I brought 48 visitors to BNI.

But the room never grew

Most people think bringing visitors is the hard part.

It’s not.

I had a system. 
I followed it every week. 
And it worked — really well.

But the problem wasn’t the room. 
The problem was the offer.

Go to weekly meetings or be marked absent. 
Be accountable for things you don't want to do. 
Stick to a formula that only works if everyone does it.

And no matter how many people I invited… 
no matter how good I became at it…

The offer was ultimately flawed.

Most people never realise this because they don’t invite visitors consistently enough to see the pattern.

I needed a better way to grow my network.

So I left.

Matt Lakajev asked me, “WTF happened?”

I told him straight: 
“BNI was a waste of f*cking time for me.
Your 7 Figure Creator program is my BNI now.”

I go every week because it’s full of driven business owners with high energy that take action.

So I showed up every week. 
And using what I learned there, 
I created a networking event called

But we make it easy by

- warmly introducing them 
- putting out an insane amount of food
- keeping the drinks flowing
  
So conversations happen naturally.    
  
We only interrupted people once to say a few words 
and hand out lucky door prizes

When I actually went to one of these “clubhouses”, 
it felt exactly like this DM:
 
Generic. 
Corporate.
Pretentious.
 
I was shocked.
 
Half the room wasn’t doing the numbers in the pitch. 
The truth is that bigger businesses need their own space.
 
Talk about “flash” but no “bang.”
 
This is what happens when networking tries to be a private members club but ends up being a WeWork with wine.

My career in finance began when I was 19

At the end of month, we'd go for drinks

I didn't know anyone before I started working there, 
it was a big company with 100+ staff
and I was just a kid from Guildford.

When everyone was in the office, 
they were dressed in suits, 
moving with purpose 

Just talking to someone seemed scary.

But what I found was
after work and a few drinks,
people became more approachable.

This is how I first started networking. 

It was a great way to build relationships.
within a few months, I made lots of friends.

By 26, I'd worked for 3 Fortune 500 companies
and was assigned to my first global project.

This wasn't by accident.

It's the power of networking and building strong relationships. 

Now almost 20 years later...
 
I help business owners build relationships the same way.

We have 50+ people coming to drinks today.

I'm super f*cking pumped about the weather
I can't wait to crack a few cold ones
and meet with a bunch of legends

Over 3,000 people wasted their day yesterday…

Sitting in an audience, facing a stage.
 
It breaks my heart as an entrepreneur 
knowing thousands of hours of productivity 
just got flushed down the f*cking toilet.
 
What a waste.
 
That’s not growth. 
That’s not networking. 
That’s not business development.

Selling stuff.
 
But most people avoid that 
because selling is uncomfortable 
and you can only do it by yourself.

Sitting amongst friends feels safe.
but crowds create comfort. 
conversations create growth.

In January 2024, I asked Ivan Misner
 
What’s the record for visitor inviting?

I wanted to beat it — and double it.
 
He replied almost instantly.
and he told me something I’ll never forget:
 
“𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆.”  

When he opened chapters, 
he said he cared less about how many people came, 
but how many would sign up as referral partners.
 
It was food for thought.
 
I respected it.  
I thanked him.  
And at the time, I believed it.
 
But that year, something became very clear:  
You don’t get quality without quantity.
 
In business, you need to get in front of as many people as possible to:
 
Grow as a person.  
Grow your network.  
Grow your business.
 
So when I launched my own events,  
I used the same inviting system I built at BNI…
 
But changed the type of event to invite them to 
and everything changed.
 
The room was bigger.  
The energy was higher.  
People relaxed faster.  
The conversations were better.
 
And the “quality”? 

It went up. 

Because quantity creates:

- Energy 
- Social proof  
- Opportunity 

People have a greater chance of meeting someone they can work with.
 
In one night…  
60+ people showed up.  
More than an entire year of BNI visitors.
 
Not because I chased numbers.  

But because:
 
More people = more conversations.  
More conversations = more opportunities.  
More opportunities = more genuine connection.
 
Quality doesn’t replace quantity.  
Quality comes from quantity.

C.U.B. = Cashed Up Bogan.
 
You know the vibe.
 
Lots of flexing.  
Lots of posing.  
Lots of BS.
 
That “look at me” energy.
 
Some people call it networking.
I call it a fashion parade with name tags.
 
Real networking isn’t about  

Fancy watches
Fancy outfits
Fancy things

Or carefully curated photos to make the room look bigger.

I can't stand that sh*t.

Real networking is just…
people talking to people.
 
A good drink.  
A good vibe.
 
No ego.  
No pressure.  
No peacocking.
 
Because you can either impress people…  
or you can connect with them.
 
You can’t do both at the same time.

People are sick of it.
