I have directed three independent cancer institutes, collectively representing 17 hospitals and 12 cancer centers.  I am a hematologist and medical oncologist who has been the institutional principal investigator on nearly 100 clinical trials involving breast cancer, myeloma, prostate cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, myelodysplastic syndrome, CLL, DLBCL, esophageal cancer, etc.  I was on three papers published in The New England Journal of Medicine (prostate cancer, chronic neutrophilic leukemia, lung cancer) and two in Lancet (Shingles vaccine and head and neck cancer).  I am board certified in hematology, medical oncology, internal medicine, and artificial intelligence in medicine.

I resisted the trend towards subspecialization in my career as I feel ideation often happens at the level of the forest, not the trees.  Many of the greatest future innovations will be at the interface of various disciplines. 

My area of clinical expertise is precision medicine, and my ability to treat patients in all hematology/medical oncology disciplines uniquely positions me to sequence molecular-based therapies in the context of conventional therapy and clinical trials.

I am the CEO and Founder of three companies:  CancerClarity, CancerLight, and Revolution Cancer Medical Care PLLC.  We are early in our development as we hope to disrupt the clinical trial, patient education, and clinical care forums.  Aside from building my two companies, I am a consulting medical director for 2 phase 1 Xbiotech clinical trials (pancreatic cancer), consult for numerous other pharmaceutical companies, and see patients full-time in the clinic as a hematologist/medical oncologist.  I recently turned down several high-visibility positions to pursue my vision.

My singular focus is to help as many people as I can in the shortest time frame possible.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Currently, I work as a Research Fellow at the SENAI Institute of Electrochemistry Innovation in Curitiba, Brazil, where I develop electrochemical biosensors for bacterial detection. My responsibilities include utilizing assays based on aptamers and antibodies, analyzing interactions between biosensors and different bacterial species, and manufacturing and modifying screen-printed carbon electrodes to enhance sensor specificity. I employ techniques such as PCR, qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, and magnetic particle separation.

I hold a master's degree in Chemistry with a focus on Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), where I gained experience in synthetic organic chemistry, designing synthetic routes for bioactive molecules and molecular hybrids. I also possess knowledge in organic analysis techniques such as GCMS, LCMS, NMR, FTIR, and UV-Vis, enabling precise identification and characterization of synthesized products. Notably, I contributed to a research project involving the synthesis of molecular hybrids with inhibitory activity against the main protein of SARS-CoV-2 and the enzyme acetylcholinesterase.

Furthermore, I have experience as a Teaching Assistant at UFSC, where I conducted practical courses in organic chemistry for pharmacy and chemical engineering students. This experience sparked my passion for teaching and academic guidance, encouraging students to develop a strong foundation in the subject.

During my undergraduate studies at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), I served as an undergraduate research fellow, participating in research groups dedicated to the synthesis of bioactive compounds. I employed advanced organic analysis techniques such as GCMS, LCMS, NMR, FTIR, and UV-Vis, contributing to the development of novel compounds with therapeutic potential.

I hold English proficiency certificates, including the EF SET English Certificate (73/100 - C2 Proficient) and the TOEFL IBT (86/120), facilitating my communication and participation in international scientific activities.
