity the workplace loves to keep in corner desks:

The executor.

Trusted to deliver.
Not trusted to decide.

So she kept getting more tasks…
not more power.

She fixed what others broke.
Saved projects last minute.
Carried the emotional labor.

Then watched other people take the seats she deserved.

She said:
“I feel invisible.”

What she meant:

If your nervous system isn’t safe with authority, you will:

* shrink in the room

And no amount of competence fixes that.

More “we need your opinion.”
More "please join us in the boardroom".
More "can you step in and represent our company".

That’s what people call “manifestation.”

I call it 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲.

If you want the Director seat, stop asking:
“What else should I do?”

Ask:
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐦 𝐈 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 -𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲- 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠?

Because the room is already responding.

Her Truth About "Manifesting" The Director Position

Imposter syndrome isn’t a feeling.

It’s a 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 dressed up as “being responsible.”

And it hits the smartest women the hardest because you’re trained to be PPAP:

* prepared
* precise
* approved
* perfect

But leadership doesn’t reward perfect.

It rewards 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞.

So here are the 10 “delay lies” your brain uses… and the 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that break the loop (fast):

1. “I just need a little more time.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Pick the decision you’re avoiding and lock it into a sentence:
  “By Friday 5 PM, I decide on X.”
  (Then tell 1 person so you can’t escape.)

2. “I want to plan everything before I move.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Stop planning like you’re building a spaceship.
  Write a 3-line plan only:
  Goal / First step / When I start.
  If it needs more than 3 lines, it’s procrastination.

3. “I need one more certification before I’m ready.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Ask: “What proof would a leader show instead?”
  Then create proof in 48 hours:

-book a stakeholder coffee chat
-volunteer to present 5 minutes in a meeting
-propose a small improvement and own it

4. “Let me wait until things calm down.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Assume they won’t.
  Pick ONE move that works in chaos:
  Send the message. Submit the application. Request the meeting.
  (Not the whole life restructure.)

5. “I don’t want to make the wrong move.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Make it reversible.
  Decide on a TEST, not a forever choice:
  “I’ll try this approach for 2 weeks, then review.”
  Leaders don’t guess. They run experiments.

6. “I need everyone to approve first.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Identify the ONE decision-maker who matters.
  Write a 2-sentence pitch:
  Problem + your recommended action.
  Approval follows clarity. Not consensus.

7. “I’m not confident enough yet.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Borrow confidence from structure.
  Walk into your next meeting with:

1 point you will say
1 question you will ask
1 boundary you will hold

 Confidence isn’t a mood. It’s a plan.

8. “I’ll decide after I get more clarity.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Clarity comes from movement, not thinking.
  Ask yourself: “What’s the smallest action that would give me new data by tomorrow?”
  Then do only that.

9. “If it was meant for me, it would feel easy.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Replace that belief with a leadership truth:
  “If it matters, it will stretch me." 
  Write the fear in one line, then write the counter-skill you need.
  Fear = skill gap. Fill the gap.

10. “I’ll do it when I feel ready.”
  𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: Pick a start condition that isn’t emotional:
  “I start when the calendar says Tuesday 9:00 am.”
  Feelings are unreliable. Schedules aren’t.

If you’re stuck right now, don’t “think harder.”

Pick 𝐨𝐧𝐞 of the actions above and do it in the next 10 minutes.

but because you’re preparing for a level you’re already operating at.

This is where many high-performing women get trapped.

They keep asking:
“What do I still need to learn?”
Instead of asking:
“What am I still positioning myself as?”

And certainty doesn’t come from accumulating more.

It comes from clearly owning what you already know — and how you lead.

I must admit. I used to hate mornings.

Not because I wasn’t ambitious.

But because I was always behind before the day even started.

"Urgent" text messages. Kids. Notifications. Emails. Boss requests. Self-doubt.

My brain felt like a war zone by 8AM.

And still, I’d scroll, not start.

Not everyone deserves your story.

“60% fixed” speaks louder than rumors.
