My friend got in trouble with her manager for giving feedback. 

I'll never forget because I was on the call. 

After the meeting, her lead told her to immediately jump on a private call. 

The manager reprimanded my friend for giving her that feedback in front of the whole group. 

And also made it clear that all feedback should only come from him - since he leads the team.

After that, nobody felt safe bringing anything up to this manager ever again. 

A few months later, my friend left the company for a better role.

I'll never forget the first real mentor I had.

He referred me for a role that I had no idea about.

Every chance he got, he would nominate me for opportunities.

So as soon as I became I lead, I took the same approach.

Because that's what great leaders do:

Try to get you into rooms you don't know exist.

I bought my mom a car two years ago.

It's a promise I made to her when I was 14 because I knew she loved cars.

And it was one of the most fulfilling moments of my entire life. 

I love building my businesses and my audience. 

But what I'm really passionate about is:

→ Taking good care of my mom
→ Paying my brother's college tuition
→ Taking my dad to watch Arsenal live
→ Traveling around Europe with my sister

Getting the most out of life with the people I love the most. 

A job is a means to an end. 

So is creating a personal brand.

And so is building a profitable business. 

Don't get carried away comparing yourself to people trying to look successful. 

Write down your own definition of success.

Then pursue it relentlessly with everything you've got.

So many people lose sight of why they started in the first place. 

→ Missing birthdays to close "important" deals
→ Ignoring your family because you're "busy" with a client
→ Not sleeping and eating well because you have "a lot of work" to do

You did not start that dream job or business just to make money.

You started it so that you can be free to make the most of your life. 

Money is the means. 

Freedom is the goal. 

Remember your priorities.

Last year, I spoke to a guy who quit his $130k job to be an entrepreneur. 

I told him this was a terrible idea. 

He said he had found a business online that would make him rich. 

The truth is that he was probably right. 

But the problem was that he had never even tried to run a business before. 

So he spent a few months "working on the branding". 

And then hired someone to "help shape the go-to-market strategy."

6 months later, we caught up for coffee and I asked: 

"How many potential customers have you spoken to?"

He said, "Oh we're not ready to launch yet so none."

At that point, I knew this idea wasn't going to make it off his laptop. 

And it never did. 

He ran out of money, and his wife made him get another job. 

I've seen this so many times. 

You don't have to quit your full-time job to start building your own business. 

Use your evenings and weekends, post content online and find a problem people want help solving. 

"Go big or go home" is how so many people end up back at home. 

Start small and move quick.

My brother moved to Canada when he was 15 years old.

He landed in Montreal and missed his flight to Ottawa because of the border agents.

To make things worse, he didn't have a phone so we literally had no idea where he was.

But he's so intelligent! We've always known that.

So my sister and I drove to the Greyhound station and just hoped he would find his way to Ottawa.

4 hours later, he arrived! He has always been able to figure things out on his own - even in a brand new country.

He graduated high school at 15, did some networking and landed a job at Dairy Queen.

Before college, he managed to land a part-time job at Scotiabank and worked full-time during summers.

Whenever he needed extra cash, he would flip iPhones on Kijiji (just like I used to do).

During the pandemic, he learned how to trade, made $10k in profit and then paid some of his college tuition with it.

When he needed a computer for school, he built his own computer from scratch watching videos on YouTube and buying parts online.

I also once watched him use Java to code the solution to a problem I gave him in less than a day.

Today, he's a top producing Sales Development Rep at a tech company. 

And I'm a proud big brother. 

Never underestimate people who have the ability to figure things out.

Consistency will take you further than motivation. 

Not seeing any results yet, keep working. 

Things aren’t going your way, keep showing up.

Crushing it? Go again tomorrow. 

Never underestimate how far you can go by just staying consistent with your efforts. 

Keep going.

My ambition was at an all-time high when I was 23. 

I wanted to "change the world" with my ideas. 

But I was sacrificing my relationships with the people I loved to be "successful"

Then one of my mentors sat me down one day and said:

If you want to change the world, go home and love your family. 

It hit me so hard and I immediately knew what I had to do. 

I set up weekly date nights with my sister so we could mend our relationship. 

Weekly date nights with my girlfriend (now wife). 

And later on I set up weekly family night with both my siblings. 

My family never came second after that conversation. 

And it was the best decision I ever made.

Unsurprisingly, my career and businesses took off shortly after. 

And it was incredible to know that I always had their backing. 

If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.

I met up with a founder who just finalized his divorce. 

He’s devastated. 

The companies that he founded are worth over $45 million. 

But because he used to travel so much, his marriage slowly fell apart over the years.

And so did his relationship with his young kid.

As we were having lunch, he looked me in the eyes and said something profound: 

”I would trade all the money I made to have my family back together. It wasn’t worth it.”

And then encouraged me NOT to do entrepreneurship the way he did it. 

That conversation will stick with me forever. 

Because anything that will cost you your family, your peace or your health is not worth it. 

Remember your priorities.

Leadership doesn't have a specific title. 

In fact, the best leaders have learned how to influence people without one.

They are the ones who:
↳ Praise you in public but give you feedback in private
↳ Defend your honour when you aren't in the room
↳ Care about you - outside of the work you do
↳ Never stop believing in your potential
↳ Fight to get you more opportunities

You don't need to be a manager, director or VP to do these things.

Even as an individual contributor, you can begin impacting people's careers positively.

You are not a leader because of your fancy title.

You are a leader because of your consistent actions.

There's nothing worse than getting to the end of your life and thinking:

I should have tried harder. 

That's one of the major regrets people have. 

You know that you are capable of more.

So give your best and unlock all the potential you have. 

It just might change your life.

I bought into the wrong definition of wealth. 

Social media emphasized things that don't matter:
↳ Expensive cars
↳ Luxury brands
↳ Massive houses
↳ Fancy watches

Real wealth is much simpler:
↳ Freedom to live anywhere
↳ Time with loved ones
↳ Control of your schedule
↳ Work that fulfills you

A $300k business that gives you freedom beats a $3M business that owns you.

Build a life of true wealth.

Not just a big bank account.

2019: My business generated $11,000 in 12 months

2024: My business hit over $1 million in revenue in 12 months

2019: Worked 6-7 days a week between my job & side hustle

2024: Worked 3-days a week and spent more time traveling

2019: Losing sleep because I had no savings & lots of responsibility

2024: Woke up daily without an alarm and had peace of mind

2019: Had to borrow $150 for groceries from my little sister

2024: Own a home and get to take my family on vacation

Sharing my thoughts on LinkedIn played a big part in that transformation.

It's incredible what can happen in only 5 years of being consistent. 

By December 2030, you could have a completely different life. 

But only if you start working towards it as early as today. 

Everyone overestimates what they can do in a year. 

And underestimates what they can do in 10 years. 

Overnight success does not exist.

Apple CEO: We haven’t done mass layoffs since 1997 and we won’t start now. 

Leadership isn’t proven in good times. 

It’s proven in tough times.

Accountability often shows up in action, not words.

In March, I took my family to Barbados. 

It was our first family vacation in probably 15 years. 

During Christmas, I emailed them their plane tickets! 

For a week, we had breakfast lunch and dinner together. 

And had water gun fights in the pool at our AirBnB. 

I've experienced a lot of highs while building businesses. 

But that week was probably one of the greatest highlights of my entire life. 

Entrepreneurship is hard. 

But it's so worth it.

I quit my job at Shopify almost 3 years to the day I joined.

Back in 2017, I set a secret goal to leave the corporate world before I turned 30. 

The only problem was that every business I started kept failing and I was struggling in my career. 

So I came up with a plan: 

Step 1: Join Shopify to learn how successful entrepreneurs work and to be surrounded by them. 

Step 2: Replace me and my wife’s full-time income with revenue from my own ideas. 

Step 3: Eventually buy property in Canada to build equity so that the money I make is also making money. 

That was the entire plan.

In 2018, I helped my sister land a job and started helping friends kickstart their careers for free. 

In 2019, we founded 3Skills, helped 30 people land jobs and we made $11,000 in revenue. 

In 2020, I applied to Shopify for the 7th time and I used everything we had been teaching at 3Skills to finally land a job there. 

That year, I also started posting on LinkedIn and generated over 4 million views. 

In 2021, 3Skills became a 6-figure business and we helped over 100 people transition careers. 

My LinkedIn content got 11 million views. 

Then in 2022, I got promoted to Sales Lead at Shopify and my total business revenue tripled. We trained over 15,000 people online. 

I kept posting on LinkedIn and my content got over 77 million impressions online. 

By May 2023, the plan was complete. It was like I completed a 3-year degree in Entrepreneurship.

That year my business generated over $400k in revenue. 

So I bought a house & quit my corporate job. 

Then moved to Paris to travel the world with my wife. 

People overestimate what they can do in 1 year and underestimate what they can do in 10. 

Be patient with your progress but persistent with your purpose.

To generate $100,000 with a $25 product in 1 year, you need 4,000 customers!

That is incredibly difficult to do. 

Most entrepreneurs think: 

If my product is cheap enough, lots of people will be able to afford it. 

As feasible as that sounds, it's very difficult to do without a consistent source of traffic or a large audience. 

If you have: 
↳ A massive email list
↳ Hundreds of thousands of followers or 
↳ Tens of thousands of dollars to spend on Facebook ads 

You MIGHT get there - eventually. 

The alternative is to build a more tailored offer for the top 3% of customers who would prefer to pay for the white-glove service. 

Instead of $25 per customer, you could generate $2,500 per customer. 

Now you only need 40 customers to hit your $100,000 goal. 

Getting 40 customers is easier than getting 4,000 in every universe!

Because there will always be people that are willing to pay a premium for you to provide higher quality services. 

Stop trying to serve everybody.

I started working with a management consultant last year.

He was building software while working at Deloitte but struggled to gain traction.

He had some personal constraints too.

A daughter needing treatments and a desire to create a lifestyle that gave him more time with his family.

Instead of suggesting he lower his ambitions, we did something different: 
→ Helped him pivot 4-5 times until he found an offer that resonated 
→ Created a strategic LinkedIn presence that attracted his ideal clients 
→ Detached from specific ideas & focused on finding product-market fit
→ Built a business model that gave him control over his time and income

He never thought anyone would pay $15,000 for his services.

And for the first few months he struggled to find any customers. 

Then on December 31st, he signed his first $15K client.

Today, less than a year later, his agency generates 4X what he made at his consulting job.

What seemed impossibly difficult became "almost easy" once everything fell into place.

Every goal is possible if you're willing to pivot until you find what works.

Stop giving up when your first idea doesn't land.

When I first met Patrice Evra I was so nervous! 

One of my favourite athletes from childhood wanted my help growing on LinkedIn.

For days, I worked on a presentation and practiced it over and over again. 

We got on the call and the first thing Pat said was: 

"Tobi, I've seen your LinkedIn. You know what you're doing. Let's do it."

Turns out my LinkedIn profile had done all the hard work for me. 

He wanted to reposition himself as a serious business man and investor - not just a legendary athlete.

And we've done that using just 3 posts a week carefully crafted to ride the LinkedIn feed. 

Within 8 months we hit 12 million impressions, invested in 4 new companies and drove 300 inbound inquiries. 

There is simply no better platform right now than LinkedIn when it comes to credibility in the business world. 

Every CEO, former athlete and exec that wants to open up more opportunities than they can count should be sharing content here. 

If you do it right (or get our help to do it), it only takes an hour or two a month. 

Sometimes less! 

You likely don't have hours per day to sit down crafting the perfect content 

But it still needs to get done. 

There is no better investment to make going into 2026.

I started working with a data scientist that works for a Fortune 500 company. 

He was at a career crossroads. 

Wondering whether to climb the corporate ladder or pursue entrepreneurship.

He had valuable knowledge from his transition from chemical engineering to tech, but didn't know how to package it or find clients.

Instead of telling him to pick one path, we implemented my blueprint: 
↳ Transformed his blank LinkedIn profile with 500 connections into a powerful lead generator
