This tricky bit about ergodicity economics is that it's so straight-forward that people can't believe it works. 
But the culprit is the orthodoxy: it's so incredibly complicated that people believe the complication is necessary.

Example: why do people reject the St. Petersburg lottery, except at very low entry fees, despite the infinite expected gain?
 
A) Orthodox economics says it's because the lottery reduces people's expected utility. 

B) Ergodicity economics says it's because you'll lose money if you play these sorts of games.

A) is complicated: expected utility? The expected value is an average over the statistical ensemble, meaning across imagined parallel realizations of random future states of the world. It has little to do with actual reality. 
Because the connection to reality is broken, a patch is required, and that's the non-linear utility function.

B) just checks: do you gain or lose money from playing this over time? No average over imagined worlds, no need for fudges.

Here is how that looks in pictures.

•	Revived English poetry in the school by piloting a focused poetry module for all student levels. Coached 2 students to place 4th amongst 30 schools in the district Poetry Recitation Competition, the best achievement in the school’s 15-year history.

•	Comprehensively interviewed 60+ supermarket customers and analysed the data to identify a product-market fit for the spin-off product, an antimicrobial food bag.

Market Research Intern

Wearing the hat of a Product Owner within a telco's Scrum team, I get to chart the incremental delivery of value via our flagship CSR digital product. Working closely with both Biz and Dev teammates, I scope out EdTech product features that must bring value to Malaysian students, teachers, and the org. Nothing beats knowing that our efforts have paid off, be it from meaningful success metrics or even product 'fan mail' from delighted users.

Indeed, my previous experience of operating at an EdTech startup have helped me build a strong customer-centric outlook and good prioritisation skills. On the other hand, my past work at an elite private school and different government offices have equipped me with a good sense of what it takes to adapt to and navigate a diverse range of spaces.

Having completed a pure science degree on a full-ride scholarship and then an advanced social science degree while in full-time employment, I have honed the fundamental skills and mindsets to derive insights from both quantitative and qualitative data. I have also come to view frameworks as abstractions - to be applied with contextual sensitivity; to be rebuilt from first principles where necessary; and to be secondary to the overall objective we are trying to achieve.

At the end of the day, I value being in spaces and teams that allow me to grow both as a professional and a person, and to also grow others alongside.
