Gaikai is a cloud gaming (streaming) company (meaning that it runs video games in the cloud) that can be played instantly on any internet connected device or website.  After signing deals with Walmart, Best Buy, Facebook, Samsung, LG and many more, Gaikai was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment for $380M in July 2012.  Gaikai is now a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment and it's headquarters remain in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Notable investors included Benchmark Capital, NEA, Rustic Canyon, Intel Capital & Silicon Valley Bank.

As one of the founders of Acclaim, Perry held the Chief Creative Officer title, directing all key Acclaim titles worldwide.  Acclaim was one of the first Western companies to embrace and publish massively multiplayer online "free-to-play" games, using in-game advertising, micro-transactions, crowd-sourced localization and state-of-the-art viral marketing techniques.

The Mayfield Fund invested into Acclaim, it then rapidly became the largest American free to play game company.

After Perry started his own company Gaikai Inc., Acclaim was bought by Playdom.  Playdom was then subsequently bought by Disney.

Also wrote the in-house game engine used for several other of Virgin's Sega Genesis Projects.

Aladdin was the first true collaboration between the video game industry and Hollywood where the Directors & Executives of the movie supplied content (real hand-drawn Disney animation) to take the game animation to a level never before achieved.

Perry's career accelerated through this work on licensed game properties like The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Terminator, Dan Dare, Paperboy, Smash TV, Aladdin, The Simpsons, and The Matrix with Warner Brothers. Some properties bridged the video game and advertising industries, like Cool Spot for 7-UP and the Game of the Year, Global Gladiators for McDonald's.

An acclaimed author, Perry has written a comprehensive book on game design, "David Perry on Game Design," published by Charles River Media. He holds an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering from Queen's University, Belfast, and an Honorary Masters Degree in Game Development from Westwood College.

Perry is actively involved in the technology sector, he is an investor and board member at Carro, a board member at Centercode (world-class product testing), an investor in the educational platform Arduboy, and serves as an investor and advisor to iAsk.ai, a rapidly growing AI search company.
